Some say that this story has been done and is predictable. They make a fair point. And yet this type of story has never been so unique and incredibly imaginative. Days after leaving the theater my mind hasn't left James Cameron's universe.
The IMAX 3D effects are stunning. The best part is that the film doesn’t use 3D as some sort of gimmick - it subtly sucks you in. It’s more like looking through a window than staring at a screen.
Just as awe-inspiring is the sound. Everything from the roar of helicopters to the screams of creatures comes through crisp and powerful. Combine IMAX surround-sound with the 3D and you feel like you're truly there in a way never before possible.
Avatar won't be showing in IMAX much longer. Go see it!

Amazing. I highly recommend seeing this movie! Great story line, fantastic graphic animation and the 3D effects are insane! This is a real turning point for movies. Movie makers of the future will have a hard time topping this!!!!

I absolutely loved this movie. I saw it on Saturday in the regular format and again on Tuesday in the 3D - IMAX. Spectacular! I believe this movie will set a new standard for the industry. It has it all: a good plot, developed and interesting characters, fantastic special effects and CGI that supercedes any before. The exchanges between the two realites is seamless and believeable. Even those who don't like sci-fi tell me they have really enjoyed. A must see.

I remember the first time I saw color television and how awesome it was, this is a similiar quantum leap into a new generation of movie experience and entertainment. The bridge between reality and computer generation has now been created and fact and fiction are inextricably entwined now. The attention to detail and amazing scenery have to be seen to be believed and 3d viewing is extraordinary. bravo a fabulous movie

I saw it on Christmas Day at the Bridge Cinema with 3d IMAX here in Los Angeles.
Since then, I was just keep saying whomever I met at work, restaurant or even at the bus stop (while waiting for the bus), not to miss it, especially in 3d IMAX.
James Cameron and every collaborated people for making this movie. Here's my word.

See this in 3-D and have a real adventure in another world. The plot, the romance, and the cinematic action and beauty combine to make a great movie. You can read editorials and reviews commenting on the political implications of this movie. However what good story does not relate to universal themes? If you miss Avatar, you will miss an important experience.

See this movie in an IMAX theatre, if possible. The 3D effects are cutting edge, immersing you in a visually stunning world that captures you from the start and doesn't let go until the credits. The simple story line is merely the vehicle for this grand visual adventure, but thanks to James Cameron's creativity, it rides like a roller coaster. Our group ranged in ages from 14 to 50 to 84 and we all loved it.

I've seen a couple of IMAX films, and this one is the most spectacular, and offers the most common-sense approach to 3D viewing. Stunning visually, this movie also has a story line that all can relate to. Superior film!

Avatar is a great movie. My family and I loved every minute of it. It is an extremely long movie, but it's over too soon. Cameron wove such a compelling story that we are now waiting for the sequel. Beautifully done, wonderful animation, and a believeable story line. I was sucked into the world of Pandora.

Unfortunately, I still have only negative things to say about 3D cinema. First of all, I had great seats: centered both sideways and front-back. Nevertheless, I had trouble with focus pretty much the entire movie, compared to the regular 2D version, which seemed "sharper" all around. So much so, in fact, that I fought nausea for the first 30-40 minutes or so. In terms of the 3D effects, while they certainly have come a long way since the 50's, it just doesn't add much to the cinematic experience. Rather, it's mostly a distraction that prevents the viewer from fully immersing themselves in the action.

It is definitely worth it to see this movie in Imax 3-D, it was wonderful! The actual story-line, dialogue, and acting do not beat Lord of the Rings, but wow - the special effects and the scenery are unbelievable. You really get absorbed into that world. Loved it, and will probably go see it in Imax again.

For a long movie it felt like it only lasted one hour. Kept interest the entire 2hr 40 min. The story line, the 3D effects, and the action were tremendous. There were 6 of us who attended the movie and we all enjoyed it! Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Avatar is an amazing movie-going experience, even moreso in 3D. You become totally immersed in a world unlike any you've ever seen. It's great to see filmmakers like Cameron, with such a wondrous imagination, from the creatures & fauna on the planet to the vehicles & machinery of the humans. But don't think it's all visuals. There's a heartfelt story here too, with characters you care about. That, plus some incredible action, makes Avatar a must-see!

I love movies. Recently after purchasing a LCD TV and the advent of bluray, I find myself waiting for movies to leave the theaters for the home movie experience with friends and family. IMAX 3D changes all that and Avatar especially. I've seen it twice already due to the feeling of exploring this world. It is a must see in IMAX as far as I'm concerned. You will never be able to get that experience once it leaves the theater. Unless of course you get a 3d TV.

I was a little concerned initially about the 3 hour running length. Once the movie started, i was part of a different, beautiful, and stunning world. I was sorry it ended so soon. For me, this is on the short list of the greatest movies ever-and the 3D technology was a giant leap in special effects. I'd go right back today and see it again if I didn;t have to work. See this!
The story itself is very moving; and the acting was surprisingly good! I do think it's a little scary for youger children. A family next to us ended up leaving early on, because the kids were afraid. The 3D is very realistic.
