Exceeded expectations. A must see! The imaging is great and very capturing. At first I was afraid the 3D imaging would give me a headache but it didn't. I enjoyed the movie as though I was in it!

This was my third time seeing the movie. First time in "regular" mode. Second time in 3D. The IMAX experience was great. Love the movie. The more one watches the more details one can find. I can't wait to see it on DVD. Don't understand why so many are trying to politicize it. Its just GREAT fantasy.

You've never seen visuals like this before, definitely see it in the 3D theater. Other than that, the story is boring, predictable, and uninspired. You've seen it before: Evil-White-People are taking something unimportant to the story from Noble-Savages. Noble-Savages fight back with the help of White-Guy-Gone-Native. Therefore showing that Noble-Savages can't do things on their own, but need the help of White People. Throw in a predictable romance, between White-Guy-Gone-Native and Angry-Chick-Who-Hates-Him-At-First, and that's the movie. You've seen it. It'd be boring if it weren't beautiful to look at. So go spend your money on this intellectually bankrupt shiny object. Believe it or not it's worth it... once.

Great movie but skip the 3D IMAX experience. The glasses supplied are scratched and slighty warped, no doubt by being throw in a big trash can at the theater exit. I was constantly away that I was watching a movie.
This was very unlike the 2D version I saw a week before, the sharp, crisp foreground images had an amazing realism.
The 3D can work but not when looking through bad glasses.
I traveled 2 hours to Providence to see it. I won't again until I buy my own glasses.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great movie....unfortunately the directions on thier website were way off, therefor we were late to the show and had to sit in the very front row. (Those seats should be taken out, you can't even see the whole screen with the 3D glasses on.)

I felt pulled into the movie, instead of just sitting there with dumb glasses on. We are pushing 50 in age and I would have to say one of the better films we've seen and the best theater experience, watching this film in Imax is a must if available in your area.

James Cameron has done it again. What is it, only 6 movies this guy has ever made? Was it worth 300 million? I say YES, and more. Stunning in 3D IMAX, a technical achievement that reminds me of how Star Wars set a new standard back in 1977. Avatar has set the bar very, VERY high. And James, we MUST have a sequel SOON...we MUST.

This movie was outstanding. See it on the biggest IMAX screen possible - SF Sony Metron is likely bigger than AMC Emmeryville. If you know of a full wrap around screen find it and go. The better the theater the more complete visual experience. The story is great, the visual effects are nothing short of astounding. This is a film to see on the Big Screen. Go - now!

Visually, the most stunning experience I've ever had in 55 years.At times, actually felt like I was in the movie. The story line is timeless, and very moving, and a great insight to what this planet could be, should mankind stop being so selfish. Overall a great experience, and recommend it to all.

This is an amazingly colorful movie and the story was pretty darn good. The only part of the story that I would consider a drawback would be the typical over-zealous military nutjob commander and the typical lack-of-empathy site/company boss. Beyond that, this is definitely a Blu-Ray purchase for my collection. :D

I want to see at least it four more tmes. Avatar is my first experience with a 3D movie and I'm thrilled that I now have a local IMAX theater. In addition to the many powerful, thought provoking political statements, Avatar is the most visually, stunningly beautiful movie I've ever seen. The movie soundtrack is fabulous. Most of all, I fell in love with Pandora, the Na-Vi, and Jake Sully. Need I say more?

Loved this movie. Typically I sit through a movie and don't get to involved. This movie had me wrapped from the begining. I caught myself so involved I forgot I was in a theater. Loved IMAX and 3D made it so amazing. I can't wait to see it again. Wonderful movie just brilliant.

Positive: definitely worth seeing in 3D, and definitely worth seeing in IMAX. Visuals and sound were stunning.
Negative: found myself wanting the movie to end sooner than it did. I go to the movies for a good story, and this one has been told many times over. Also, the final battle felt a lot like Fern Gully on steroids, so that left me a bit saddened and disinterested.
All in all: a must-see for the dynamic way it was shot and presented (so you MUST go see in 3D, otherwise not worth it), but don't go in expecting anything amazing as far as story and acting are concerned....just my thoughts.

My wife loved it, I did not. My wife loved the action sequences and the 3D.
My opinions:
1. Disappointed in the IMAX -
a. The screen was smaller, less curved, and not as "inclusive" as the other IMAX theaters I've seen.
b. The schedule did not say it was 3D. Since I am blind in one eye, I cannot see 3D.Had I known it was 3D, I would have skipped the long line and seen the standard version.
2. The photography was very good, but the plot was mundane. It borrowed heavily from an old Kurt Russell movie "Soldier" with a similar "one soldier protecting a mass from a high-tech army" major theme plus others.

Wouldn't see it any other way - amazing! My husband even thought it was amazing and he didn't want to go in the first place! The 3D in the IMAX made a huge difference - made you feel like you were right there!

Wathcing this movie on 3D Imax was a fun
adventure. I absolutely loved Avatar as did my college age son. Only members of family that did not care for this movie were two 75 year olds. Movie was very artistic and I felt the makers of this movie spared no expense in the
visual arts. I plan to go see the movie in 3D again at Imax.

While the visuals on it were absolutely amazing, I HATED the plot. They could have turned it into such an uplifting, larger than life, inspirational message and they totally took the low road. Sad.

I would highly recommend this movie in 3D. the 3D experience has really improved and was worth the extra $. Although a common story line there were enough twists to keep it really interesting. Hope to see more 3D movies
