This movie is so relevant. The storie ties so many things to what is happening around us today but in a remote way. The movie is absoutely stunning. Never do you feel "oh this is a bunch of CG.. where is the story...?". Breath taking scene after scene with plenty of time to start really caring for the main characters and their story. Zoe Saldana's performance is honestly jaw dropping & it was good to see Sigourney Weaver in a familliar role again. The score or soundtrack for the movie is epic and like someone else said - this IS the right way to spend $300m+ to make a movie! Enjoy!

I believe this is Cameron's lifetime project,coz I saw pretty much all past blockbuster's shadow in this movie. Starting with Alien, then Terminator's hardship, Abyss is the sign of good luck here too. Titanic like few deaths and romance. (Sorry Leona Lewis did not spark like Celine Dion though. Back ground music-Horner is the only weak point in this movie. Like if I give 100 out of 100 in all categories, there will be 90 points for music.) Wait, Cameron is extreme perfectionist. This is the only movie in past 7 years (since Iris,2002) which I would like to watch again to discover something new next time. It is so different. Not another blockbuster at all. It is the true history!

The special effects and overall action and acting were great. The plot however was very mainstream and very PC. If you can overlook that and want something that is eye candy fun you will enjoy this movie once, twice, and at most three times.

Brilliant cinematography. Some scenes can be a bit lengthy, but I enjoyed the movie throughout. Although Cameron's 3D experience is enjoyable, he does not rely on the special effects to create a powerful and compelling story on the exploitation of a people and their natural resources. Visually, an amazing movie, especially in 3D. I could have done without some of the heavy-handed preachyness (Technology BAD... er.. except the kind we're using to shift into these bodies.. and create them.., Industrial society = evil morons, etc) but the plot and story are rich enough to make up for it. There are plot holes, particularly at the end, that aren't covered, but these are likely only of notice to the more avid SF/F movie fan.

It's not often that I'm speechless after a movie, but Avatar did it. I've never seen a movie like this - and really, I don't think there IS a movie like this. The CGI is excellently rendered, the Pandora environment is lush and virtually touchable with the added benefit of Real 3D. It's got a great story, great acting and mind blowing effects.

At 11:59 pm last night, I was one of the few female grownups in a theater awaiting the midnight showing of Avatar 3D. The room was packed largely with over-caffeinated, rowdy adolescent males, who were throwing things, screaming obscenities, playing music, and using laser pointers. I was starting to regret my decision to see the first showing...but then the film started, and it was magic. Simply magic.
No one moved, except to flinch. No one spoke, except to gasp. The entire room sat spellbound for over 2.5 hours, lost in a new technology and a new world. The plot is nothing special. But the feeling of BEING THERE was overwhelming and undeniable. 3D has finally been perfected. And it is amazing.

Drop dead gorgeous scenery. Plot held my interest throughout, same for the rest of my family. We came out of the opening day (midnite) show agreeing it was the most amazing film we ever saw. Similar to the excitement and sizzle the first time we saw an Imax. Worth seeing for the effects alone. I have to disagree with some critics who pan the plot; it was engaging, touching, and exciting. Definitely see the 3D version to get the full effect. This movie has definitely raised the quality bar for 3D movies! Bravo, James Cameron!

Beautiful imagery will only take you so far. The film follows the "Titanic" timeline in setting up the characters and location to draw the audience in before applying the EVENT - in Titanic it was the iceberg, in Avatar it is the mercs attack on the Na-vi aliens.
Unfortunately, that EVENT took too long to get to and I found myself wondering how much longer I had to sit there before the story arc came about.
Avatar is definitely worth seeing in the theater in 3-D, but I can't give it 5 stars due to it focusing more on location development than character development and running a bit long on time.

So will admit the visuals of the film are worth the price of the ticket alone. However, as is hinted by a few different critics, the plotline and a little bit of the acting here and there is spotty. To be honest, if you want to see the plotline done well look no further than Dances with Wolves. It's a rehashed storyline that, to be honest, after multiple viewings, might cause this film to loose a lot of it's steam.

Avatar -- the movie was sensational. I immediately wanted to see it again! Not only was the story good -- but the graphics and scenes were phenomenal. Cameron knows how to fill a screen and tell a story. Don't miss this one!
