I never thought I would see something as good as the Lord of the Rings triology, but this one comes close or even equals it in just 2 hours and 40 minutes. The animated sequences were so real that they seamlessly blended into the live action sequences. The basic good versus evil story was delivered using the best technology available, making the story totally believable as I watched it. It moved me to tears at some points and awed me with the beauty and creativity of the setting. This is a must see for everyone.

I went to see this movie for the technical aspects as much as the viewing pleasure and was not disappointed. The visual effects in Avatar are stunning. The story line is OK and the action is fast paced. I have to say though, I don't think I'll run out and offer to see it again with my friends multiple times like I did when Star Wars first came out. Still, it was very impressive. I saw a lot of parallels with Aliens (the 2nd movie of the series) with the space marines, giant robot suites, Hispanic female heroin, sub orbital flying machines and let's not forget Sigourney Weaver. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Go out and see it!

I was waiting for this movie to come out on dvd but, thanks to one of my friends, who said that I must see it in theaters and in 3D, I went and saw it. I did take it a step further and saw it in IMAX 3D. If you are thinking about seeing it in theaters but not sure, then Two Words for you: MUST SEE!!! Dvd / Blue Ray is great but it will probably not give it a good enough justice... $16 Well spent!!!

If I couldn't read or hear, this movie would be perect. Visually stunning, but the storyline is average, the dialogue is cheesy and the military as the villain is two-dimensional and boing. Give me a reason why this army guy is bad! But Pandora is beautiful and the special effects/3D is great.

What a wonderful movie on all levels - great plot, great acting, the most incredible CGI and 3D effects ever. It was wonderful because it was intelligent and there were so many parallels with what occured with native americans in this country. It's nice to see a movie that has action and is still intelligent and deep. In IMAX it was a clearly visible improvement over the regular cinema.

This movie is a landmark. The illusion of a third dimension is seamless, perfect. Well, a little exaggerated, but you don't perceive multiple overlapping images, like 3D from years ago. This is a fantasy movie, so its story line is simple enough and not really nuanced. But the look of the movie is fabulous. It's daunting to imagine the man-hours that went into creation of the computer generated images that are so full of detail and full of imagination. There are imaginative critters. Motions, of flying, walking, running, etc., are all naturalistic. This movie is a technological marvel, and an entertaining tale as well. Not to be missed!

I think the IMAX/3D expierience gave it a more realistic feel to it, however, what if I hadn't seen it in a IMAX/3D theater? Would I been dissapointed? It was a good movie, but I wouldn't see it again. It's just a movie. My deepest sympathy for those who lost loved ones who commited suicide after watching this movie or got depress, but it's just a movie & I didn't feel depressed or want to commit suicide. Great cinematography.

I've seen it twice and will probably see it again. It was like being in the movie because of the 3D effect. I haven't enjoyed 3D movies in the past because of the glasses they used (the blue and red). These glasses are more like Sun glasses and fit comfortably over my regular glasses. It's a long movie but didn't feel it. The detail of everything in this movie are beyond comprehension. I don't think many people will be disappointed if you see it in 3D.

I recommend seeing this in IMAX 3D only. I was very impressed with the visuals, but the story was typical Cameron/Hollywood bs. I'll probably never deliberately watch it again, but I'm glad i saw it in an IMAX 3D theatre.

I saw this movie at a regular theater first. I live in Miami and there is no local IMAX theater (full 5 story screen). I enjoyed it but was left wanting more from the '3D' side of the movie. Then I went to Ft. Lauderdale to the only true IMAX theater...totally different experience! I couldn't see it enough! The 3D and the sound changes the whole movie experience. I then wanted to see it again and found a semi-IMAX theater at the local movie theater and was pleasantly surprised to still have a good experience! IMAX 3D is the way to go!!!

This is a eye-popping movie that absolutely must be seen in IMAX to be appreciated. It shares a lot with Cameron's other epic, Titanic, in that the plot is a little hackneyed, and you know what is coming from the beginning. Also like Titanic, since you know what's coming, at some point you wish the movie would just get on with it rather than spend more than 45 minutes going into character development and subplots. Otherwise, though, the movie was entertaining, and the special effects are mind-blowing. The feeling of immersion with IMAX was not to be missed.
