The storyline was unimaginative and the so called ground breaking videography was unimpressive. If you must see the movie, definitely watch it in IMAX 3D--it definitely needs the additional technologies.

Enjoyed the 3D Imax experience. The flying segments and running through the forest surely enhanced this experience. The 'spiritual' aspect could be misleading.

IMAX is totally awesome experience...words can't do it justice. Went as a family:
3 teenage girls, 1 teenage boy, 2 brothers in the 50's and our Mom dancing with 80 - so a wide range of tastes. All agreed the effects were fantastic even Mom. So even if sci-fi isn't your taste the scenery is wonderfully done - defenitely worth the upgraded price to see in IMAX 3D

This was such an amazing movie in 3D. The technical imagiery was so totally awsome. How it just drew your imagination into this fantasy. I would totally recommend this to anyone. It was so worth it to seen in 3D Imax.

Everyone in my party of four, which consisted of people ranging in age from 10 to 70, want to see it again. We saw it in 3D at the IMAX and were blown away by the feeling of being right there in the action. The movie is fast paced, allowing little time for the heart to slow down. One of the children commented on how long it must have taken to apply the makeup for the avatars. How's that for a complement, Graphics People? See it.

For SciFi and Fantasy FANS - it is spellbinding!
We were in a totally full, IMAX theater, and for the entire movie - everyone - was totally enthralled. The plot is a standard, but, there were many unexpected 'twists' that held our interest. The special effects were beyond words. The IMAX 3D Experience was very well done and worth the extra few dollars.

This is not simply 'an old story with new graphics'. Mayb a conglomeration of old stories (dances with wolves, quigley down under come to mind - but not completely). The colors and the 3D graphics are just amazing. I went in expecting to see an old story with new technology but it is so much more.

the product was obviously very high quality - most of the characters and scenes looked so real -becoming almost believable - did not much care for the theme - but the effects - beautiful..breathtaking.. (seen on IMAX 3D)

Basically a love story wrapped around a social commentary on corporate greed and misuse of the military-industrial machine. That said, Cameron is a genius for creating a fast moving plot containing a strong female heroine and enough adrenaline pumping fighting scenes to keep everyone happy. But the real "story" is not within the plot - it's the special effects. No words can adequately describe Cameron's world of Pandora. Well worth the money. Strongly recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D.

Over the past few years I have chosen more and more to watch movies at home. I have a comfortable seat, cheap popcorn and no people talking and annoying me. Overall, home is a better experience. However, Avatar 3D IMAX is worth going out to. This movie was a great experience. Story line was good (not great) but the effects were awesome. The 3D makes the movie incredible, not cheesy like many Disney 3D movies.

I was disappointed. The IMAX wasn't any better than regular 3D , not worth the extra money. The movie was pretty good, but due to all the hype that ,I was going to be totally blown away, I was disappointed. It really wasn't that good. The CGI graphics were unimpressive. It was a feature length video game. Sorry Mr. Cameron you will probably make your money on the hype inertia not really the movie.

Pretty much about the big, bad, USA coming into "any country" at will and doing as it pleases. One line was, "we will fight terror with terror". Come on. The USA sat all during the 90's taking cheap shots by the school punk and when we "finally" react, we are the bad guy. James would not have been able to make his film, we wouldn't have been able to drive to the theater, and could not have paid for it if the USA was not policing the oil rich countries.
The 3-d was better in some of the previews before the movie. The scenery did seem very real. The actors were believable. The computer animation was extremely good.

Seeing Avatar in IMAX 3D was without question the most fullfulling movie experience I've ever had. Not only because in well over two hours the thought of "special effects" never even crossed my mind and I was just in another world - but because in the end it is the ultimate love story and if you are not "moved" by it - you better have somebody slap you because you probably don't have a pulse.

Amazing graphics, captivating story line. A classic battle of good and evil. I would reccomend the 3D even though the glasses are a bit annoying after the first two hours. Sat 2 hours and 40 minutes and stayed through the credits just to be sure I didn't miss anything!
