As expected the plot line left me bored - we've seen this same story countless number of times, however the visuals were stunning. If you go to this movie, go to the 3D IMAX version - the cool visuals are well worth the cost. The plot? Not so much...

The story line was formulaic and predictable, but the graphics and the details of life on Pandora were pretty amazing. Kept our interest and neither one of us had to take a bathroom break for the entire 3 hours (counting previews) which says a lot.

Wow what a film and it was not like anything I was expecting. I thought I was going to see some hokey science fiction flick with a lot of bells and whistles but was I wrong. A great film with terrefic acting and special effects. If you're going to see this do all you can to see it is IMAX 3D. Incredible.

This is one of the best moves of all times. I can see why it took 15 years from start to production for the technology to advance to a stage where it could produce such effects. This first movie is just the beginning of a new wave of excitement and spinoffs, who knows where this is going. The hype will be around for a while and for one I am going to enjoy every bit of it. I am a sneior Male adult and it makes me a kid again, I love it.

Cameron outdid himself. We saw it at 10pm in a snow storm in 3D IMAX. What an experience. To lump this 3D with the 3D of the past is to compare a Model-T to a Porsche 911.
People will read all sorts of meanings into the story liine - it was a good story, great action and beautifully done.

My wife wasn't really interested, so I went with some friends from work. It was so awesome and so in need of being seen on the big screen in Imax 3D that I convinced my wife to go with me for a date night away from the kids. She (like I) was blown away. We highly recommend it.

I'm sorry I just don't know what all the hype is about.. Yes, the 3D effects and the cinematography were awesome. But after awhile I got bored with everything else. Grade C+
Now "It's Complicated" - I never laughed so hard in my life. Grade: A

This was a great movie. I had heard disappointment in the way of , "Too simple plot." So what? The character development, the special effects, the 3D and the beauty of the story line were phenomenal. I would like to be an Avatar. It kept you captivated the whole 2 hr and 40 minutes - I never wanted to leave and Iwished it was still playing. A wonderful fantasy.

Simply put, a stunning and visually amazing film, that you can't miss. The film has to be seen in 3D, and the bigger the screen, the better :-)
If you don't like to be wowed, moved, or go through something amazing, don't see it. But if you want to see a movie that will go into the history books, see it.

I don't know what people are talking about. Went to see it with my wife and we left after an hour and half. Just not worth the hype. You can't make something 2D 3D. When people understand that will be better off. Would have much rather seen this film in blue-ray on a 50+ OLED TV. If you like hype go see, otherwise save your cash for blue-ray version.

This should have been a good movie. It had intelligent themes of environmental exploitation, colonialism, aboriginal culture, military-industrial complex, David vs. Goliath, with a sprinkling of sexism and an identity search thrown in.
But it was generic. there was no emotional depth.
(Or maybe I have a hard time emotionally connecting to 8 ft tall blue humanoids...)
Weak "blockbuster" follow-up to Titanic.

I loved the visual experience. The special effects are great and the scenery is amazing. The story line was a let-down but not enough to take away from the amazing 3-D Imax experience. Worth the time for sure!

I have seen this movie three times, seeing something new each time. The last showing I saw was the IMAX version and all I can say is WOW!!! What a great movie fast paced with tons of action and a message to all we need to learn to live together with each other as well as nature before it is to late. If you ever going to catch a movie this is one everyone needs to see.

I saw it in IMAX 3D. I thought it was a beautiul movie. It had a message to deliver about man kind itself. It had some violence, but it was a war movie essentially. The scenery was unbelievable and the Navi' were so lifelike . I just loved it, and I'm 62 years old. The only minor dissapointment was I thought in 3D things came out at you in the audience, this didn't happen, but seeing it in 3D made it all the more awesome.

Loads of reviews about the movie itself. Seeing it in IMAX 3D was amazing. The 3D was surprisingly natural and very unobtrusive (unlike some other 3D experiences I've had). It only added to the experience of this very good movie. The huge IMAX screen and the incredible sound system round out an incredible movie experience.

Awesome movie with visual effects, a must see in Imax 3-d. Profanity and a little to much violence takes away from this movie. Did not need the profanity at all and maybe a little less violence would make this one of the best I have ever enjoyed seeing.

I have never been so moved by a single movie. The plot was intensely clear, and the messages were so true they invoked real pain. Pandora may be a fantasy world, but the ideals are significant enough to serve as a reality check. BE your own Avatar! Live well and righteous. But also remain humble. While entertaining, with great visual effects and a multi-level storyline, the underlying thematics were troubling and stereotypically Hollywood. Corporations are bad (so bad they're even ultimately self-destructing), the US military is bad (the security forces were all former active duty military, even to the point of wearing US style uniforms), unbelievably brutal, etc. I am concerned with what youth and international audiences will see, hear and conclude.

Awesome movie. The detail, imagination, deliverance, animation, story line and message portrayed, in my opinion, was A+. Even in 2054 the spirit for standing up for belief in doing what is right is evident. Yeah.....kind of restores the faith of "in with genuine goodness and out with greed".
