My fiancee and I were invited to go see this movie by a friend of ours. We did not know what to expect, as we both thought it looked boring from the previews. We could not have been any more wrong! It was rediculously amazing! In 3D this movie really comes to life. The story is great, the acting is great (though Sam Worthington has a certain generic quality about him), and the action is very satisfying. I have never seen anything like this and am very happy to have experienced this epic event in movie theaters. Go see it!

'Avatar' has very good artwork, animation, and visual effects. There are a few things that I strongly dislike about this movie, but it's too substantial a film not to see. A review probably won't determine whether you see this movie or not, and it shouldn't. The only recommendation I have is that you see it in 3D. It would lose a lot without it.

The commonly heard, "it's not my type of movie" excuse, DOESN"T APPLY HERE! I have never experienced any other movie that offers so much in anticipation, then delivers. The films amazing visuals (and no disappointments here) still may not attract some movie go'ers, but I was impressed by Cameron's dramatic build and storyline progression. The romance injection was just enough to satisfy those using the excuse above, yet not overdone for those who prefer an immediate dose of action. Everything told, I would suggest seeing the film in 3-D at least once. The IMAX experience might be reserved for those familiar with the impact, but it still carries well. Don't miss the theater experience on this one! ET

When I heard how much was spent on the CGI for this movie, I was immediately skeptical of any hope of a plotline. However, I went out on a limb and saw it, and what a limb! :D Avatar is one of the best movies I have ever seen, from plotline to graphics. I was enthralled immediately, and the near three hours just flew by! The only thing that sucked was leaving the theatre and realizing how boring my life is in comparison. Can't wait to see the sequels!

I am not much of a sci-fi person, but I would go see this movie again -- and probably again! -- it was so great! Amazing graphics, 3D that didn't give you motion sickness but incredible depth, aliens and creatures that you swear are REAL. It has something for everyone in it. I can't imagine anyone walking away disappointed. I'm looking forward to seeing how many Oscars this movie and James Cameron will walk away with. I could go on and on, but just go see it !!

This is perhaps one of the most visually stunning films that I have ever seen. The creatures are complete and generally believable, and the special effects crew deserve an Oscar. I watched the 3D version which enhanced the effect. The graphics are by far the best I have seen to date! Well done state of the art! Fitting name for the movie. I was in Pandora and did not want to leave either. The movie was so well done I did not know I was watching for 3 hours straight! I must buy when available on DVD especially blue ray and even a 3D version. Moving plot, great character development, acting was good, sound effects were absolutely amazing as it crossed all "T's" and dotted all "I's"! Overall great entertaining movie.

Had a choice of regular theater, 3-D or IMAX version of the movie and elected for the 3-D version. A great choice! Seeing the special effects in 3-D was amazing. The story line was somewhat predictable, but enjoyable. I'm glad that I bought tickets ahead of time because the theater was sold out when we arrived.

This is the first time in a long time that I have paid to see a movie at the theaters, but I was not disappointed. I went to the 3D (would have gone IMAX if available) and it more than lived up to the promise. We were transported to Pandera for nearly 3 hours, and didn't want to leave. Not many of the sub-plots were very original, but that's because those plots are archetypes! I've seen a lot of movies, but it is the rare movie that I'd recommend spending the bucks to see it at a theater (make it Digital-3D or IMAX!)

Overall, well worth seeing. Great graphics! I really enjoyed the beginning of the movie which shows a ship designed to carry a large number of people in suspended animation. As someone else said, the story is not so new and I could tell that even from the previews. But it still kept you interest, even so. I must say that the heavy handed treatment of Corporations and the military, was a disappointment. This is the most disappointing part of the script. A much more subtle approach would have worked better. The motivations of the Earth forces, never got beyond comic book representations. No grey, just dark black. But again an amazing achievement and well worth seeing.

Best special effects I've seen in a long, long time. The story itself is not so new, but told in a way that it seemed so. Engages the mind and moves right along even tho it's a lengthy film. I wasn't too happy the way it depicted the armed forces as 'evil' but overall it is well worth the time. 3D is sensational!

The word says it all. I told my son, who is 14, to never forget this day, for he will be telling his own children one day, that he went to see it in theaters, when it was first released. Don't miss it.

Thought the 3D was just outstanding. The movie did present worship of Mother Earth, downgraded man and loathed the military. It protrays the beliefs of the modern day liberal. I believe the children will absolutely enjoy it, but it also has a message that may cloud a child's view of the earth and man.

One of the most anti-american movies to come out in recent years. Thinly veiled knock on supposed American values. Unfortunately Cameron has it wrong. We're not the exploitaive, materialistic people that he depicts. Sad.

Saw this movie in 2d and then 3d. Enjoyed the 3d more than I thought I would. Still enjoyed 2d version better as it had a more intimate feel. Am encouraging everyone to see Avatar, and looking forward to adding this DVD to my collection, and revisiting Pandora's wild beauty, and beautiful people.
