The technology of 3-D is greatly improved, especially on the IMAX screen, but the effectiveness of this medium to expose the imperialism of powerful nations "taking anything they want" from weaker nations was breath taking, the results frightening. Movies with powerful political messages will never be the same. Go early. The lines are incredible.

I have seen this movie 5 times now. I have to see this movie almost every other day, I have never been a die hard fan on anything but this movie has changed my life. Imax 3d is the best way to see everything that this movie has to offer. A++++++ can not compliment this movie more than anything else!

The bar has been raised for the movie industry. I loved the 3D IMAX experience, the action, the love story, the ending. My husband loves science fiction, and this movie impressed him, too. Make sure you see this movie in 3D; don't wait for it to come out on video.

I thought the special effects and the 3 D animation were spectacular. However, I think at over 2.5hrs the movie was a bit too long, and the storyline was average. Given that, I'd buy it when it comes out on video.

AVATAR was slightly week on storyline. Great entertainment but a little slow in developing and not as deep as I had hoped. The 3D, IMAX screen and sound were definitely a plus. I don't know that I would drive an hour and a half (nearest IMAX) to see it again. I would be pretty much just as happy seeing it on a regular screen and only driving 10 minutes to get there. The biggest plus was the ability to have assigned seats and not worry about getting there an hour ahead to get a decent seat. With all that being said - GO SEE IT. I am over demanding and would not give many moves an A+ across the board. AVATAR is a solid A- and with the IMAX and 3D I give it an A overall.

I saw this movie two nights in a row in Imax 3D. It is so beautifully made and takes you to a whole new world and leaves you wanting more. Imax is loud so it may not be great for young kids and definitely not for babies. Graphics are amazing, story is moving and like I said...I may even see it a third time. ;)

The movie is worth seeing just for the special effects and the realistic 3D format. The story seemed fresh and interesting until the end of the movie where the visually fascinating but stale and unoriginal "fight to the finish" consumed the creativity of the plot. The "happily ever after" cliche made the ending and, ultimately, the entire movie less original and exhilarating than I anticipated.

Though it was a little slow getting started, once it does, you cant take your eyes off. It is visually beautiful. We did see it in IMAX and it is well worth it. The visual effects will take your breath away and you wish you could travel to Pandora and experience it yourself. The movie was well acted and you truly believe you are seeing a new species of humanoids. I would highly recommend this movie if you are a science fiction buff. James Cameron does not dissapoint.

Great movie, terrific CGI. Easy to get immersed in this new world, completely believable. At some point the big blue aliens begin to look familiar and don't seem strange at all. The storyline is fairly simple and repeats some elements of other past movies dealing with oppression and exploitation but the environmental message is on target. I am somewhat of a tough guy and even I almost cried at the end of it. Very smart and very well done. My teenage son said it was the best movie he ever saw and for me it was not quite that good but still very good nonetheless.

This was one of the best movie experiences I have ever had. Saw it in 3D Imax and have not stopped recommending it since I saw it on 12/25. I will see it again and think it will be a classic.

We were a family group of 13 from age 57 to age5. All of us really enjoyed it, especially the males !! I was the oldest and a female and didn't expect to like it but I really did. The effects were undoubtedly superb & I liked the storyline. With making the US Military the "bad guys" it was predictably "Hollywood" , but I take that for what its worth. I would recommend it ; it's one of those " you gotta see this" movies. Personally, I wouldn't want to watch EVERY movie in 3D, but this one should have been. Also, as we did, IMAX is the way to go.

I could name half a dozen books from which the plot could've been "borrowed" and poorly, at that. Really big and offensive holes in the science..do you die if you die in VR. Are the Navi so much like us that they mimic our mannerisms, culture and emotions? Try the Atevi for a more logical take. Floating islands? On a moon rotating around a gas giant? World trees? Been done and better. Planet fighting back against evil miners? Incredibly stupid name for a new element. 6-legged animals and bipeds in the same evolutionary scheme? On the positive, fabulous CGI..amazing to see the interface between real and CGI, better than Rings. Don't see this for the predictable plot but for it's 3d perfection.

We walked out of the theatre and all we kept saying was, "WOW!" It was amazing to see it on IMAX and in 3D. We've recommended it to everyone we've seen. I went into it thinking that it might be okay, but that the plot didn't seem to be that interesting to me and walked out amazed. I've never been so blown away at a movie before. The people in the theatre literally stood up and clapped once it was over. AMAZING! I can't recommend it enough!!!

Quite possibly the best movie experience ever. I've seen this three times now and enjoyed immensely each time. I've taken friends and family and everyone agrees it is phenomonal. James Cameron has created more than just a movie with Avatar.

Avatar is an Amazingly Exciting, Romantic and Spiritual Journey! I marveled at the realism and character development of the animated characters and the overall beauty in the art direction of this film. The pace of the film and the dramatic impact made the 2.5 running time seem like half an hour! See it in IMAX 3D

The theater I saw this fiasco at was stated to be an IMAX theater, and they charged as such, but in reality, the theater (an AMC hole) was nothing different, and having worked in IMAX technology for thirty years, I am insulted, forget the fact that this movie was a $300,000,000.00 fiasco, really trash. I went to school (Michigan State) with Mr. Cameron, and I know they didn't teach him this TRASH! Granted the special effects would be good on a REAL IMAX screen, but the false advertisement concerning the venues is CRIMINAL! Don't bother with this junk. As long as the public keeps buying into this garbage, they will get what they deserve.

I highly suggest watching this movie in IMAX 3D! It was a great movie overall, but it would not have been as engaging if I saw it on a regular screen. This is one of those movies that you MUST see in the theater.. it's worth the dough.
