While this is not a movie which is rich in its plot or dialog, it is a wonderful experience in 3D and on a large IMAX screen.
The special effects are truly wonderful and all but the most jaded will probably find it highly enjoyable.

Best movie that I have seen in a very long time. It has everything, romance, action, adventure, scifi. Good story line, evil versus good, boy meets girl....It was a tad bit long, but I did not move from my seat once, nor did anyone else in the theatre. Loved the movie.

This is the third time I've seen this movie. The first time was in IMAX, the second not, and the third in IMAX again. It is still amazingly mindblowing and unbelieveable. I love love love this movie. I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD and I hope they offer a 3D option with glasses. But if you're gonna see this movie I would highly recommend seeing in IMAX if it is an option. Watching it in 3D not IMAX was not as good graphically because half the movie wasn't in 3D. But I would recommend this movie for anyone but small children.

I've watched the "Avatar" at a regular movie theatre in 3D, then in IMAX 3D Exp.
3D experience (watch the verb, not 3D Exp.) was awesome, and the Pandora was actually there as an another world, not just an animation. The motion of the people (Na'vi) was so real (of course it is!), the feeling of those people and the environment were so real as well.
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be half a movie and half an animation, but after I watched the "Avatar," it's more than a movie.
I certainly recommend this movie to other people,and now I'm waiting for Blu-Ray + director's edition.
Thanks to James Cameron!! Let's go sequel "Avatar!"

This is the 3rd time I have watched this movie (at Hamilton AMC 24 actually haha), and I am still amazed. When this comes out on DVD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let it come with 3D glasses and a 3D option...I beg of you!!
NOTE: If you get easily motion sick, don't do 3D, it does leave you a little dizzy and a friend of mine got a little sick....(although she didn't care because it was still amazing)

While I'm sure this would have been amazing in a regular theater, The Avatar IMAX 3D Experience was absolutely mind blowing. This is easily the best EVER! Never before have 3D effects beef so good that I actually experienced a genuine fear of falling while sitting comfortably in a movie theater. This is not you average half a dozen cheesy props flying at you 3D. It is total immersion into the film. The depth preception is so realistic that the scenery literaly becomes another character in the film. Not since The Empire Strikes Back (when I was like 11 years old) have I left a theater with a rush of adrenaline like this! James Cameron and the folks at IMAX have set the new paradigm.
And I NEVER write reviews for ANYTHING!

I have seen the movie twice and twice enjoyed it, despite the length. The story line was great, and many people can should learn something from its theme. Both times that I saw the movie were in 3D, but once at the IMAX in Aventura... not a genuine IMAX theater. I suggest if you see this in IMAX, make sure you get the full experience.

When I initially saw the preview for this movie, I did not think I would like this movie. However, my husband wanted to see it, and some of my female friends told me how much they had enjoyed it, so we decided to go. It was an excellent movie! I loved the story line, the special effects, the feeling of being in the movie, and Sigourney Weaver did an excellent job. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the glasses irritated my ears somewhat because they were too heavy.

The visual effects were beautiful and there were some really interesting ideas in the movie. There is no doubt that it was a creative endeavor but the story was not only predictable but at times boring. It was too long and at times the acting was hard to tolerate. Although it may be tempting to take kids to this movie because of the beautiful images it would be very disturbing for young children ( okay for 11 and over if they have been exposed to war-type violence). It needs to be seen on the big screen because the story and acting won't hold your attention when it goes to DVD or television.

We went to see avatar in 3d at the imax. The movie was awful. The special effects, and 3d were incredible. However, the story line was cheesy, predictable, and filled with holes. You would think that in a 3 hour time period they could complete the story.....but no. Also, 3 out of 4 of us fell asleep.

This was one of the best movies I have ever seen! For the whole 2 + hours I was spellbound. I didn't even eat my candy because I was so wrapped in it. That has never happened to me before. Worth the money to see it at the IMAX and I might even see it again. The special effects did not detract from the movie, but clearly was an integral part of it. My only suggesstion is to bring lens wipes, the 3D glasses are smudged.

This film will take you away into a beautiful world with many gorgeous and terrifying things lurking about. The 3d effects are spectacular.
Go to this movie if you want a break from the ordinary. We were completely immersed in this film from start to finish. If you want to analyze and seek "hidden" meanings and wax political, stay home. If you want to be entertained and escape for a few hours, I highly recommend it.

The only reason this movie got a star was for the special effects and generally sharp graphics. All this movie can lay claim to is extending the genre of Star Wars movies. The story is pathetic and offensive to social and moral sensibilities - I am surprised nobody has raised this before. It justifiably dispensed with acting. Even technically, in IMAX 3D, you could tell where things were badly simulated. A review on the web lauded this movie's green and anti-war message and another rated James Cameron the king of Hollywood - PUH-LEAAAAAAAASE on both counts. The hype about this movie is like the housing bubble and the expert reviewers are like the bankers that caused the economic crisis.
