I knew months ago that I wanted to see this movie from the previews I saw before watching another movie, but when I found out it was in IMAX 3D that sealed the deal for me. I think this movie will change the way moviegoers will want to see films going forward.

The plot was nothing special....you know it from the commercial advertisements. The 3D and the way the movie looked were pretty amazing though and I would recommend everyone to go see it for that part of the movie.

This movie is visually stunning and truly a sign of things to come for future movies. You need to see this movie on the big screen and in IMAX to take it all in. The 3D elements add to the movie and aren't too distracting, except for a couple "forced" scenes. The story is fairly easy and I found myself thinking that this is a "Dances with Wolves" in space, but overall it flowed and was enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone.

The IMAX 3D was awesome. Amazing graphics, special effects - you really do feel like you are part of the movie! The best I've ever experienced in that regard.
The only disappointing aspect of the movie is that the story line is somewhat predictable - and the not-so-subtle political propoganda is extremely annoying. (humans killed their own earth, etc)
Surprisingly, Sigourney Weaver's acting is awful.
Otherwise - highly recommended.

You must see this one in IMAX 3D! The movie was visually amazing. A number of images in the movie reminded me of Cameron's other movies which I can describe without giving something away. The plot at its core is one we've seen before: evil group tries to take over another group's land by planting a mole among them. But mole starts to identify with the oppressed group and rallys them to fight back.
Classic story paired with cutting edge special effects. Good scifi!

Unlike anything I've ever seen before. Absolutely spellbinding and absorbing from start to finish. Special effects will take your breath away. Long on special effects, a little light on plot and background. Not that there wasn't enough of the latter two, maybe too much. And a tad bit hard to follow, especially the first half hour.
ALso, the local IMAX was somewhat disingenious with its online ticketing, failing to explain that the good seats were "Reserved" (and who knows how much more expensive).

The 3D effects were truly realistic. The storyline is strong. Humans are heading in the same direction in reality as what they show in the movie. Polar ice melting. Amazon rainforests depleting. Carbon stored for thousands of years as fossils burnt and released into the atmosphere. Population explosion. Factory farming of Animals. Inhuman meat industry.
Humans are real losers. To summarize, the line from the movie 'Humans have killed their Mother (earth/nature)' is so true.

Pay the extra dollars to watch it in 3D IMAX!!! You will not be disappointed. This movie takes the place (temporarily) of my all time fave, which is the L.O.T.R.'s Trilogy. And that's a hard one to beat! The Visual aspect of this flick is ridiculously real. There were many scenes where it felt I was in it. Looks like it would if you were right there! I promise you'll miss out if you don't watch it in 3d IMAX! Enjoy!

I really did not want to spend almost 3 hours wearing plastic glasses in a full movie theater. But from the first movie preview I was amazed. The IMAX 3D experiance is purely thrilling. I felt like I was part of the story, I was living it with them. You have never seen a movie like it. The use of colors and the effects are far beyond anything I have experianced thus far. The kids, mom, dad, and grandma absolutely loved this movie and the whole experiance of it. We got ther 1 hour early and the theater was over half full. Although the experiance will never be the same as the first time, this is a movie that I will buy to keep forever, right next to Titanic.

Having just seen Avatar in IMAX 3-D, I can easily say that this is the most visually-stunning film ever created. It's worth traveling and spending a bit more to see it in the IMAX format if that's possible. Although the acting by the key characters is superb, I felt that the roles played by the recognizable actors were pretty stereotyped and their behavior and dialog very predictable. The story itself could have been more complex and thought-provoking. Over-all the film could use some editing, especially the combat and destruction scenes. All criticism aside, it's a true achievement in cinema, but it is not a film that I would personally want to see more than once or to see again on DVD.

Totally awesome, I went to see it in 3D then again in Imax 3D. Imax is the best way to see this film. Outstanding special effects, and performances. A definite must see.
It is a bit predictable but that is fine, some say it is a bit preachy towards the end but I don't agree. It is the greatest movie of the the year, and deserves an award for the way it packages and delivers its message. Well done Mr. Cameron!!!!

I saw it @ Tomball TX 3DIMAX , the CG world they built was amazoning, I would see the movie just for that. The movie itself, is a typ. James Cameron movie. The movie starts out slow, than about halfway through it get real good ex:(abyss, titanic, true lies & rambo) all started slow. All the pre-movie hype sets the bar too high. Overall great movie, you must see it yourself.
