We were so thrilled with the visual experience in 3D (my first) as well as the story line. So appropriate and current. Not the "kid's" film as I'd originally thought. Sorry I waited so long to see it! Can't wait for my next 3D Experience. As my son said...it's the "Star Wars" of this generation..certainly ground breaking in special effects.

The proof of the utter vastness of wonders in this movie is that is knocks the socks off of boys, girls, men, women, old, young, conservatives, liberals, action junkies, special effects nerds, sci-fi addicts, love story swooners, environmentalists, etc. Exceeds anything I've seen on every level of movie-making. Seeing any other movie or TV program not in this kind of 3-D would be like going back to silent films. I can't imagine watching anything else unless it's in this medium.

This movie is not for the young (younger than 11, I'd say), or the faint of heart. But it is, quite simply, one of the finest movies I've ever seen. This is a film of devastating beauty -- in the visual, the aural, the story, the messages. The technical achievement is masterful indeed -- masterful enough that it doesn't distract, which is a wonder in itself. All that said, there's nothing worse than going to a movie and not enjoying yourself because your expectations are set too high. So stop reading reviews, don't expect a whole lot, and go see this movie. You might be pleasantly surprised. :-)

WOW, this movie is awesome usually I dont like the 3D movies but this one is superb. It has a great story line and has great graphics. Dont drink too much soda a restroom break is not going to happen, it is that awesome. I wasnt sure if this was going to be good but everyone in our family loved it and we loved it too. Go see this movie it is worth the money.

The images were crystal clear and the depth was amazing. Even the translations of different languages appeared in the front as though there were many layers or tracks of film.
I figured out all the plot points in the movie and thought that it was similar to the movie last Summer – District 9. Humans interacting with a different culture from other worlds that we though were primitive but they are not. Even though I’m guessing the whole world of Pandora is computer generated, one could see the blades of grass and the effects of wind. As is all James Cameron’s movies, the enemy is the Corporation.

Damn, this movie was great! i do not go to the movies much, I prefer to watch in the comfort of my home and avoid the hassles of going out but I made an exception in this case. I heard that you should see the movie in 3D to get the full effect. I'm glad I adhered to that advice because i had a great expereince. Glad i made the trip.

I am not much of a movie buff, but I loved loved loved this movie. It was so spectacular in 3D that I may never watch another movie without! The story was wonderful, the special effects incredible and it was hard to come back to my ordinary world hours after I left the theatre. This is one movie I hope will have a sequel. I will be going to see it again, no matter what.

Saw this awhile back but realized I had not reviewed, really though it's the biggest movie in history at this point. It's great for the effects, just as titanic was for it's recreation, as far as best picture of the year though I don't think so. One thing I have to say is if I am going to shell out 3D prices for the whole family then AMC better get the "cell phone bandits" in the theater under control or they will lose business. Great effects, story line so so, but just awesome experience.

I have one word to describe this film: WOW! From start to finish, it was a brilliant film. The blending of the CG characters and actors is utterly believable. When you see the Pandorans, you actually think they are real beings. It was so engrossing that the time flew by. A "must see" movie.

Had incorrectly thought this would be another computer generated, digitally animated feature. After viewing the entire 3D, almost 3-hour film ["bladder buster"], left with mouth agape and completely in awe of the creativity and scripting that James Cameron brought to the screen. Superb performances by Sam Worthington and "Colonel" Stephen Lang. Excellent music by James Horner and his associates, with great vocals similar to "Titanic". Appropriate PG-13 rating; not for the young ones. Super story, inevitable romance, A "Must See".

Not worth seeing just for the 3D, though 3D helps.
Aspects of this film were downright offensive, such as the slaughter of U.S. soldiers (the bad guys) over which none of the insurgents seems to feel the slightest moral or emotional conflict, though they have moral conniptions every time they have to kill a wild animal.
There are some ham-handed references to the Bush administration (or something): Two giant trees are toppled by the U.S. soldiers and it looks uncannily like the Twin Towers collapsing; Phrases like "shock and awe" "hearts and minds” are sprinkled throughout.
The bottom line, though, is that the film and its morals are so half-baked and incoherent, that it never got sharp enough to get under my skin.

The special effects in the movie are ingenious. I also enjoyed that the 3-D was only to give the audience a real feel of the place and characters and environment, not just to have things "jump out at you" for the sole purpose of making the audience jump. But, great effects don't matter so much without a good story, and this has a great story. This movie is NOT for young children. Parents, leave them with a babysitter! There is lots of strong language and brutal fighting - thus the rating. Plus, there are many details to the story and unfolding of the plot that I believe younger children would have a tough time really following. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, for one to catch some of the detail I may have missed.

we were amazed! this movie is so great, loved everything about it. it was so much fun watching it in 3D. we cant wait until it comes out in stores so we can buy it. i would recommend it to everyone who loves movies filled with action. there was not one boring part at all. i thought i would fall asleep because it was so long but i was wide awake. my husband and i loved it!!!!!!

Great movie took all my kids wish I paid extra and saw it in IMAX Went to Braintree AMC no staduim seating and you could hear people in the hall playing video games not a good theater But the movie was great

I am not want for science type movies. I actually was dreading going to this one but was being a good friend. :) I was glued to the screen the whole time. Definatley recommend anyone going see this movie. I plan on seeing it again myself.

I went into Avatar with low expectations, since most blockbusters have disappointed me lately. The 3-D effects and stunning colors instantly transfixed me, then the story crawled into my heart and took hold. Be aware -- if you are one of those Americans who thinks we have every right to attack other countries for stuff we want (oil, diamonds, etc) this movie will scream at you for your beliefs. Also, sometimes the director's political agenda gets in the way of the story, thanks to overly direct semantics (shock and awe? really?!). But if you're willing to open yourself up to this movie, it takes you on an emotional ride.
