This was a fun movie. It was laugh out loud funny, and the humor was clean enough that I didn't have to be embarassed that my daughter was sitting next to me in the theatre. It was a bit heavy handed in the parts that conveyed the "message" of the movie, but everyone in the theatre (myself included) was laughing through most of the film.

Of course, with the comedic line up of this stature, you expect a funny movie. Well, thats what you get with this one. All of the guys lend their comedy style to this film and make it hilarious from beginning to end. Right in the middle it slows down a bit but there is a deep meaning to this film and it is focusing on that. Great film for families with children over 13. Dude, that was every bit as funny as I hoped, given the massive cast. I'm already planning to see it again in theaters, and that's something I pretty much never do. This movie is hysterical! The one-liners between the guys had the audience literally roaring with laughter. I had to catch my breath a few times because I was laughing so hard.
It's funnier than Big Daddy and less funny than Happy Gilmore so it's right up there with the best of Sandler. Here's my thoughts on the others: Spade - top notch James - love the physical humor Rock - could've been funnier but was confined by his role Schneider - I don't know how he keeps a straight face
The ladies were also great and my husband thoroughly enjoyed just watching Salma Hayek and getting to see her in a swimsuit and cheerleader outfit.
Overall a perfect date night movie.

Will this movie win an Oscar? No. But if you want to laugh, this is the movie to go and see. Adam Sandler plays a normal character, not the goofy, odd voiced character he's played in other movies, such as Little Nicky. David Spade, Chris Rock, and Kevin James are great! I saw this last night and went in hoping that all there were more funny scenes than those shown in the previews. I was not disappointed! I laughed and laughed along with everyone else in the theater. What made it so funny was that it really seemed like you were watching old friends hang out instead of a scripted movie. There was no forced humor, hardly any foul language and some life lessons and touching moments that really made this a great movie.

Overall this is a great if you want to have nearly 2 hours of non-thinking laughter. 3/4 of the movie seems to be ad-libbed with each guy bringing his own strengths to the table. No matter how mindless, its always funny to see Kevin James fall or run into something. There are some dead spots and no major plot conflicts to resolve. If you are familiar with each guys "schtick" then you will get what you expect. I was impressed with the minimal amount of foul language as well but could have gone w/o seeing David Spade and Norm McDonalds bare cheeks.

We saw this movie with a group of friends & we were all disappointed. I love Adam Sandler & just expected a little more from him. Some parts were boring, especially the beginning. The "few" parts that made me laugh were HILARIOUS!! I would recommend that you wait for this one to come out on DVD.

Went to see this with my husband and a friend. From the very beginning, we laughed - we kept laughing until the credits rolled. The cast is an amazing group and they play off each other wonderfully. There we several good "lessons" in the movie which is always a nice plus. Several one liners which were quoted after we left the theater and will be in the days to come, Remembering parts of the movie would throw us into fits of laughter as we remembered the comments and one liners from the actors. Wonderful movie, highly recommended!!

Last night I went to the premiere of "The Grownups" and I believe that it is a must see movie. This movie exceeded my exceptions. Besides the previews, there are a lot of funny parts in the movie too. It's a cute movie especially for families.

Worth renting, but not theater worthy. Was chalked mostly of one liners and burns, a few hilarious but most just so-so. Storyline was extremely shallow, I mean I didn't expect Shawshank, but really. Was OK at best. Was disappointed with Chris Rock's subdued character. If you've seen the previews, you've seen all the best moments of the movie already.

Tonight we went to see Grown Ups. The movie was sold out,, so I was able to get a good over view on what everyone thought of it. The crowd really laughed long and hard over most of the movie!! Everyone seemed to have a great time! The script was great, the actors were a perfect group to have been brought together! It did have one or two slow points, but those were few and far between... followed by amazing laughs. I recommend this movie highly!! It shows that if people would get rid of the busy world of electronic games, gadgets, and too much work..some of .the simplier things in life can be better to enjoy, and savor..
