Eclipse was great! I've read all the Twilight books and have been waiting for this movie. It has action, but the movie became more about the love triangle between Bella, Jacob, and Edward. It was more romantic than the previous two movies, but just as good!

The Review
Eclipse is the third novel in Stephenie Meyer’s popular Twilight series. You really want to have read Twilight and New Moon (in that order) first before reading Eclipse, because the author doesn’t spend too much time expounding the story-lines of the previous novels but rather drops the reader straight in to the story. You also want to read Twilight and New Moon because they are both excellent novels and, trust me, you are missing out if you haven’t read them.
Eclipse carries on not long after New Moon left off. Bella’s high school graduation is approaching and she will soon be leaving Forks forever, ostensibly to go to college - but in reality she is planning to join her boyfriend in his vampire existence and will therefore be unable to return home, due to being dead and possessed by a terrible blood lust for the first few years. Not that the reader is actually taken that far in this story, we make it through graduation but then the dangerous vampires from Seattle come to Forks and dealing with them dominates the rest of the novel.
This is only one part of the story though. Eclipse is primarily a romantic saga, so Bella and Edward’s relationship is the primary focus of the novel. Or as I should say Bella, Edward and Jacob’s relationship - because there is a love triangle in the plot of this novel.
Bella and Jacob have always been friends, at least they were - right up until Jacob became a werewolf. Then the enmity between vampires and werewolves put a huge strain on their friendship. Besides which, Jacob is in love with Bella, who is in love with Edward so this is going to make things awkward between them.
At this point, Eclipse descends into soap opera territory – Bella has found her soul mate in Edward but Jacob is the soul mate she should have / could have / would have had if Edward didn’t exist. She loves him too but not as much as Edward. Why she loves Jacob is beyond me – he knows that she loves Edward but Jacob still tries to make her feel guilty that she can’t love him like he wants her too. Blatant emotional blackmail is unattractive whatever way you serve it up and it detracted from his otherwise fine character. Worse, it lead to a large proportion of this book being devoted to teenage angst and with this book being 628 pages long that a substantial amount of angst!
To be fair, Eclipse is written for the young adult market so I really shouldn’t complain about the teen angst and the drama but for me it meant that this book lacked the magical quality that made Twilight stand out from the crowd of vampire romances available in bookstores today. Don’t misunderstand me - Eclipse is still a really good read. The book didn’t feel like it was over 600 pages long, I literally flew through the pages and had to make a conscious effort to slow down my reading so I didn’t finish the whole book in a couple of sittings.
For teens already hooked on the series, Eclipse is another solid instalment of Forks goodness. Adult readers may be put off by the teenage relationship angst in this novel but if you have already enjoyed the author’s previous offerings I think there is still plenty here to entertain.
It will be intriguing to see where Stephenie Meyer takes the ideas and characters in this series next. Writing for the Young Adult market always means that there is some expectation for the author to set a good example for impressionable young minds yet criticisms that Bella’s character is too dependent and needs to set a better example for young women seem unfair. This is romantic fantasy – enjoy it!

I did not like twilight- New Moon was better. Eclipse was great, very different from the other 2.
I saw Eclipse with a twilight fan and someone who had never seen either film.
Surprisingly, we all really liked the film.
A good time- easily recommend this film.

I read the 1st 2 books but not this one so can't compare the transition, but I did like this movie better than the 1st 2. Lots of improvements, though still not a Kristen Stewart fan. I was glad to see more info. about the history of some of the Cullens, especially Jasper. I did not care for the actress who played Victoria, the 1st one was awesome. The movie is definately a teen girl love triangle type movie and they will love it, but even as a middle aged woman I still enjoy the series so far. Sorry everyone, but I'm definately "Team Jacob". Edward is just a little too melodramatic for me. Overall the series is great, I will read the book, Eclipse, and look forward to Breaking Dawn.

The newest movie in the Twilight series, Eclipse, is the best of the three. The actors seem to feel more comfortable in their roles and they seem to have read the book this time around. The expanded budget was evident throughout the film and gave it a realistic feel. I would recommend the book to a Twilight series fanatic, but honestly, this movie can wait to be rented.

