This movie should come with a heart attack warning or, at least, seatbelts. The story itself is not a new one, however it does have some twists that make it much more interesting. 3/D is not new, nor is I-mag, but when you add Mike Nichols vision, esthetic and attention to detail, and add them all together....OMG!!
It was one of the most intense theater experiences that I have ever had. I actually thought that I could take hold of one of the seeds from the Tree of Life. I was in the room with them at the command center. I was right there with Steven Lang(whom it was good to see again), when he got into the robot.
Amazing Experience. All should see.

This movie was phenomenal. Highly recommended to be watched before the year ends. Watching it in IMAX 3D is even better. Love the story. I kinda wished Pandora was real. Hahah. I would want to learn the language of the Na'vi. Overall, it's the best movie I've seen this year. Totally worth my $14 ticket.

IMAX 3D technology is fantastic. The visuals were beautiful, breathtaking and stunning (& it doesn't give you a headache, as some old 3D systems did). However, the story is the same old plot line. Advanced culture moves in, attempts to overcome the wise earth-loving indigenous population. The advanced culture wants to steal their land/water/technology/minerals/air, etc. Throw in a love story between a native and an advance culter-er. Any more will be a spoiler.
Go for the effects, go for the soundtrack and the beautiful pictures. Don't go for the story.

3 stars for special effects. The Christmas Carol in IMAX 3d was a much, much better 3d experience (some of the previews had better 3d than Avatar). The action was good but the left-wing tree-hugger drivel (poppycock) was, unfortunately, what one comes to expect from extreme left-wing hollywood.

I had not seen the trailer, only knew a little about the story. Boy was I was in for a treat. This movie was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Amazing story line, incredible effects and real emotional connection. The 3D part simply enhanced the experience but I felt it was the amazing imagination of James Cameron that really took my breath away. I felt like I truly visited another planet, another world. Simply brilliant.

A visual delight. Saw it twice, first in real3D, then IMAX 3D. IMAX 3D is THE experience for this movie. Plot drags a wee bit in the second half. But the movie certainly highlights the creativity in the story as well as in the movie making.

This was a really good movie. The story line was excellent, girl friend liked it too, and the special effects with the 3D came off great!
I didn't think about it though until driving home, but I hope it was a coincidence that it had a global warming message with the ore being likened to as oil! If it was on purpose shame on them.

I've seen this in 2D and in 3D and I love each for different reasons. The acting is surprisingly good, the story line is good, and the effects are a sight to behold. The last 30 minutes of this movie will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. If you like sci-fi at all, you must see this movie in the theaters.

While the special effects were indeed spectacular it would have been great if an original story line had been used as well. How many times has this cowboy and indian story been told? Too bad a fraction of the effort put on the visuual effects wasn't put in to a story line to make the show truely worthy of the 300 million dollars spent.

The movie had incredible special effects and sound, but failed to clearly state the reason for the earth's mission to Pandora. The story line was vague, but kept you involved with the action- and masked the use of other movies' themes and character developments. People should experience this epic in IMAX 3D to truly appreciate the director's vision, and I definitely see this movie winning an Oscar for its best special effects. Check it out!

This movie is absolutely gorgeous. That fact, coupled with the Imax 3D experience, is exemplified so immensely it's hard not to be overwhelmed. Its environments do not feel like rehashed, reused scenes from the Amazon nor are the creatures that inhabit it plain and simple. You truly get the feeling you are on Pandora when you watch this movie.
The visuals are unsurpassed by anything that has come before it and its unique spin on some very typical storyline plots engage the viewer in a way many movies of this last year have not. The technology is very plausible and nowhere near over-the-top. The "hidden" messages seem to radiate quite clearly, but only take away from the movie if you allow them to. Avatar is simply outstanding.

This movie blew my mind! If you have the opportunity to see it in an Imax in 3D, please do so. The special effects and laser precision sound is FLAWLESS. The movie was 2 hr 40 mi and you didn't notice and actually left wanting to see more. Go see this movie! I'll probably watch it again. It's that good!
