I heard all the hype about this movie, and it lived up to it. The world created by the movie makers was totally believable. You will forget the "performance capture" technique used to make the movie and find yourself in an alien world with the stunning 3-D images. Some have panned this movie for its plot, but I loved every aspect, including the story line.
While I usually shy away from movies having anything to do with sports, this movie is very good, and the sports theme is not a turn-off. I have to admit shedding a few tears during this movie, not because it is sad, but because of the human emotion shown towards a young, poor, black man, who strives to do better, despite the odds. I liked this movie very much.
Having been a "Trekie" for some time, I had high hopes for this latest Star Trek movie, and my hope were fullfilled. This movie was fun right from the start. I loved how they introduced each character. The effects are mind-boggling. My wife and son (16) enjoyed it too.
The opening sequence is great. There are bombs going off, planes flying in the air, and lots of fire. From there on out, it tends to drag on and on. Tom Cruise is good at his role, but they seemed to skimp on the action scenes. There's much talk about what's going on at the front lines, but we don't see that....we just see office scenes that are cheap to shoot. I wish i'd skipped this one.
