I am not a fan of animated movies at all but there is something different about this one. The animation is so good you forget it's imaginary. I felt like I was literally there on another planet and watching this story unfold. It was visually amazing and the story and characters were well developed and compelling. I reminded me of how I used to feel about the Star Wars movies when I was a kid before the prequels came out. All I can say is go see it and see it in 3D.

Wow, A total visual experience seeing this movie on IMAX 3D. I was totally immersed in the movie from the first minute to the somewhat predictable end (that's a plot comment not a reason to not see the movie). Definitely on my top 10 movies of 2009 (as it was for the Wall Street Journal and this movie just came out).
Extraordinary tale - excellent performances (you really cannot tell where the real actors begin/end and the computer generated ones begin/end).
Five stars and I intend to see it in 3D and non-3D just to compare what I didn't catch the first time as I was drinking in the beauty of this movie.

I normally dont do reviews, but this movie was stellar. It had gripping cinematography and great action. The only way to see this film is on the IMAX screen in 3D. it was a little long but it was captivating so I did'nt notice how long it was. It just reminded me of the strife that the Native Americans went through when they lived in a place where it was decided that the value of the resources around outweighed the value of their needs & right to live a peacefull undisturbed existence.

This is a great show ...even better in IMAX 3D. You will be amazed! I could have done without so much likeness to "native american" culture type things. (nothing against it, but wrong place for it) A little would have been alright but there was quit a bit of it... even the avatar language sounded like some obscure apache/navaho dialect. A MUST SEE IN 3D!!!

The best money on a movie in my life! I would only recommend seeing this in IMAX 3D! It was flawless and very inspiring in so many ways. This should win a boatload of Oscar's, but knowing Hollywood, they favor non-commercial types. The technology is so far ahead of its time. Truly stunning - go see it!!!

I heard all the hype about this movie, and it lived up to it. The world created by the movie makers was totally believable. You will forget the "performance capture" technique used to make the movie and find yourself in an alien world with the stunning 3-D images. Some have panned this movie for its plot, but I loved every aspect, including the story line.

This one will be hard to top for a number of reasons including; a well thought out use of 3D as a storytelling medium; for its groundbreaking effects - which for me - looked real; the fact that it hits you emotionally at times - You name it!
In Imax 3D, the experinece of seeing Pandora is almost like being there. For those interested, the digital 3D version of the film is in 'Scope ratio, in Imax 3D more like traditional 1:85 - both work. See it!

This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. James Cameron has truly raised the bar in movie making. The 3-D was so tastefully done that I and the audience were pulled into the world he created. 2 hrs. 40 minutes later and I was still wanting more. I'm reccomending this movie to everyone I do and don't know. Finally, a movie worthy of all the hype.

Brilliant movie with it being in 3D everything just looks so real and you can't even tell the effects at all. It's amazing the first time I've seen special f/x characters look so human and complex right beside the real thing. You can tell Cameron worked hard on this because you can't tell where the f/x start or end its beautiful. Already seen it twice and will be seeing it again can't wait for the blu-ray!!

After waiting a couple days for the big snowstorm in DC to subside, I was able to take my wife to see Avatar today (Monday)
It was great to go to a movie that had superb special effects, 3-D definition and a story line that was very relevant. The movie showed that we can't always take what we want. There are always negative repercussions for bad decisions.
My only regret is that I didn't watch Avatar in IMAX 3-D. Maybe I'll get my wife to take me to see it on the IMAX screen.

I walked out of this movie feeling as if I were soaring, both physically and emotionally. What a feast for the eyes. What a stroke to all the senses. I really can't wait to see this movie again! And, I'll willing pay the price to see it in IMAX 3D again, as I don't think I've EVER spent my money more wisely at the movies. There are certain things occuring in the movie that can only be appreciated in 3D. The soaring through the skies, the journey through the forests, the village within the great tree, the Hallelujah Mountains (floating), even the lab, are just a few of the things that are mind-boggling when seen in 3D. Trust me, everyone. It's worth paying the money. This movies casts a wicked spell!

Visually Stunning really doesn't do it justice. The truth is there is nothing to compare this movie to. This movie is worth the price, even though the storyline is nothing you haven't see before and it gets quite preachy at the end.
This movie makes you want to escape into the screen and be a part of this incredible panorama. Must see in IMAX 3D.

I was blown away. This has got to the be the most exciting movie I've ever seen. I don't recall a single moment of boredom and the effects were so realistic that I kept expecting the blue makeup to wash off the Na'vi's during the water scenes. A must see movie

This was by far the best movie i have ever seen
it draws you in with its story line and makes you
wish it was a real place you could go.You have to experience it in imax 3d to get the full effect
any other way would'nt do the movie justice.

Avatar is no doubt the best movie I have EVER seen! I saw it in IMAX 3D, and highly recommend it over the other formats. I definitely had a blue face by the time it was over! Humanity can definitely learn from this story! The special effects and animation are fantastic!

With all the hype, I wasn't sure what to think going in to the movie. What I got was an extraordinary experience.
On the surface this is a sci-fi, noble savage gets beat up and fights back movie. But when you put together good (not great) story & acting with the great visuals you get something amazing. The 3D IMAX is THE format for this movie. The effects were of such high quality that you couldn't tell it wasn't real.
The sound was extraordinary, & the IMAX theater made the experience all I could have asked for. James Horner creates a truly inspired musical score that blends Braveheart & Titanic with a tribal air.
I give Avatar a solid 9/10 because everything just comes together so well.

It would have been worth the price just for the eye candy of the world created for the film. But, there is a great deal of substance in the research underlying the film. I was equally amazed at how immersive 3D made the film. This is the first of the new "3D" films that I've seen. I'm glad it was. It is clear why this film has already earned a golden globe nomination. It is the best film I've seen this year.
