I went in expecting to enjoy Avatar. But I walked out in awe of the story, the cinematography, and just about everything James Cameron.
There's definitely no better director to cause me to spring for the more expensive IMAX tickets. And am I glad I did!
I don't know what else to say besides this movie has something for everyone - a little sci fi, a little fantasy, a little romance, a LOT of action, and a lot of a good story.
I want to see this movie about a 100 more times.

This movie is so spectacular. The colors are so vivbrant, intense and viavasious. Such a great storyline that it makes you wish these beings are true and alive today.
This is by far the best movie I have ever seen in my life. I would watch this movie over and over again.
If you like fiction, but like a story that could be a true to life expereince, this is your kind of movie.

I went to see it as a tech freak and was not disappointed. The special effects were excellent. The story plot was a little over the top with the military commander ( shades of Toy Soldier) and story reminded me of the Fern Gully (animated) only in a land far-far-away. I did find it entertaining though and found the ending resolved very much to my satisfaction. Overall gentlemen great job, thank you for an enjoyable evening that was well worh the money.

This movie should and will be a hit. Action pack all the way... and 3D. The intensity of the color is fantanstic. The only thing that I've problem with are those 3D glasses. They're uncomfortable to wear and they should update the glasses for the future.

Avatar was a great movie, but the 3D made everything look blurry and out-of-focus. This made it difficult to see the finer details of James Cameron's incredible CGI. Furthermore, whenever there was rapid movement onscreen (such as during the final battle) all I could make out were a bunch of colorful, fast-moving blobs. Personally, I'm planning on seeing Avatar again in 2D so I can truly enjoy it. I can't recommend watching it in 3D.

Yes, it's a love story. Yes, it's a story about conserving the environment. Yes, it is the most visually stunning epic made to date and makes you yearn for the continuation of the story. James Cameron and crew have definitely pushed the realm of Cinematography to the stratosphere and I can not wait to see the future. Hopefully, there will be a movement to produce quality pieces such as Avatar...the proof is in the pudding...in the vein of Field of Dreams, if you create it...they will come. The Imax 3D experience with this film is worth it. Not going to the best experience possible would be like getting invited to dinner cooked by Julia Child and only eating a salad because you are on a diet.

This was the sikkest shi* i've seen in a good minute! Avatar was such a good movie, I didn't even realize how good it was until the next morning when I woke up. As bizarre and crazy as the movie was, it takes you out of the real world for 3 hours and puts you in a cinematic experience that you don't expect to get! I would highly recommend this movie, or any imax 3D movie to anyone...the extra 3 bucks or whatever it is to see the imax experience is def. worth it, I mean look at how expensive the movies already are...whats 3 more bucks(:

It was the first time that I've seen an IMAX 3D movie and it was perfect to have watched such an Epic movie. Avatar has been by far the best movie I've seen since Lord of the Rings. It's a must see movie with a combination of Drama, Love, Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi, and Horror. It was a very well written and orchestrated movie. My girlfriend cried 3 times during the movie and you must see why. It's everything you can ask for in a movie. Worth the 2 hrs and 40 min.!!! I can't wait to purchase the Blu-ray 3D version when it's released. It's a phenomenal movie so go out and watch it especially on IMAX 3D!!!

Plot is simple. You'll guess what is going to happen with every word spoken in the movie. But that doesn't matter. Object of this film is not to think. Just take it all in. Experience the beauty of the design. Every blade of grass seems thought out. If you do the IMAX 3D version with a rumbling sound system, the immersion level created is incredible. It's great to see quality Sci-Fi made like this with such attention to detail. If you want plot, or less of a political agenda (the over used Corporations and Military = Bad; Scientists and Environmentalists = Good), then this is not your movie. If you want to let yourself go and experience a new world that looks VERY real, then THIS is your movie.

With a plot that seems to borrow from westerns such as "Broken Arrow," "Cheyenne Autumn", and "Dances with Wolves," "Avatar" creates a visual world unlike any that you have ever seen; Cameron uses 3D and IMAX to visualize a world so stunning that the viewer forgives whatever script problems the movie may have. But the film needs to be seen in IMAX and 3D in order to appreciate Cameron's achievement -- the movie is visually sumptuous.

I really enjoyed this movie from start to finish! The beginning is a little slow, as it probably should be, but aptly builds quickly into a masterpiece of adventure..
Whenever a movie gets huge in 5 stars, I list the reviews from the teeny 1 stars and brace for comedy. I just can't help it.. :) Some people are just 2 funny... There's always a few people that just get toooo serious. 'Avatar' is a beautiful artistic blend of 3d special effects, magical moments, and passionate creativity, and a well thought out plot to weave it all together. It has 'some' predictability, but if u allow yourself to be taken in by it all, u won't be looking at ur watch, or thinking about the things u can predict!

My husband and I saw this in IMAX, and it was phenomenal. The plot, action, graphics, stunning imagery was all better than I could have hoped for. Almost 3 hours long, but felt like it was over in just over an hour, it was so enthralling.

Technically beyond anything so far, this convinced me I would see every movie in 3d if made this well. It puts recent blockbusters to shame. The story is moving, and told at a cracking pace, the action is clear and heartstoppingly exciting. It's hard to believe the majority of the movie is pure CG... When did FX get so convincing? And why has no other filmmaker shown us that? The film is strong enough to throw down its awesomeness just as a regular 2d movie and on TV, but see it in 3D in the theatres, it's an immersive spectacle that cant be repeated at home. Unless you have an imax or full size 3d cinema at home i guess...
