The best film that will probably not receive a single Oscar nomination. And that's because you have to be fairly intelligent to appreciate a film like this. The acting was as perfect as it could be. The directing was expected considering the legend behind this project. And the cinematography was pronominal considering they didn't use any dollys or artificial "movie lights". All natural, baby. Bravo to the cast and crew. You all made a fine piece of cinema. I just wish more films were made with this much intelligence and meaning.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I wish i could rate it 0 Star/s. Aronofsky's is like Benjamin Button, his career is decaying film by film. His best picture was his first and every film thereafter is his latest worst. This movie was way too dramatic. the pacing was actually too fast. i really didn't get a chance to believe the dynamic between Portman's character and her mother. far too many close ups and it looked awful. the Super 16mm mixed with the Canon HD footage looked amateurish. I really don't get what all the hype is about. maybe i need too see the real Swan Lake in order to understand this movie. Although, Portman's performance was almost worth the $13.50 ticket.
Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this movie, but now I'll actually recommend it. The character of Lou could be one of the funniest parts of modern day comedies. Rob Corddry nailed that role. If you can't make it to the theater then you definitely need to pickup the DVD when it comes out. This movie is destined to be played on TBS with all the other mediocre, yet sometimes humorous comedies they play around the clock.
First of all I am a huge Ben Stiller fan. I loved "The Squid and the Whale" and I'm think Harris Savides is one of the best cinematographers of our time. Not to mention that Jennifer Jason Leigh's previous writing credit just so happens to be one of my favorite films. So, this film has a very intelligent, unconventional script with quirky, eccentric yet very believable characters. Think of it as a modern day Woody Allen film when he was in his prime. If you appreciate fresh, intelligent, and witty storytelling then you must see this film. Otherwise go see some stupid 3D movie that has already grossed a billion dollars in the few minutes it has taken me to write this review.
I recommend seeing this in IMAX 3D only. I was very impressed with the visuals, but the story was typical Cameron/Hollywood bs. I'll probably never deliberately watch it again, but I'm glad i saw it in an IMAX 3D theatre.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Amazing film for a 1st time Director. Brilliantly acted and wonderfully shot. Collin Farrel is the only criticism that i can come up with. his performance was a little weak, maybe even mis-casted.
