Liked the movie...had my five year old with me. He had a hard time watching as it took a while for the story to unfold enough to get to the good stuff. Loved the special effects and the Avatars. Movie is a bit long...they probably could have made it shorter while still maintaining some intensity and buildup. Do not drink too much during this movie. I was up three times. Overall, the 3D experience was great and I really grew to like Sully.
This is a story about courage and what humans are capable of, both good and bad. My recommendation is to go without really high expectations. While I am happy that I went to see it, I expected this movie to be as captivating as Valkyrie. While Defiance was well worth my time, my expectations were a little high prior to going to see it.
Overall, the movie was good. I heard that I needed to bring the kleenex, so I felt a little prepared to shed some tears. Will Smith has not disappointed me yet. He carried a so-so script and made the movie better than if another actor had played the part. His co-star, Rosario Dawson was terrific. The movie was nicely pieced together, but seemed a little slow here and there. The key is to allow yourselft to relax and be patient for the full plot to unravel. In the end, I was happy to spend two hours watching this movie.
