Seemed a little half-hearted from both Fey and Carell but they do just enough to make me glad I saw it. The pole dancing scene and attached taxi ride are definitely worth puting up with long periods of half-laughs.

I read a few of the reviews before writing this, and wonder whether we all saw the same movie! This movie was witty, it was spot-on as far as "middle life marriage" is (I'm 60, so I'm a voice of experience), and it showed the poignancy and vulnerability that comes with a long-term marriage. (I'm married 38 years.) And the humor. I had worked all day, 8 hours on my feet, and stayed AWAKE throughout the movie! That's rare and a true recommendation for this movie!

My husband and I saw this movie on our Date Day. It was disappointing because we expected more laughs. The beginning was slow and then, there were some rib ticklers. I should have waited for the DVD to come out on this one. I liked It's Complicated much better for the laughs.

I don't see why 'mainstream' reviewers didn't like this. It is funny, but not overly so. It has just about everything you could want. It isn't a classic, but I didn't walk out feeling like I was cheated out of my money. And, at 88 minutes, it sailed along with no parts to drag.

This movie has so many notes struck between a married (or long term) couple that its scary! This was a really funny movie - laugh out loud in several parts. I have to say, they both look great and this was a very enjoyable movie. Yes, the plot is hard to believe, but that's the point. If you are young and not married, ie. the teenagers that were sitting in front of me and my wife, don't bother. Don't go see this movie thinking you will see The Office or The 40-Year old Virginh, etc, etc.
This movie is perfect for adult couples with a family. It can be hilarious but also make you think about your own relationship at the same time.
Kinda reminds me of Couples retreat but in a different way.
It is well worth the time and at only 88 minutes you will still have time to go out and have a good Date Night of your own.

Great coupling of Tina Fey and Steve Carell. This movie was as funny as I anticipated. The cameo performance by Mark Whalberg will take you back to his Boggie Night character Dirk Diggler. I hope to see this comedic duo back together again.... Don't hesitate, go to a theater near you and get your LAUGH ON!!!

So much promise and so much disappointment! Date nite promised to be a truly funny movie, with extremely talented actor-comedians, but unfortunately, once they were pushed through the typical formulaic hollywood meat grinder, there was really little or no room for creativity, short of Steve Carrels' occasional sympathetic and expressive eyes, and Tina Fey's momentary morphing into the whore from planet T. Someone should let these guys write their own stuff!!!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I was expecting a standard romantic comedy but instead thought this was just comedy period. The two of them together are amazing and I was roaring with laughter throughout. My girlfriend agreed but her boyfriend and my husband just thought it was okay. But I promise you it is just a great all around, entertaining and uplifting movie.
