It is a wonderful experience that shouldn't be missed, especially in 3D and in the IMAX theater. Almost three hours long but goes by quickly. A must see.

Not since seeing the Original Star Wars in 1978 has a movie ever been such an event for me. The story line has been used before as are many of the movies of today, yet the whole experience, from the 3D (not gimmicky) immersion, to the plot and whole concept, it is all wonderful. It will be a shame to have not seen this on the big screen, the small BD TV screen will not do the justice. Take your friends and go have a great time!

The story is simple, but theres sooo many details in the enviroment and the special effects are so crazy that it would be too much if the story was any more complicated. After seeing this movie, you are left with a feeling that you have actually been at Pandora.
It was my third time seeing it, and it just keeps getting better. I have seen it in 3D all three times, but only once in IMAX.. and it really made the whole experience of it much better.
Highly recommended!

The special effects were crazy awesome. And even though i heard the story wasnt very good, i disagree with that. I was thouroughly entertained and will see it again. Very cool! See it in 3-D if you can.

I don't know if it is the effects, the music, the drama, the action, the story, the emotions, or the 3D experience, but this movie is not a movie at all. From the moment you sit down and the show begins, a trip to the theatre becomes a dream-like immersion where you are no longer watching, but rather -experiencing- something life changing. Never have I left a theatre, feeling like I hadn't left a theatre, but more like I had left another world. One in which you want to return. I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX to get the full experience, the sound system really makes the difference. Don't miss out seeing it in theatres, i have a feeling the same effect will not be the same at home. Enjoy.

Pros:
Best 3d film i have ever been to. Everything looked in focus and any effects that were obviously 3d were not over done (like objects flying at your face just to make you fall back in your chair).
The character development of the Navi was done well. I felt more connected to them than i did the humans. which strangely made me feel quite conflicted after the movie was over.
Cons:
The "save the planet" theme was laid on way too thick and the mining corporation people seemed very 1 dimentional in their manic quest to collect the unobtanium.

This movie has had a a lot of press, lots of reviews, there's lots of talk about its quality but hearing about the storyline left me wondering if it's all true... Is this the greatest film of the year or is it all hype? Without a doubt I would have to say that it is not hype, the rumors are true, this is a truly fantastic movie!

Wow! A month after it's release and it was sold out on Sunday night...Good thing I bought tickets at Movietickets.com. Seats were near full 30 minutes before the show.
Must see in the theater on the big IMax screen...well worth the three hours. Seemed like 2 hours at the most.
What an adventure...what an imaginative world!

If you don't like the way it looks or feels your disappointment in the revolution at hand is complete. With the 3D, the animation, the story line, effects and yes, even the acting, this movie is a total package experience. I highly recommend it to everyone. There isn't anything this movie doesn't have to offer. I saw it on IMAX in 3D and the effects were completely awesome. Yes, I had to stop myself from waving things away from my face because they WERE IN THE MOVIE!!!

Watched avatar 3D and in on an IMAX screen. it was so beautifully done! the colors were amazing and although i had to sit on the front row bc the movie was sold out, i still appreciated every moment. the story line was great but the colors were amazing!

The Life you believe in, so much grown in this movie you believe in something, I call that Brilliant Directing the Story its Imagination, was very truthful like. Not having experienced a 3D movie in a theatre before, I had high hopes for "Avatar". This was a great example of what moviemaking is all about. Nearly every frame is a grand painting. James Cameron and everyone that worked on this film is to be commended for expanding the way we will enjoy films from now on.
Having said that, I don't think I would have enjoyed the film as much without all of the bells and whistles the 3D experience provided. There were parts of the story that seemed too convenient or oversimplified, and I didn't fall in love with the characters. I don't think this is a movie I will purchase for home viewing, or watch again. But, it was definitely worth the money and time for one viewing!

Based on all the reviews, my husband and I dragged ourselves out of the house to go see the Imax 3D version. This was such a visually stunning and a sensory affecting story! I have never seen such a wonderful movie. Even being pregnant I was able to sit through the whole movie totally captivated by the story line not noticing how long it was. I am SO glad we saw it, every dollar and every minute of it was such a great experience!

This movie breaks boundaries. The 3D effects are the greatest thing since technicolor. I wanted to reach out and touch objects. It will make people get out from in front of their LCD and go to the theatre. I was amazed. Definitely go see it on IMAX 3D. Stunning visuals and sound as well as good story and characters. I would like to see more movies like this one.

Avatar was an awesome experience! The story capitavated me from the beginning to the end, and although it was 2 hours and 40 minutes long, I wanted it to be longer! Avatar personifies the sensitivity of the earth and all beings living here. I will definitely see this movie again and buy it the first chance I get. It is for all ages - my 7 year old grandson did not take his eyes off of it. It was amazing.

This movie is wonderful; the story, the characters, the acting and visually its ground breaking. I have watched this movie twice in Imax 3d with friends and my parents and everyone was amazed and loved the story. People who are writing bad reviews and how this movie is racist are a bunch of idiots. Stop trying to be different just to be different and admit you love this movie like everybody else. Because it is an awesome movie all the way around.

I was expecting good and instead I got the entire Universe. This movie went beyond by the power ten. If you're looking for a Star Trek or Star Wars type movie you won't find it here. Avatar rewrites the rules for Sci-Fi.
The CG was flawless ( as far as I could tell ) as well as drop-dead gorgeous. I saw it in IMAX 3D. This should be the only way to view it. James Cameron has found his medium here.
People who write Avatar off as a glitzy Cameron extravaganza did not SEE the movie. This was pure escapism at it's very best. If you don't believe me try it on for yourself and you'll see that you'll walk away much light than when you arrived.

I loved this movie and found it very moving and thought-provoking. The special effects were amazing; the action riveting. Would recommend it to anyone over 12-13 years old. You don't have to be a fan of sci-fi to enjoy it.
Having said all that, the story itself is fairly formulaic. Without the fabulous graphics, it wouldn't be all that great. But, believe me, you won't care; even if you step back and see the plot line for what it is, you'll still be riveted by the whole experience.
Worth every dime!
