Coming off of Transformers 2, I was concerned about whether they could turn this around, but they did! The first half of the movie drags a little, but the second half is action packed and amazing. The graphics are incredible. The fight scenes are exciting!
I would just say, at the beginning of the movie, noticed how much "DC" looks like Chicago. I had to laugh!
But it was a great movie, and a great experience to watch it with a fun audience that clapped when certain things happened. And it was really, really cool to have walked around the city this time last year, saw the movie being filmed, and then seeing it come together on the screen. The whole experience was just a lot of fun.
This movie entails a very complex storyline. I was really impressed how they were really able to hold it together. The movie has virtually no lulls, so you really can't afford to take your eyes off the screen or stop paying attention. It's just constantly unraveling relevant details to the plot or filled with action.
I have two minor complaints about the movie. I think they screwed up with the casting of Ellen Page in her role. She didn't seem right for the part at all. And secondly, for some unexplainable reason, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance was a total impersonation of Keanu Reeves. I'm not quite sure why anyone would want to do that - and I'm pretty sure that wasn't his intention - but it was a little distracting.
Other than those two issues, this is another great example of a Christopher Nolan classic in the making. Might I note that Hans Zimmer composed the music for this movie as well (he co-composed the music for The Dark Knight). The dramatic cinematography, along with the dramatic soundtrack, really just tie this entire movie together. Very, very good.
So long as you know what you are getting into, I am sure you will enjoy the movie. If you are looking for a movie that is going to touch your heart, you've come to the wrong place. But if you're looking for a movie that will make you laugh, that has non-stop action, and lots of things blowing up, this movie is for you.
My criticisms of the movie include the unbelievable story line and Jessica Biel's lack of acting skills. But the positives include that it was A LOT funnier than I thought it would be, and the action very rarely stopped. I am a huge Liam fan, and he definitely didn't let me down.
If you watched the show as a child, I think you will be pleasantly surpried with the movie. I definitely recommend it for action movie fans.
I thought it was VERY entertaining. And considering how bad sequels usually are, I was particularly impressed with this movie. I highly recommend it. It is a particularly great distraction from finals!
It's a movie that makes you think. You probably will want to discuss the movie after you see it, and then you will end up liking it more than your initial reaction. I think it's just a movie that requires you to look back to totally digest and understand everything that happened.
A group of us went, and we all liked it, but it was the discussion afterward that helped seal the deal.
Although DiCaprio isn't as strong in this performance as he was in The Departed, he is still really good.
I went to see this movie with my husband because I thought it was going to be a "feel good" holiday movie. However, it was a little too heavy and certainly not related to the holidays. It was certainly a tear jerker, but it's the kind of movie you want to watch when you are already feeling a little sad. We went to see it on our anniversary, and it was just too deep for that kind of a setting.
It is a good movie, and it is entertaining, but it is a little slow in the beginning. Once things start to progress, the suspense keeps coming faster. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking children to this movie. I left thinking, "that was creepy but not THAT scary." And then I couldn't sleep all night. I think it would be more scary watching it in your home, so I recommend watching it at the theater.