The movie was a wonderful accompaniment to the novel. My only concern is that they didn't develop Jacob enough or explain imprinting enough, which may present a problem when the fourth movie is released. For all of the readers it will not be an issue, however for the fans that just watch the movies it may create a little confusion.

I have read all the books and love the whole Twilight saga... The problem with this movie was that if you hadn't read the books you won't know what is happening a lot of the time. This new director did a poor, poor job. They put in things that were unnecessary and left out things you need to know to tie into the next book. The first two were made much better. This one felt cheesy and like they just went right through the screenplay. I am a little afraid for them to make the next movie... it could be terrible! It's almost like they figure we will all go see it anyway so they don't have to put in any work... As I said disappointing.

I thought that the movies are getting better and better. I was disappointed in the cast of actors when I first saw the movie Twilight. I am a huge fan of the books and I thought that the acting was not up to par at all. After seeing the third movie I have seen a huge change in the acting of the two leads. They seem to be more connected in the story and the story if you have not read the books becomes more believable.

The movie was OK, but I'm always disappointmed by HOW MUCH they cut out from the book. The movie was 2 hours long, but I still feel like they cut too much out. All of the suspense/drama/anx was gone...Bella was "on the in" with everything that happened and the movie was completely predictable. Better than New Moon, but nothing to get too excited about. Hopefully they retain the tension in the final movie(s) that keeps you glued to the book!

I have read all the books 8 times and each movie has out done my expectations. Ecipse is my favorite book out of series and the movie is right there with the book. Bella finally realizing where her heart really lays with Edward is the basis of the story in my opinion and Eclipse shows that. My only disappointment in the movie is the communication between the wolves is not present in the movie as it is books. All in all a kick ass movie can't wait for Breaking Dawn

Eclipse was much better than the last two. The screen writing was better, the acting allot better. My husband did not like Twilight or New Moon. This one, Eclipse he said could stand alone on its own. He was pleased as was I.
I plan on seeing it at least once more if I can afford it twice more before it leaves theaters.
You will NOT be disappointed in its overall content. I do wish some of the scenes would have stuck closer to the novel...but that is the case with any movie that is based on a novel. See it. You will be impressed.

Although I prefer the way Chris directed New Moon's love triangle better than David's in Eclipse, I think that the action is far more intense in the third installment!!! The movie was much better than the first two. The dialog is getting better and less melodramatic and more a little more believeable.
Jasper plays a lot bigger roll as he does in the book and Jackson nails the part well. The screenwriters did a good job of chopping out the useless parts of the book.
I can't get over how good the wolves' cgi looks. They look all big and fluffy.
Good over all movie. You can tell it's based on a story written for teenage girls because the romance is candy coated and not the least bit realistic.
If you can look past that its an enjoyable movie. Jacob of course is treated like crap as he is through the whole book series. If this was a real teenager he would have torn Edward's throat out by the end of book two but this is a romatic story with no basis in reality and you can tell the author has no insight at all into the male thought process.
good movie ... would watch it again.

I saw the movie twice already! The movie stayed true to the book. All of the actors took their acting skills up a notch. The flow was great easy to follow. The action scenes were Brilliant. The wolves were in full affect. The romance scenes, well what can I say.... Awesome! Mr. Slade you have truly out done yourself. Praises go out to all who was involved in the making of this film. I'll be watching a third time. Good Luck with Breaking Dawn....Can't wait!

I have never read these books and am basing my opinion solely on the movies. Granted this was the best movie so far in the franchise, that's not saying a whole lot. The dialogue in these movies is so awkward and forced, I can't take it seriously. I also don't find any of the characters particularly likable. They all irk me in some way. I really feel that the only believable characters are Charlie and Carlisle and maybe Alice. They are the only ones with a warmth about them, whether vampire or not. And I really didn't understand the Volturi's role or purpose in this movie, though that was probably just a bad book to screen translation. Overall it was mildly entertaining, but left me unsatisfied.

As someone who read all of the books I was really glad to see that the movie stayed true to the book series.
I will probably see the movie another time or two and look forward to picking up on little things I may have missed.
