This was the first time in a long time that I have walked out of a theatre and thought that I got my money's worth from the ticket price. The 3D is the way to go to see this movie by far. The glasses take a moment to get used to but after you get drawn into the movie you will not even notice they are on your face, except for when you are swatting at the bugs that seem to be right in front of your face. Great movie and great overall experience.

The most relevant thing to tell you is that this movie is a boat-load of fun. Fantastic action, an unreal setting with incredible depth, a tight pace, and a complete feast for the eyes
The characters are likeable, and the love story is not belabored.
The forest is rich and exotic. One of my doubts since they started releasing stills was that planet Pandora didn't look all that different from Earthly forests. But when you get on the ground, when you see the colors in the corners and the wonders in the sky, it's a whole different story. One of the best cinematic alien planets ever.

The Imax Avatar boldly took 3D where it had never gone before. In your face, your gut and of course, your wallet! After the wild, blue ride, I felt green, as in seasick, nauseous and amazed. (I was not the one who lost my lunch on the way out, but close) My companion felt no ill effects but I had to go home and rest. No kidding. Nevertheless, as a "whole world" experience, I would boldly go back to Pandora the next time James Cameron opens the planet for business.

WOW! This movie is AMAZING. Great story, great acting, great visuals! I recommend seeing the 3D Imax version! I promise you, its worth it! Not only does it feel as if the world James Cameran created has come to life and you are walking along with the characters, but the details are much more pronounced! See this movie! Dont wait until it comes out on DvD and blueray. This movie was meant to be seen in 3D Imax!

In Avatar, James Cameron has created a mesmerizing world called Pandora populated with mighty animals, exotic bio-luminescent plants and humanoid creatures. The graphics and soundtrack are simply Epic, and the storyline is simple but has universal appeal. The direction is great, and you will be on the edge of your seat. It makes viewers emotionally invested with characters, and i was struggling to hold my tears at some point of the movie .. Whole theater was clapping by the time it ended. Truly a great cinematic experience !

If you see no other movie for the ART of it, let this be the one. Storyline aside, this movie rocks solid, and leaves anyone with a conscience speechless for moments after the credits roll. Too much war and pain for my tastebuds, but the beauty offsets the "reality" and then some. Go without expectation, with an open mind and be blown away.

This movies was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The 3-D is incredible. I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. Seeing it on the Imax screen made it seem like you were right there with the characters. A must see!

Although this is a superb movie experience, I felt that I was back in the 60's with those liberal or progressive directors who had fun making anti-war or anti-Vietnam involvement from the US. At a time of war, I am not so sure this is such a good message.

This is definitely a movie to see at IMAX. It was breathtaking and exciting. The war part of the plot was a bit formulaic and should have been fought with more surprise and clever inside tactics (e.g., computer virus in their system, spiritual hallucinations induced in enemy minds etc). These would have made it much more unique and exciting. But all in all it is a really fun film. Acting is very strong.

I went to this movie only because it seemed like it was going to become part of the culture. However, I was totally blown away with how captivating and tight the script was, with the technical execution that sets a new standard, and with the scenery on planet Pandora that was stunning. The 2 hours and 40 minutes flew by. It is one of the very few movies I would see a second time. I am sure there were an amazing number of details that I missed the first time through.

Watching this film on the IMAX screen, in 3D made this a very "big" movie. I think I will have to go see it a second time just to catch some of the little pieces I may have missed the first time around. The special effects were amazing and well worth the extra cost of the IMAX viewing.
While the special effects were awesome, it was basically a love story. Albeit a love story with really cool non-humans!

I thought Avatar was a cross between Star Wars and Dances With Wolves. The special effects were wonderful and viewing it 3D at IMAX was a nice experience. Overall I was disappointed because the message was nothing new, there was too much violence, which I don't support, and in my opinion it was more of the same, just in a different setting. I prefer more realistic movies and had I known it was like Star Wars with aliens, I would not have gone to see it.

This movie made me sad. I do not like the direction of ALL technically altered images. I actually preferred Terry Gilliam's movie [ the IMAGINARIUM...] It was not the typical Arnold movie-good guys, bad guys and lots of high action explosions. Yes, Avatar was exciting, but no substance, I have seen a million movies with the same story and ending. Ho-hum. They are all running happily to the bank, and it keeps the technical art dept employed for years. All those CREDITS!

The entire IMAX experience really comes to life with this film. The movie was good, however the entire package of IMAX, surround sound, 3D and visual effects made for the best movie experience I have ever witnessed. I actually left the theater a little sad to leave the magic of Pandora. I have already made plans to see this movie again before it leaves the theater!

This was a really great movie, and you have to see it in IMAX 3D to really experience all the movie has to offer. The story itself was pretty simplistic and predictable, with some of your stereotypical characters, but I think that the main characters and the cinematography makes up for it. You really get drawn into it, and WETA (I believe the same people who did the Lord of the Rings trilogy visuals) did a great job of making the world of Pandora come to life.
Overall, it's an interesting, engaging, and visually appealing new iteration of the old tale of profit-driven people destroying an indigenous population.

Although the basic plot is timeworn, it is delivered in a compelling way and wrapped in one of the most visually awesome experiences you will ever have.
This movie sets the bar for things to come. The scope of the visual effects combined with the driving sound and compelling story line make for a total package.
