My family and I loved it. The special effects were phenmonal. I would definently buy it when it comes out on DVD. IMAX 3-D is the best way to see this kind of movie. If you don't see it you better buy it. It IS worth the money.

I saw Avatar in 3D on a regular screen. I was blown away by the beautiful landscapes and foliage shots. The set design was incredible and so was the wildlife. The plot wasn't anything groundbreaking and the foleys could have done a bit more to make the animal calls and sounds a bit more alien but that's a minor point. I loved this movie so much I saw it again in IMAX two days later.

I haven't attempted a 3D movie in over 20 years. I am soooo glad I broke my streak with Avatar in IMAX 3D--I can't imagine seeing it, or any future action/sci-fi movie any other way. I became part of Pandora (their world) and find myself wanting to "go back" there to that place. Go see this movie (yes, ladies, there is a love story in there for you too, even if not fully developed).

If you're even considering seeing this movie in any other format than IMAX, save your money and three hours of your life. You've seen this movie already. The first hour is Pocahontas, second hour is Lord Of The Rings, and third hour is Return Of The Jedi. The story is predictable - you'll be miles ahead of the characters. The one thing that makes this a must-see is the world Cameron has created. INCREDIBLE visual effects . . .but again, you must see it in IMAX. If you can't, you may as well wait for the DVD.

From a physics perspective the technology and physiology of the characters seemed accurate making the movie very cool and a must see. From a political science perspective, the movie demonizes a military funded by an equally evil capitalist corporation seeking energy. The underdogs, "The People" (Communist under tones), who worship their earth are the good guys. They were even called the contemporary term, "tree huggers" a couple of times. I get tired of the Communist/Progressive undertones strategically placed by Hollywood in contemporary media. One of the evil military people transforms in several ways into one of the people after he is essentially re-educated proving that you too can become enlightened and "save the planet".

If you're at all curious about this movie, go see it. A great, moving, and generally well conceived scifi movie. Visually beautiful and stunning, the film puts you inside another world. You do forget about the 3D as you're drawn into the story and its fantastically imagined world. The drama and action carry each other well despite the ultimately cliche storyline. Way fun and breathtaking; it's few flaws are completely overwhelmed by magnificent movie making and story telling. Touches on everything from corporate totalitarianism, militarism, genetic medicine for disabilities, global warming and ecology to Gaia, neural networks, Native Americans and allusions to George Bush. Not to be missed by anyone interested in the art of film.

From the very first scene of this movie I knew it would be unlike any other movie I had seen. I won't spoil the movie but this was easily the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. The fact that I saw it in IMAX 3D also played a huge role in my viewing experience. I think it would have still been a feast for the eyes but probably not as much. The storyline itself is very familiar one for anyone who has been to the movies in the last 40 years or so, but the visuals and acting completely make up for it. I highly recommend seeing this movie to anyone.

This is a "must see" film for all that want to experience the splendor and immersion of 3D movie-making. A technological break through by any measure. The only drawbacks are the use of a well-worn narrative and bad character dialog (an unfortunate Cameron weakness). But definitely go see it!!

I had never seen an IMAX 3D movie, but this was amazing. I was a liitle worried, becasue they had hyped this movie up so much that I felt there was no way it could live up to it; but boy was I wrong. In addition to the mindblowing special effects, the storyline also held its own and made the three hours go by really fast. I would definitely see this movie again and reccomend it to all of my friends.

Movie - Excellent movie! I would easily go see it again. I am all about the sci-fy movies with aliens & future technology so this was right up my alley, but even my fiance was really into the entire story line who doesn't dig many aliens.
Movie Tickets - I was VERY upset with my ticket purchase from this website. I purchased tickets for a 5:30 IMAX 3D show and by pure luck checked to see the time; only to find out the show was canceled & I was out 3 tickets & money! After dealing with a very rude & incompetent customer service I will never use this service again. No notification or resolution was even attempted. It was made clear I was the ignorant one & was at fault. Unacceptable. Be careful of the bait & switch.

The plot was pretty standard as these types of movies go. It was exciting with a lot of action, but nothing much deeper. What makes this movie stand far above the crowd was the world that JC created. The visuals were amazing. I hope that this place will be revisited many more times in the future. I'm sure there are more stories to be told.

This is by far one of the best movies I've ever watched. I watched it yesterday (in Imax 3D), and I feel like I'm still inside that world.
I realize it won't be the same when I watch it at home later, but I'm already counting the days until it comes out on Bluray.

THis is one of the best movies of the year. Even though the story was relatively simple with a ex-marine sent on recon mission who defects to the other side. The execution of this movie was fantastic. I was amazed with the creative effort put into creating the fictional world Pandora. The story and the emotions were executed well too. The visuals are stunning. They remind me of the lush forest and jungles in the Myst/Riven game universe, but taken to the next level. The CG is very realistic, and the 3D effect just adds to the experience, and doesn't distract from it. The story line is fairly predictable, but it is fun watching it play out.

No joke. This film is a work of genius in every facet of its production. Despite some swearing and violence some children under 13 could probably handle this movie and would love it. 3D is totally engrossing as long as there are no chairs in your line of sight. I would say it is nothing less than "outstanding".
Now let me tell you about the Imax at the Palladium in San Antonio! Its the SMALLEST Imax I have EVER seen! Even worse there is RESERVED SEATING, which I have also never heard of at an Imax. General Admission is so close to the screen that several people complained and left to see the regular version.

I expected great effects with a so-so plot and cheesy dialogue. Instead, I was blown away by one of the most incredible movie experiences I have ever had. The 3D integration is rich and immerses you completely. The IMAX screen and massive sound enhances this nicely. The planet's vegetation, landscapes, creatures and natives are all unique works by master artists. The story was moving, realistic, and never broke its grip. While there are no crazy twists or groundbreaking plots, the overall flow is perfect. After 2 hours and 40 minutes, I could only think of two things: When I would see this again, and they better hurry on the sequel!

This movie, especially with the graphics and effects of the IMAX 3D, is a completely immersive experience. You feel as if you are alongside with the camera. I don't heartily support the rather obvious comparison to the American treatment of the Native American Indians during our country's founding, however, that will not keep if from being my near favorite of all time movie - right alongside the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Go see it! I will be seeing it at least once more in the IMAX before I get my own copy for home. (been wondering what could justify getting a 3D capable home theater - this could be it!)
