This really was a good movie, but for a Christmas movie, I was hoping for something a little more uplifting. It was slow, sad, a little depressing.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I love Robert De Niro and I think all others in the movie acted really well. The movie made me sad, but at the same time it reminded me of my dad and I started crying. I have to say, I was expecting comedy, but I left feeling heart broken. I would like everyone to watch this movie, but bring a tissue with you.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie was a chapter in a family's life that could have been like any of ours, which I really liked. I found it very realistic and I laughed and cried. I love Robert De Niro, but this is not the type of movie I like to see in a theatre. I prefer to see movies that are going to move me to tears at home and didn't realize this was going to be the case with this film. I don't think "Action/Adventure" is an accurate GENRE, but I liked the movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

DeNiro is pretty good, as are the others, and there are some good moments. But oh so predictable. And how is it that the plane on which DeNiro takes off is different from the one in which he lands? And that the New York train station is a big, Euro-style shed, unlike either Grand Central or Penn Station. That details like this are so obviously wrong not only distracts but gives one a sense that the director harbors a certain contempt for the audience.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Robert De Niro was great as always, but the movie was very depressing. Although there was a "message" in this movie, it was not really delivered until the end of the movie. It really dragged and I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Definitely not what I was hoping for at Christmastime.

Robert De Niro holds this movie together with his low key portrayal of a man trying to deal with the death of his wife who obviously kept him in the dark about what his children were doing. Even though the mood of the movie is sombre and very real, it shows the power of trying to reach out to each other. Introspection of Deniro's character was powerful as the reality of his life comes crashing down around him. The ending shows that truth wins out as scary as it is for us to bare our souls.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a very depressing story of a man who realizes his failures as a father after his wife dies. The story sets you up for a very emotional finale as you realize, along with the main character, that people are rarely the way you perceive them to be. In retrospect, I enjoyed the movie only because the ending delivered. See it if you're in the mood for some reality this holiday.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The plot revolves around De Niro's character, a retired blue-collar worker dealing with the loss of his wife and his four grown children that have gone off to disparate locations and lives. Since his children fail to show up for a planned weekend at his place, he heads off to "surprise" them by train and bus.
There aren't any guffaws, although occasional smiles laced with poignant moments along the way as De Niro discovers the truth about his family and himself..
The only memorable music was the McCartney song over the closing credits. which was worth sitting through as we were treated to the many "photos" De Niro's character takes throughout the movie with his old-fashioned non-digital camera.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I went to see this movie with my husband because I thought it was going to be a "feel good" holiday movie. However, it was a little too heavy and certainly not related to the holidays. It was certainly a tear jerker, but it's the kind of movie you want to watch when you are already feeling a little sad. We went to see it on our anniversary, and it was just too deep for that kind of a setting.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This is a good movie. Robert De Niro plays a man who lost his wife within the last year and now has to live alone clueless about what is actually going on with life and his family. Because the kids treat him like a stranger on the street about what is actually going on in their lives he gets a life changing awakening when he tries to visit them.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
