Avatar is visually the most amazing thing i have ever seen in my life. the wilderness james cameron creates for pandora is like nothing ever created for a movie before this. the great thing about this movie is that it is NOT just a graphics show. Avatar has a great storyline and is hugely entertaining to watch. The best movie i have seen in a very long time.

Even though this movie is close to three hours, it was very well paced, so it didn't feel long at all. Yeah, the storyline can be paralled to "Dances with Wolves" and "The Last Samuri", but I still thought this movie was very good. I liked the main characters and the special effects were amazing.

I saw this on IMAX in 3-D, and it was very much like a 2 1/2 hr ride @ Disney. This was not like going to the movies, was very much an experience. They really pulled off the other wordly like no one has before. That being said, it was full of cliches and stereotypes that ruined what could have been a complete package. To make direct reference to the Iraq war twice (as if that would be the pinnacle war reference in the future) the Green is good junk and the natives depicted as Indian/African hippies that could only be saved by a white man, give me a break. Still, an experience for the theater like I've never seen.

When I first heard about the movie months ago, I thought it was a cartoon. Recently, I had heard that it was a "must see" and was quite an experience. Had to see what all the hype was about. We reserved tickets 6 hours before the show and arrived an hour early. Couldn't believe the people who were already in line. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story was great, but the IMAX 3-D made it feel as if you were there. While it lasted almost 3 hours, the movie did not drag on. I felt entertained the entire time. I want to go back during the week when everyone else goes back to work.

I am so happy that I went to the moview as IMAX 3d is was terrific. Yes, the story plot was a little weak but as an entertainment value it was very good. The special effects were of a high caliber and I would recommend it.

This is the most magnificent movie I have ever seen. The special effects were outstanding and very natural - the natives were alive to me, not CGI.
I disagree with the review stating the leftest tendencies of the story. While watching I thought of the utter truthfulness of the analogy of the Spaniards and Portuguese invasions of the New World, then later of the white invasion of the lands of the native peoples - the greatest wrong was caused by their sense of entitlement to anything they wanted.

The special effects overwhelm predictable plot and make this the most stunning visual panorama yet produced. The main characters are attractive and heroic. This is a classic "Trojans vs Persians" story with a cowboys and indians backdrop. Throw in a little animism, mess with physics and add an environmentalist twist to the story and there you have it. You practically have to enjoy this no matter what. It's just too beautiful.

The visual effects of this movie were outstanding, the merging of computer images with reality were almost seamless....just watching the movie was worth the money. The story could have been written by Al Gore (who knows, he may take credit for it yet), and the bad military was something out of a B movie. All in all a great "green" love story.

This film was one of the best films - if not the best film - I've ever seen. The special effects were dazzling. The development of the story was excellent. Of course, the story was formulaic (reminded me of Dances with Wolves), but the development of the conflict between the RDA and the indigenous Na'vi was superb. I've seen this film 4 times (twice in regular 3D, once in traditional 2D, and once in IMAX 3D), and every time was an experience. This is definitely a must-see film.

I saw the movie on Christmas Eve in the regular format and thought it was breathtaking and beautiful. A couple days later, I decided to see the movie in IMAX 3D. It was WELL worth the price of admission. You could tell this movie was made for the 3D viewer. Although some might bash the plot for being too simple and underdeveloped, I must disagree. I believe EVERYONE must see this film! 5/5!!!

Incredible CG experiance, really takes the techno to the next level. The Imax 3D version I saw provided a smooth enhancement of the images without being too in your face. Good story line along the themes of exploitation of the indigineous and boy meets girl. The creative design of the planet Pandora and it's inhabitants was really ......awesome! A must see film. What's not to like?

I was very pleased that I decided to see this movie in the 3D IMAX format. The story is somewhat predictable, somewhat basic - but solid. What makes this movie historic frankly is the soundtrack and visuals which are stunning. One does spend some time thinking about the technology required to make the film. This is quickly replaced by deep interest in the scenery itself - the most beautiful landscapes ever captured on screen - and all computer generated. A truly historic film and accomplishment

This movie is truly awesome. It sets the bar to new a level like Star wars did back in the day for special effects, and story dynamics.
Visually phenomenal with a classic good vs evil, power vs underdog plot. Multi Million dollar budget make this Best 3D effects movie ever seen by far. This is a definite must see so you don't feel left out when everyone is is talking about it on Monday at the water cooler.

This is honestly the best movie I have ever seen. There are some people out there that are trying to "read between the lines" too much and try to make it a political / racial staement or tree hugger film. It is none of these, just a good scifi action movie, has it all from lov to battles. James Cameron takes his turn telling an epic fable along the lines of Star Wars, Matrix, and Lord of the Rings. He takes the special fx up a lot of notches especially when watching it in IMAX 3-D which is the best way to see this movie.
For me, the story is good but not great. There are some major holes but the world that Cameron creates is so engaging that you can put the questions aside and enjoy the experience.
Conclusion: Cameron has executed a thrilling movie going experience especially in IMAX 3-D but as epic fables go, I don't think the story beats Star Wars, Matrix, or Lord of the Rings.
