This was simply an amazing movie. Visually stunning for the entire movie. I went in expecting strictly a special effects movie, however I was wrong, this movie has a great story, and that is enhanced by the special effects. James Cameron truly has created a master piece of cinema!
I would recomend this movie to anyone looking for a great movie to go see, in fact it's a must see in the theatre. If you have a theatre near you showing it in IMAX 3D I would highly recommend it for that. It truly does IMAX justice.

Absolutely incredible! The live footage is seamless with the computer generated footage. The sound track was incredible and the visual beauty of the movie was stunning. Ignore the cliche's of the story line. It was compelling and wrapped me up in the drama of it all. The movie has something for everyone; military type war, cowboys and indians, corporate greed, and romance. It was incredible. Don't wait for home video on this one. The 3d isn't gimmicky. It's used to immerse you in the beauty of the planet. It's just amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm returning to see this at least a second time and maybe a third, time permitting.

Many reviews have attacked the story, so that is where I will start. Avatar's story is incredible. While it is similar to Pocahontas and or dancing with wolves, it is original in its own way. There is so much depth, from language to culture. All of which is truly original. I was immersed, and felt as if I was learning about a real alien culture.
Others have attacked the films length. I enjoyed every minute. I never once looked at my watch.
Everyone can agree on the visuals. They were outstanding and truly Next Gen. The 3d was done perfectly. No corny objects flying at your face every 30 seconds just because it's 3D. The 3D was used in a way that truly added depth and took you into the world that is Pandora.

I thought as far as the 3D effects and the digital creations the film was AWESOME! It is 2:40 minutes long and did have me looking at my watch a few times. My sons really enjoyed it. The theatre was packed to the hilt so you want to get there early. We arrived 1 hour early but by 45 minutes till the seats were all full. A BEAUTIFUL FILM! I would not recommend this one to anyone who wasnt going to the imax 3d.

Avatar grabs you from the opening scene and doesn't let go. With the 3D IMAX experience, the visuals and details were stunning, the story captivating and you'll hold your breath rooting for the characters. A movie you and your familiy will want to see more than once.

Great story line. Predictable but thoroughly enjoyable! Kind of "Dances with Wolves" meets Alien. Must see it at IMAX 3D theatre to really get the full effect.
The effects were "out of this world"! Truly amazing!!

This was my first IMax experience and I have to say from the start of the previews until the movie was finished I had the smile like that of a 6 year old kid on Christmas getting everything he wished for. It was amazing and I have already told a vast majority of my friends about it. cant wait for Alice and Wonderland!!!

I couldn't stop talking about seeing Avatar 3D in IMAX! This movie was certainly made for the big screen. Of course, it goes on about 40 minutes too long, but you have to just sit back & enjoy this creative ride! Visually stunning - it's what blockbuster movies & budgets are all about! Definitely an experience! See it in IMAX 3D, if you can.

Saw this movie in a scaled down AMC Imax in 3D and it was absolutely stunning. The visuals are beyond any movie to date. The story had some issues where it seems the director ran out of time and starting cutting the movie, but overall still flowed well. I can see this coming out on DVD as a 6 hour edition, though the 2 hours 40 minutes in a theater with 3D glasses on was plenty enough for me. Still hands down one of the best movies of the year. Do youself a favor and go see it in 3D (Imax if you can).

I know the Golden Globes didn't see it early enough to consider it for more prizes but Jim Cameron a just created a quantum leap in movie making. I thought the Dark Night was a marvel but this just one upped that. Visually it truely defines what is considered escapism fanfare. I actually thought I was somewhere else watching it. Story wise yeah yeah it been told before but never like this. I am completely drawn in by the character perormances cgi or not! If this is the future of Film I don't see the film Industry dying out anytime soon!

The movie combines the best features of prior movies. You'll see the Matrix robots, Dances with Wolves soldier turned Indian, Fern Gully's beauty, just to name a few. Its all done intelligently and the ending is a plus. It may not be as complex as some may want, but it doesnt matter. The basic concepts are good.

While the bad guys are a bit one-dimensional, that is more than made up for by the deeper development of the characters of the good guys. More importantly, I have not been in a theater that had so much audience reaction and emotional involvement since the original Star Wars in 1977. Also, for those folks that don't like SciFic - this is way beyond SciFi - this is fantasy, mysticism and blast you out of your seats visuals. My first thought for a clear Oscar for this picture was not special effects (although it should get that one too) - it is art direction. The sheer volume of incredible images, the number of creatures and their complexity, is incredible. I was blown away.

AVATAR is an experience to be seen on the IMAX screen. The computer animation/graphics are truly to beheld. I was blown away by the detail and how the whole IMAX experience just PULLS you into the movie. This is a must see.

I had heard good reviews about this movie, so I went to see it. I was so immersed in the visual aspects of this film, I forgot the plot was a little predictable. The CG in this movie is incredible. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and was stunned. Incredible movie to watch on the big screen.

Beautiful. Astonishing. Hypnotizing. Smart. Breathtaking. Spectacular. Stunning. Epic.
These are just a handful of words one could use to describe James Cameron's science fiction magnum opus, the long-awaited and critically acclaimed, Avatar. Without a doubt in my mind, every one of the words I listed is accurate to a fault, with the only downside being that when I walked out of the film, I couldn't even put it in to those words. I was essentially speechless. In fact, I made an ill-fated attempt to watch a second movie later at home, but could not concentrate on it at all, due to the fact that my mind was still back on Pandora... the beautiful Earth-like planet on which this film takes place. 10/10

WOW!! Really stunning movie. The colors,3D and visual effects were awesome. This movie plays 2 hrs 40 min but does not drag on & on. This movie needs to be seen in IMAX 3D for full effect so find an Imax theatre and go. Highly recommend it to all.

Simply put -- wow. Wow wow wow. I loved the movie -- I was totally sucked in and loved the way it played out. I love the parallel with today and our own pursuits of technology and the balance of mother nature, the animals, etc.
I didn't even really realize how we had the goggles on -- it was just brilliant. I also loved how the movie started with a BANG right away...I will definitely be seeing it again soon!

I didn't want this movie to end. I wanted to be a part of this world. James Cameron created a world like no other. I have never felt this way after watching a movie. The love story, the action and the visually stimulating scenery kept me wanting so much more.

Awesome! a visual feast... but the screenplay is a mix of cliches and a bit predictable.. The adrenaline level is high throughout the movie. A must see still for the visual effects... And I think 2D is better than 3D!

I went 40 miles through the blizzard on Saturday to see it and I'm happy I did. A must see, preferably in 3D. Even wife loved it!
The story was a little predictable, but I'm sure most people will love it. And the graphics, oh, the graphics. Definitely worth the money.

Avatar in 3D was like nothing I've seen before. The visuals were absolutely STUNNING! The Na'vi culture and their world was created so thoroughly - the level of thought and artistic detail is incredible. The plot was well developed; the pace was well balanced between intense action scenes, humor and drama. The cast was perfect, and the final battle was nothing short of epic. I HIGHLY recommend seeing this in 3D to get the full experience!
