Emotionally satisfying, and a wow to the power of 10! Not since the Lord of the Rings Trilogy have my husband, our daughter and myself been in awe of the masterful cinematic artistry on display in a film, if it hadn’t been the fact that we were hungry, we would have gone right back to sit through it again. We would recommend it to everyone we know.

Been a long time since a movie has captured my attention 100% from beginning to end. This movie was well done, the graphics and 3D make it better, but the plot and story line were good and the movie in general flowed well from beginning to end.

Had low expectations of Avatar, but it's the holidays and I had to get outside. Donned my 3D glasses, sat down and was amazed. While the story line was pretty basic, it did manage to pull me in and jar me emotionally a bit, in a good way. I found myself interested in the outcome of their world, and quickly began reflecting on the US interest abroad. Are we seen are invaders who raid the natural resources for monetary gain? Are we truly disturbing the balance of the living mother earth? I left the film reflective and thus found it entertaining. If I didn't have so much water earlier in the day, I would not have realized the film was 2 hours 40 mins.
Nice job Cameron! Looking forward to the sequel.

Wow! Visually it was absolutely beautiful and at times so stunning that it made you question what was real and what was CGI. The story line was a bit predictable but carried deep political meaning that as an adult I appreciated. It evoked emotion and still does a week later. I brought my son and his friend, both 9 years old and they admit to dozing off in the middle of the 160 min. extravaganza. I guess, in this "fast food" world, our kids expect to be entertained quickly as well. With that being said, I get that they were bored at times, it's not really geared to 9 year olds...I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 15. Not because of violence or language but more for their inability to become engaged with the deeper concepts of the movie.

Long violent scenes in the last one third of the movie makes it hard to watch. It seemed like I was trapped into watching an endless violent video game with a trite story line. In spite of fun 3D technology, i would not recommend it.

My 16 yo son saw Avatar the first weekend and said it was the best movie he has ever seen. At the time I said "Really?!" LOL he was right. We went as a family on Christmas. I cried through the whole second half... it was so wonderful and awful at the same time. The science of it was wonderful, the scenery was breathtaking, the acting was fantastic, the action was thrilling and the social messages were compelling without being preachy.
I also found it to be one of those pg-13 movies which were totally acceptable for the younger set (allowing for the fact that I had to go out 4 times for potty breaks, lol)

Yes, I have seen the storyline before but not told or shown in this way. Besides, who could ever get tired of the good guys winning? It was a moving, visually stunning movie. The visual effects mark a new high in movie making. And don't worry about the length...you won't notice it! Worth seeing more than once on the big screen!

After seeing Avatar I was wrong about all skepticism I held before seeing this film. If the story line doesn't tickle your fancy, then sit back and watch the unbelievable effects in 3D. Personally, I was so blown away at what James Cameron made, and know that this will change the industry forever.

We thought it was a very powerful and deep movie. What's possible. The visual aspects were extraordinary. Our 16 year old grandson suggested it because he thought it was "the best movie I have ever seen...I'd love to see it again"...so we all went (including our 84 year old father, who also enjoyed it). We also want to see it again and will likely purchase it when it comes out.

Liked the movie...had my five year old with me. He had a hard time watching as it took a while for the story to unfold enough to get to the good stuff. Loved the special effects and the Avatars. Movie is a bit long...they probably could have made it shorter while still maintaining some intensity and buildup. Do not drink too much during this movie. I was up three times. Overall, the 3D experience was great and I really grew to like Sully.

Two thumbs up! Amazing visuals in 3D and a very good story line. The only bad thing (that was a real turn off) was the tired same acting of Weaver. The woman just doesn't have any depth to her. Once past that hurdle the movie was enticing. I want more please!!!

Sure, it's a recognizable storyline- but the way in which the film is animated and the graphics are intertwined with the animation brings the story to life. The colors, textures, and lighting are all beautifully coordinated and executed. This absolutely sets a new milestone for movies.

The visuals and storyline were both amazing, which is rare for a massive high budget Action Adventure Film. I appreciated that the story was character-driven, with the action being just the icing on the cake. I want to see it again before it leaves theaters, and so does most of the people who've I've talked to after seeing the movie. James Cameron did an awesome job making this movie.

Visually stunning from beginning to end! James Cameron once again shows audiences how to make an emotional film while upping the CGI effects to its maximum. I feel that moving forward all action, story-driven 3D films would need to be at this level, but may fall short. My particular favorite sequence is the epic battle of the worlds between humans and the Navi (The People). Hidden political messages are found throughout, but let me just say it is good to know that underdogs do have their day!! This is a MUST for any syfy junkie like myself.

Visually stunning and brilliantly creative imaginary world, but the other two hours and twenty five minutes were gruelling. And the cheap 3D glasses didn't help.
I'd love to have been on the set the day, halfway through production, when someone said, "Hey guys, shouldn't we have a script or something?"
And poor Sigourney. Bet she's miffed at the vapid schtick they gave her to do. I hope she at least made some big bucks.
But what do I know? "Titanic" sold a bunch of tickets, too.

This is the kind of movies that inspires people to become filmmakers. Yes, its a common storline, but its the use of technology and the ability to take people to another place that represents the magic of movies. Anyone who watches Cameron and Spielberg know that this is their sweet spot and the creation of new characters and genres is where they shine. This will set the bar now for IML and use of animation going forward.
