My 14 year old brought me kicking and screaming to this movie. After seeing the "Other Guys" I was not so keen on seeing another movie made for the boys. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it. Lots of explosions and action and a lot of fun. This movie should have been rated PG 13 not R. I look forward to the sequel.
This movie is torture if you are an adult. I have to say it is the worst movie that I have seen this summer. I took by 12 and 14 year boys to see it. The sexual language was so inappropriate and not even funny. The script was ridiculously stupid. Do not waste your money. Wait for the DVD if you must see it. If your kid says, but "I have to see it, Derek Jeter is in it", as my kid did, tell him that Jeter is in it for only two seconds and turn on the Yankee game for him instead.
For anyone who read the book see this movie. It's a real treat. Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem have great chemistry. People who did not read the book should read it first before seeing the movie as important events in the book are glossed over by the movie.
The movie is about a trip that author Liz Gilbert took to find herself after a divorce. So she decides to go to Rome for the food and to learn Italian, India to learn to meditate and Bali to spend time with a medicine man she knows. Her journey is a reminder to all of us take the opportunity to make life long memories (and just have fun) even when you think that it just can't be done because of the responsibilities of everyday life and the relationships that tie us.
