I have seen this movie more than once already, and I enjoy it more every time! The start is a little slow, but it becomes a thrill ride! I do caution you, however, that this IS a long movie, this time I tried to take my kids and it did not work out! They were bored and needed multiple potty breaks. This film has done everything right.
The film was calculated so that the entire world could love the story. The "victims" are of a race/color not of this planet, so any culture on Earth can feel bad for them. The pace of the film is great. Over the 11x I have seen the film, each time I have seen a new detail that escaped my eyes the previous times. Cameron's attention to detail is unmatched in my opinion. The story's protagonist already grabs your heart due to his attitude towards his unfortunate physical condition. The acting is fantastic, but most impressive are the CG characters' acting. The expressions on their faces reach such grandeur as well as subtle-ness that you forget they aren't real.

After seeing Avatar 3D I want to see more movies in the format! The entire movie is riveting, the plot is kind of overused, but the execution is marvelous. I felt as if I was part of the movie, just standing close to the characters and what they were experiencing. I got vertigo in some of the scenes. I am amazed at the special effects throughout the movie. I recommend this to anyone who wants to spend a few hours immersed in a truly alien adventure.

If you haven't seen a 3D movie in the past few years, then you are missing out on a whole new experience.
I've always loved 3D *anything*. Viewmaster toys, movies, holograms, you name it. I saw just about every 3D movie that came out back in the 80's resurgence. Jaws 3D, Friday the Thirteenth 3D, Krull (ugh). I thought they looked pretty good. Since then I've seen several IMAX 3D productions and they weren't half-bad.
But when I put on the glasses and saw the first previews in the new 3D technology, I was more than impressed. I was, if you'll excuse the cheesy cliche . . . blown away.
I can't wait to see all the upcoming 3D movies and I hope to see the few recent ones I've missed because I thought I "knew" 3D.

The first time I saw this movie, I got lost in the beauty of Pandora, the language of the Na'vi, and my strong desire to have my own Avatar. As last night was my fifth time seeing the movie, I can tell you that none of that has changed. Avatar is the most visually breathtaking film of our time, and unlike most people, I also enjoyed the story. Simple and familiar, yes, but would you want a complex plot getting in the way of those graphics? I think not.

I was expecting the visuals on this movie to be beyond anything I had seen before, and I was not disappointed. What I was not expecting was how the visuals and the somewhat predictable plot pulled me in and made the 3 hours fly by. I do not recall seeing anyone getting up to leave to use the bathroom but I do remember having left over snacks (popcorn and a drink) because I got so involved with what I was seeing that I forgot to eat it all! LOL The 3-D previews were fun too! Everyone should see this movie to at least form their own opinion instead of using ours. I was glad I gave it a try. I was expecting 3 stars!

This is the best movie I've seen in years, baring none. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction books or movies. Lots of action, great drama!!. Considering how some groups of humans have behaved toward other humans in our history, the story line is very believable. Finally got to the theatre to see Avatar. Thought it couldn't possibly live up to all the hype. Boy was I wrong! By far the best use of computer animation and 3-D imaging EVER! The storyline was akin to Pacahontas, but it was written in a completely new, creative, and compelling way. A MUST see!

. The special effects and 3-D elements were great. I don't usually like CGI, but was able to put aside my misgivings as it was really well done. I found myself truly enjoying the movie, the culture and feeling protective of it-as was intended-but also couldn't beleive that I'd sat for 3 hours engrossed. Some elements reminded me of Octavia Butlers's xenogenesis trilogy (the joining of tendrils to connect with other species) and if you enjoyed this movie you may also enjoy her literature.

I left the theater in tears!! I was ashamed to be a greedy, human being. I do not know if Cameron's objective was to make a statement on the mess we are making of our planet, but I have NEVER been as moved as I was by this film. The cinematography and special effects were outstanding, but the power with which the point of human’s coming in and raping a planet without any compassion for it or its inhabitants was very emotional to me.

film was above and beyond any film, or any THING i have ever seen or experienced. was taken into another world--no flaws in production, continuity, writing or acting to take away from this amazing trip. practically a spiritual/religious experience for me! an absolute must-see----at least see it once, cause its a classic!

I am not a fan of computer-generated movies/ characters usually, but this is a very moving and valid story, and a wonderful wake-up call to all of us in the 21st century. The movie celebrates the earth- and the intelligence and importance of nature and women. The world of Pandora is unbelievably beautiful. The onscreen violence is minimal, the onscreen beauty is transformational. This movie blew me and daughters 12 and 9 away. We thought it might be one of the best movies we ever saw.

this might not have been the 'best movie ever', but it certainly was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The idea is not particularly new, see District 9, but I have never seen anything as creative and magnificent to look at. I don't think this is the future of film - but it is movingly an innovative spectacle. It should not be repeated too often - this film is a rare jewel to be appreciated for its uniqueness.

We saw this in 3D . We loved the film as more of an experience than just seeing a film. The technology is amazing. The story holds up quite well when competing with that technology.
This is what film entertainment is all about.
Highly reccommended.
