As usual, watching Sex and the City (including 2) is like catching up with your girlfriends. I enjoyed the real-life issues that were addressed (menopause, child-rearing, marriage after the "honeymoon" phase, etc.). I wish there had been a little more to the plot other than a great, exotic vacation. Oh, and Aidan. Not as many laugh-out-loud parts, but it definitely still had a handful. The music was fun, too.

Yes, a lot of critics have given this movie horrible reviews...and i totally diagree.
I have been a fan of the series for along time and have watched the ladies grown over 10 years. The second movie definitely characterized the struggles that each of them has had over the past years perfectly and gave them a release as always!
The fab 4 continue to grow and figure things out in their lives, like we all do.
The movie was funny, romantic, sexy (the men are amazzzzzzing), heartbreaking...it had it all.
If you were a fan of the series, a true fan who wants to see whats next for carrie and big, go see this movie.

Was the fashion great, yes. However the entire time while watching this film you are waiting for a plot line to develope. The acting was annoyingly juvenile and some scenes were down right ridiculous. There were actual moments where I questioned if I had accidently walked into a Disney movie. The characters were not well engaged, the chemistry was off, the puns were delivered too frequently, and Carrie's self administered drama is getting a little old. Aiden's appearance was redundant and not developed well at all. The whole time I was just hoping the movie would not really last the full two hours and twenty three minutes. So disappointing!

Loads of fun. Truly felt as if you were catching up with old friends. This movie was filled with great fashions, exotic locales, and witty quips. The ladies looked smashing as always. In spite of the horrible reviews this has been getting, a friend and I figured, "what the hell, it still has to be fun and it's not like we're expected brilliant cinema anyway..." But I spent most of the movie either cringing or rolling my eyes. Compared to the first movie, which had a better-than-expected storyline and was full of strong performances and a fairly believable plot, this is full of weak performances, tired jokes and a simply ridiculous plotline. The scenes in the desert were so laughable to me... of course, who DOESN'T want to get dressed up in designer fashions, don 5-inch spiked heels and walk through the Arabian Desert? Some of the scenes were so poorly performed I wondered where the director was and why a couple more takes weren't ordered. Overall it seems as desperate of a film as its characters (Samantha especially).
Visually, it is of course beautiful. And the fashion is as always the main character. But for me this was a ridiculous waste of time & money--not just mine, but the time & money spent to film it. Too bad. Of course people will go see it in droves anyway. But that's 2+ hours of my life I'll never get back.

I don't like to go see movies in the theaters mostly because I don't like to spend my money. However, I went in to see this movie expecting to see a movie about 4 best friends with awesome fashion and a new boatload of "life" problems.

If you haven't grown up and gone through the seasons these women have, in your own life, your own season, or your own way, than you're probably not going to get it this time around.
This time the ladies are still glitzy, glamourous, and tongue and cheek as ever, but more mature, moving towards mid life and the various realizations that comes with it. No, they are not Clueless, One Tree Hill, or For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf, they are Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, doing them, their way.
Theres lots of fluff and puff and movie magic, but the story, dialogue and finer points of who they are, where they are in life, and how it relates to us all on a human level carried the day for me and made the film very enjoyable!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. A good, fantasy escape with some very real issues re. marriage and family covered with humor and poignance. Lots of laughs and wonderment at the wardrobes. However, Samantha was depicted very negatively when it came to respecting and learning about the Arab culture in Abu Dabi. The movie needed to handle that in a more sensitive and positive way with Samantha at first making her mistakes and being set straight by Miranda.

Let me preface this by saying that I love Sex and the City (the TV series and first movie). The characters, the writing, the acting, the story lines... all great. THIS is not Sex and the City. It may be the same characters and the same actors but the acting, the writing, and the story lines that made Sex and the City great are all GONE. The acting in the first ten minutes of the movie made me think I was watching a high school play (and I'm not talking a "Glee" high school play). The writers tried to throw in one obnoxious one-liner after another and NONE of them were funny. There was no chemistry between Carrie and Big and hardly any between any of the girls! The movie was so awful, that it made me feel sad. Sad for the actors that clearly "just weren't into" this movie, sad for the writers who are clearly out of touch, and sad for the fans who (after sitting for 2.5 hours) will be left with THIS as the last memory of their (former) favorite characters.

Same plot as 80% of every episode. Carrie gets upset because _____ (insert name of guy here) can't read her mind. She then needs to go 'find herself' (an excuse then to shop, travel or both) and then realizes that she had it all in the begining and comes to terms with it with a final monologe.... If that's all you really expect from the movie, then you'll enjoy it. Not worth the 10 bucks a person, more like a $5 rental- but if you're other half is really bugging you about not sitting on the couch and getting out on the town for a while- it will make an easy date night... It's got a couple of laughs, the tradtional cheese, some funny stuff and of course shoes and frocks...but who's seen NYC or a Spice Market ever look that clean?
If you're going to go see it, it's proably deliver exactly what you expected to see. There's No plot, no action, no acting but I can't give it a bad review, just fair. I saw exactly what I went to see.

I really liked this 2nd installment! In fact, I liked it much better than the first one. Not with standing the ending which was just as silly as in the first, this was satisfying. People! Sex in the city does not and has never made serious socio political statements--its entertainment pure and simple. No, there weren't any people of color--but there never is. Beyond that there were some pretty memorable moments and I'm a happy customer. Now, take a sip!

I agree with all the other reviews. The first movie was awesome. I was so excited to see number 2, but was a little disappointed. Something seemed to be missing...maybe a little chemistry. There were some very funny and serious stuff. Liza's performance was great and loved seeing Aidan.

I adored this movie and the people in it. The fashion took my breath away in every scene. I'm a fan, always will be -- and as someone who can relate to the lives of the women portrayed in the movie, I loved having over 2 hours of fantasy in a world where most people are bored and frustrated with their lives. Who DOESN'T want a life of LUXURY left to their own design???
