I felt so inthralled in the story I could not take my eyes off the screen at all. Visually epic. May be the best FX I have ever seen. After the movie I walked around the theater thinking how boring our world looks compared to the beauty I witnessed on screen. Very few times can I say i am truly blown away when I leave the theater. The movie could have been another hour. I want to be an Avatar. Story line was good and flowed well. This is the best theater experience I have had this year if not ever. I have gone to a 3D movie before and had a headache the whole time. This was an outstanding 3D experience that took me to another world. I was there. James Cameron is a genius, and everyone that worked on this film should be proud.

Avatar is the most beautiful movie visually I've ever seen. James Cameron's Pandora is a world I would love to see in real life. I could never seem to watch a 3D movie with those glasses on but from the beginning of the movie til the end I was enjoying every moment of it. If u are a SciFi fan then this is your movie! There's only so many films that can get this much hype. There's only a handful more that lived up to it, much less surpassed it. This film, by all accounts, is an epic film. In 3D, you're immersed into Jame Cameron's long awaited dream planet, and it has all the makings of a classic.

The special effects do not inhibit story and character development as so often happens with scifi/fantasy. Great pacing, it did not feel like an almost 3 hour film.
Only two elements detracted from the experience for me. First, the villain of the movie falls too much into the stereotypical military "kill the natives" idiot. Similarly, the reason for removing the natives - mining a rare mineral - with no consideration of other profitable resources the planet might offer was jarring. Second, the aliens were still a bit too human. They probably should have had 4 eyes for example. However, other than the humanoid aliens, the alien flora and fauna were well done, with good attention to common ancestry & evolution principles.

Avatar has definitely set the standard for 3D movies to follow. The effects are truly on another level and the integration of computer generated characters and real-life characters is so seamless that you can't tell the difference. I would 100% recommend seeing this in IMAX if possible because the movie itself is larger than life and needs a large screen to do it justice. While I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I found the plot a little predictable at times. The delivery of the movie was spot on, however, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

What a gorgeous experience! I want to take a magnifying glass and study the plants, the shadows, how they move in the wind. Then I want to check out the 3-D projectors that the mercenaries have in their control room. And the nuances of Neytiri's expressions. It's hyper-real and amazing.

I sat in Awe at the end. Amazing work and I was completely immersed in both the stunning views, animals, action, and story. I will go see this again to enjoy all that I missed the first time. I have only seen 1 other movie, ever, a second time in the theaters, on purpose. And that was Jurassic Park. A definite go-see.

This is a movie you should see on the largest screen possible. The visual work alone is worth the price. The story had good intentions, but was ultimately too simplistically anti-military to be great. And Worthington sounds like an Australian trying not to sound Australian. Go see this movie. I went to see it with little expectation and it was amazing! See it in 3D if you can, if not I'm sure it's still worth while. Even if you dislike the plot of this movie, the development of Pandora is so elaborate that you will find enjoyment in just the scenery.

Saw the midnight opening with the wife and we both loved it. If they would have another showing right afterwards, we would have stayed to see it again. The 2+ hours does not drag on like other movies has in the past. The 3D effects are outstanding despite having to wear the black thick framed glasses. Go see it, it is worth the ticket price.

The film stands in a class of its own by fantasy standards, as well as computer-generated and computer-assisted graphics. Unfortunately, this cannot be enjoyed by children who would have found it exciting due to the occassional and unnecessary profanity (Commercial Hollywood: can't take my 7 year old who would have really enjoyed some of it).
By comparison, Disney's A Christmas Carol, was a far better 3D rendering with terrific detailing, but the action in AVATAR would prove a better guy-flick-night-out, while CAROL would be a better chick-flick date.

Avatar was a movie that I was hesitant to see, because I was not sure what to expect. Was this going to be some typical Hollywood-esc blockbuster with explosions and brutal alien death, or was it actually going to be a movie? I was pleasantly surprised that the latter was the truth, and spent the entirety of the movie in awe, not just of the landscapes and 3D, but of the immense story that is beautifully laid out for the watcher to immerse himself in. To speak very plainly, I wish to convey my deepest thanks for having this movie be made, as it has touched me very deeply and resonates with me on a level that a movie has not done in some time. This is a visually stunning movie. Cameron does a crafty job of spendng the first 30 minutes or so with character and plot setting so we know the "what's going on" and "Who are the players". NOW... HANG ON .... because the adventure begins and is full force in your face. Pandora is an incredible planet and the people, creatures and "Living-Iinterconnected Planet" are amazing. AMAZING AMAZING - NO JOKE. AMAZING. The CG work is incredible but Cameron's new filming technique (especially in 3D) will change the way CG is done for some time to come. Overall, the movie was watchable, unlike many Hollywood movies these days. At least, someone is still trying to make the movies a quality experience.
I did feel a lot of Hollywood typical plot elements forced into the storyline and directing, which I despise, so it definitely toned down the effect a notch.
It was a good entertaining experience, all in all. Definitely worth the money and time (I went to the 12:03am viewing on Friday morning).

best movie ever made, seriously way better than anything i have ever seen. People who say the plot was boring are basically a ratard ! Its a great storyline and great film. I will be seeing this again.

The graphics are good, but will definitely be dated in a few years, with a few parts especially that say "This doesn't look real." I'm glad to say the story stands well on its own without relying too much on the 3D "wow" factor. The story is sort of a Sci-Fi version of Pocahontas or Dances with Wolves, mixed with a little Ferngully. I like the concept. The villains are a little stereotypical, but they set the stage well enough for the story. The pacing of the story is my only real complaint; while the story is supposed to take place over 3 months of time, it's rushed and doesn't feel like more than 10 days. The main character doesn't change as much in appearance or attitude as you would expect living in that environment over 3 months.

Awesome story, unbelieveable special effects and jaw dropping scenes...will make you say "wow".
If it takes 10 years to create such a master piece of a movie, then long live James Cameron!

Go see this movie. It's fantastic. It was so visually imaginative. Very very beautiful. Despite the impressive length of this movie, I was wishing it would go on longer. Plus, you take the fact that it's Fern Gully meets Dances With Wolves... in 3D! How can you go wrong?
