This is what an action movie should be - big, dumb, explodey. Don't go looking for great acting or big dramatic scenes (though Mickey Rourke gives it his all with what little he's given). Do go looking for lots of fun, good action and some pretty good one-liners. This is an old school, good old fashioned, straight up action movie they just don't make anymore.

My husband and I loved it. We are action junkies and love Stallone, Stathan and the other action heros. Even though it was a little elementary, that's ok. Stallone did a pretty good job. It was also good to see that we actually recognized Mickey Rourke (with all of the surgery). My grandsons will love it.

While the story and acting is much better than I thought it would be (my two boys insisted on seeing this - it wouldn't have been my choice), the shoot-outs and fight scenes just seemed to drag on and repeat over and over, therefore rendering this movie a bit boring in my opinion. But if you enjoy that sort of thing, The Expendables will be number one for you!

First of all, this is a man's film. Don't take your wife or girlfriend unless your body can rate with the men in this film or else you'll spend the whole film listening to her drool all over herself and wish you would hit the gym more often. That said, overall, it was a great action film. Stallone delivers again as the primary pitchman for gyms and the American firearms industry. It's not as bloody as Rambo, but only because he had to parcel out more of the action to the other stars. I wish they had fleshed out the characters and storyline a bit more. The rogue CIA guys were vague and the dictator and location were standard A-Team quality. We don't get to learn too much about the heroes either, but then we'd need a three hour film for that and even Rambo needed sequels for us to know anything about that character. This is a manly movie. The violence is top rate, the weapons are first rate and the women, for once, don't screw up the storyline. Cops and those who carry concealed will love the pistolcraft in this movie. Stallone looks great for 63. I hope he can sneak in a sequel before he retires from action films for good.

My 14 year old brought me kicking and screaming to this movie. After seeing the "Other Guys" I was not so keen on seeing another movie made for the boys. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it. Some critics are just plain jealous. One reviewer said "Stallone has no wrinkles and he's 64 years old". Who cares; he's on steroids and he admits it to stay young. The movie was non-stop action and Dolph Lundgren was terrific as a drugged out good/bad guy on the edge. Van Dam was an idiot for turning down any role which involved this movie. I bet he's kicking himself in the back of the head this very moment. Stallone deserves credit for exposing a more flawed action persona.

You know those movies that you see in the trailers and make a metal note to go and see - then, when you go to see them, they are a disappointment?
Well The Expendables is definitely NOT one of those. It exceeded my expectations and gave myself and the two teenage boys I took nearly two hours of [admittedly violent] entertainment.

Recently ordered tickets online from movie tickets.com When I arrived at the theater it was a complete mess. The ticket Kiosk were broken, stood in line to get my pre-paid tickets from the counter. When the tickets were printed I only received 2 of the three that I had purchased. They made me see customer service to retrieve the third ticket. The final result was that the order was screwed up and I spent extra time trying to get the tickets I paid for. Would never use the movietickets.com service again.

I enjoyed this movie. Imagine...a movie with no message shaming me into going green, or berating the country, or vilifying capitalism. No message about becoming more sensitive and compassionate. The movie started out pretty well with lots of excitement but later on drags into a pointless story that makes an excuses to have stupid explosions and gore. I didn't come into the movie asking for too much because of how much stars was cast in the movie. But I guess you can say this one is better off waiting for DVD.

OK, so it's a guy flick with lots of action but it did have a good story line to it. For me it was seeing all these action guys and how old they have gotten. Too funny but still worth seeing the flick...

Stallone is 64 and has not a wrinkle on his face - his goatee changes colors more times than his hair - Mickey Roarke looks like someone on boworred time - Jason Stratham is great as usual - the plot is pathetic -
Bottom line - If you over 40 - don't bother -

Horray for Stone! This is a good movie and well worth the price of the ticket. If you are a fan of blowing stuff up and military style tactics, you'll love this movie. The cameo Arnold made was spot on and whets your appetite for the next big blockbuster with Stallone and Arnold. Go see this movie now!
