This movie is a WOW from the beginning to the end! Breathtaking environments and creatures, super realistic character animation and true emotions. You will not watch the movie, you'll live in a dream world for 3 hours! Strongly recommend to watch it in IMAX 3D. Creates an avalanche of emotions. I would compare the experience with the best Las Vegas shows. Enjoy!

Best movie of 2009, possibly of 2009 AND 2010. The IMAX 3D experience may have spoiled me, it will be hard to look at other movies trying to depict similar content (lush jungles, alien characters and futuristic warfare) the same way. It already saddens me to think that I won't be able to get that same experience watching the movie on DVD, Blu-Ray, etc at home. I'll be seeing it again at least one more time in IMAX 3D. Even my fiance, who's Sci-Fi tastes originally made her shy away from it, claimed it was one of the best movies she had ever seen.
The story comes to such a perfect conclusion, a sequel would make less sense than a sequel to Titanic. This is a one of a kind movie we'll be talking about for years.

I am grateful to have lived long enough to see another amazing cinema plateau reached. There are many other movies that have reached audiences in other positive and emotional ways, but Avatar in 3D Imax is not only an instant classic, it is the movie that opened the door to a higher form of entertainment. I am sure there will be some self serving critics that will take cracks at it to better their own careers, but bravo to the Avatar team and thank you for a memory that will stay with me until my last breath. We are lucky to have seen this leap in technology and professional film making.

Some parts of the story line have been used over and over (corporate greed, boy meets girl and girls boyfriend is a hater etc.) but overall this film was amazing. Don't see it in anything but IMAX 3D

Avatar 3D IMAX was certainly one of the best movie going experiences I have ever had. When I got up at the end, there were imprints of the pockets on my jeans on the seat. Apparently I didn't move my butt for the entire length of the movie. The scenery was fantastic, and I left the movie astonished by the entire experience. The battle scenes and training scenes were fun and energetic, and the visual effects were stunning. It was well worth the price for IMAX, and I am thinking of going again just to get a second chance to take it all in. AMAZING

OK, it's true - the plot and especially the character development leave something to be desired. It's blatantly melodramatic.
But see it anyway!!!
Some superb acting, both live and animated. The IMAX 3D technology is married to first-rate animation, art direction, and effects making this probably the most visually lush and rich film ever made.
Raises the bar for George Lucas (who started this revolution) and everyone else. See it as it's meant to be seen - IMAX AND 3D - and don't carp about what it doesn't do. What it does do is alter the future of cinema. Be there.

Although the story is a familiar one, the telling of this version through the cinematic techniques Cameron uses is breathtaking. The IMAX experience is never disappointing and this is one movie adventure that should not be experienced any other way. For 2 hours & 40 minutes I was immersed in a breathtakingly beautiful world of magic. The movie is loud at times, but the right times. I laughed, cried, trembled in fear, had my breath taken away, and my heart broken.
I can't wait for AVATAR II!!!

Im a big fan of 3D so it takes alot to impress me. James Cameron used 3D as an artist, not for gratuitous cheap tricks. Although the script is predictable for unlikely-hero stories, the special effects were so spectacular that it made the entirety a magnificent success. Cameron wrote Avatar 20yrs ago but waited until technology was available to do it justice -- it was worth the wait! In the same way that the original JurassicPark set the standard for computer-generated realistic action, Avatar has set a new but much higher mark. For the next decade, Avatar will be the new cinema model future films will have to emulate and improve upon to catch new attention. Bravo Cameron, well done!
Watch in IMAX 3D for Cameron's intended artistry!

This was worth every penny. The story was "Dances With Wolves" meets "Star Wars". The acting was superb, especially Michelle Rodriguez. Her helicopter pilot role really stood out, as a soldier with a conscience. The audience applauded the film for good reason, it was literally breathtaking. Do yourself a favor and see it in IMAX 3D, as this is also 3D in a class by itself. The bonus is that this story-line
upset Rush Limbaugh, and the lunatics at Fox neo-News. Enjoy, Cameron really made a great movie.

Avatar is Superb! I want to live there! Everyone should see this masterpiece. I was not a fan of Alien, but a SciFi fan and artist since childhood. This is the best ever! The Imax experience was well worth the extra cost of the ticket. It made you feel as though you were right there with the characters. Saw it in regular 3D, Imax is so much better. Great story line, leaves you feeling like the good guys won!
