I think it is a great movie, but I think even though being in the shadows to Avatar-IMAX3d helped the movie financially, it is not really up to the same level to me. But it certainly is a different kind of movie, great adventure, and a good way to spend time with family. I strongly recommend it.

i liked the movie and the 3D effects, the only problem, i was expecting it to be more based on the orignal alice in wonderland, some of the story lines were kinda silly and pointless in the movie.. it wouldve been better if they made an orignal alice in wonderland, then this one as a continuing, or mabye named the movie return to wonderland, then people would understand the storyline better..

If your looking for the dark Alice this is not it. It's a kids movie. Burton never manages to go over the edge like Pans Labyrinth does.

First of all, TO PARENTS: If you are considering taking your child, just be aware the Jabberwocky is really scary as well as the big cat-thing, but other than that, my 4-year-old watched it without nightmares. However, I think you should see this movie at the theater (don't wait for dvd) because it really is beautiful to behold. Don't expect the story to blow you away. It was VERY predictable (I mean, the caterpillar tells you what's going to happen at the very beginning) and it IS written as more of a children's tale, so if you're looking for more...don't.

While I give the movie itself high marks I can't do the same for the IMAX theater seats. The movie was very good, but as another reviewer mentioned seemed a little rushed. But I would recommend seeing it.
The only issue I have is with the theater itself. Going to a sold out show right after work we couldn't get there in time to be anywhere near the front of the line to get in. Ended up in the 3rd row and off to the left. Being so close to the screen hurt our eyes. Also the effects were blurry and just too close to see the whole screen. Paying extra for Imax plus the online purchase fee one would expect that all the seats would be good. So last time I go to opening week of a movie.

The CGI effects were great and the story was fascinating, but the 3D wasn't anything to write home about; I often found myself wondering during the movie if it would look much different in 2D. The story was a bit darker and creepier than the original Alice, but I don't think it would be too much for a child to handle. Brilliant acting by all.

Though the effects were not perfect like a real animated type movie would be I am glad I saw it in the imax 3d and not just regular. There was a lot of 3d effects that were great and fit in with the movie at the right time.. I loved the move also. I did not think it was to scarey for kids.. I think it is good for all ages. I really enjoyed watching Alice in Wonderland. It brought a whole new level to the story. The acting was great and the CG effects were amazing. The only gripe I had is it seemed to not really be 3D. I could tell the camera hadn't been a 3D one since nothing really popped out. There were portions where the depth of field increased a little but nothing to write home about. So, if you're debating on 3D or not for Alice save your four extra bucks for the 20 dollar popcorn.

Tim Burton FINALLY got it right. This is his greatest movie yet! Dark enough for the adults to enjoy, but imaginative enough to keep the kids attention (and the adults). I was expecting this movie to get a little to cheesy, but they really held it together. There were a couple parts that I remember being more pivotal in reading and watching the plays that were a little downplayed, and a couple areas where they could have gone crazy with the spfx but didn't. Overall a fun experience.

Loved every second of this movie. The effects where awsome, and the story line was whitty and strong. I would not recommend bringing small children to this movie though. Be a good parent and watch the movie before you let you small kids see it.
