I finally got a chance to see this movie and it was worth the wait. I was blown away by the special effects. I would strongly suggest seeing it in I-Max,3D. Buy your tickets online so that you can pick just the right seat. There were alot of people getting turned away because it was sold out. Be careful when purchasing your tickets online. I saw at least 6 couples get turned away because they thought they had bought I-Max tickets, but showed up with standard theater tickets. Enjoy !!! I am going back for more.

The movie is good, but not ground braking as the hype claims. The story is .... well ... highly predictive, but entertaining.
The visuals of the are really nice .... but they are nothing more than digitalized versions of Earth's sea life added to normal ground backgrounds. He didn't create anything new as claimed. Just watch Planet Earth or Blue Planet if you want to see the real life originals.
Overall, the movie is definitely worth watching on the big screen, specially in IMAX 3D. Just don't expect anything ground braking. The attention to details (except for the ships ... they looked like made for a video game) was impressive .... but the CGI is nothing new ... just in HD.

I found the movie to be everything I hoped it would be. The visual aspect of the movie being the most impressive. Perfect amount of action, good story and everything a sci-fi junkie would want. This movie gets an A+ from me.

I remember back when the movie classic 2001 A Space Odyssey premiered on the big screen, I was excitingly overwhelmed with Kubrick's vision of the future. I experienced these same feelings with Lucas's vision, when Star Wars hit the screens. But now Cameron has surpassed those exponentially with the awe of his jaw dropping heartwarming vision of a whole new world in the future.
Would I recommend this movie to a friend? YES! And if you are one to say "I will wait until it comes out on DVD," you might want to reconsider and experience this once-in-a-lifetime innovative 3D cinematic experience with the best tools technology has to offer today like IMAX.

This was truly an amazing work. The graphics put you right in the the middle of all the action. We have been telling everyone about this movie. I can't imagine seeing this in the 2D version for the first time (although the movie itself is great and we will most definitely purchase when it comes out). Go see this and enjoy yourself!

This movie is a technical wonder- kudos to JC and the technical crew for visualizing and materializing such a fantacy.
Story is not new and one will feel like watching a grand fusion of "Matrix", "Jurassic Park" and "Dances with the wolf".

I sat in the second row at the i MAX in 3D. oh man. you'd think being so close would be pretty headache inducing but, well, yeah, it does, but the movie still BLEW MY MIND! it was awesome to say the least.

A critic could find flaws in this film. The characters and plot leave a little something to be desired. Having said that, who cares? Upon viewing the film with those 3D glasses on you are immersed into the world of Pandora as if you were in one of your own dreams. The spectacular, jaw-dropping visuals is enough to sustain even the pickiest of moviegoers for well over 2 hours (assuming you don't dump a jumbo cola down your throat in the first hour and half to take a bathroom break).
Missing this movie in the theaters would be equivalent to missing Star Wars when it originally came out in theaters -- it's that groundbreaking. And despite the flaws, it's still an entertaining yarn for all ages.

Fantastic! We sat in the third row from the front and the scene details were so vivid. Several times I had to close my eyes because I felt like I was moving and spinning with each movement of the characters. Great story line too.......

Awesome Movie, more like an Epic Movie. I think Mr Cameron has out done himself again. I took my 2 grandsons and my son-in-law to see it at the 3D Imax theater. I suggest that you see this movie in an Imax setting as it will blow you away.
2 hours and 45min and my grandsons never moved from their seats, that alone attests to the brilliant action and story line behind this Movie!! I think that this will be the all time high grossing film in History!! GO SEE THIS EPIC FILM !!!

There were several times throughout the movie that I would hear people in my group of 7 (ages 15-65) and people sitting around us whisper, "this is amazing". And it simply was - Amazing

Saw Avatar in IMAX 3D. What an amazing movie! The storyline was good, even if it was somewhat expected. Sort of like Dances With Wolves for the Sci-Fi crowd. What makes this movie so spectacular is the scenery, the attention to detail of each and every little thing. Watching this movie you don't so much feel like you are watching a 3D movie as much as you are actually part of the scene. I highly recommend this movie.

THE FILM: Enjoyable and visually stunning. Sound effects and 3-D techniques got better as the film went along. Zoe was awesome, and Sam was good though he's got to work on his accent. Ultimately, not a life-changing film, but a fun time this season. James Cameron should NOT write his own scripts. Trite dialogue and obvious situations. Overall, amazing how Cameron and his team put together something that I could only dream of in MY childhood.
THE THEATRE: For $14 per ticket, The Palladium IMAX experience should provide NO obstructed view seats and get back to assigned seating. The first of the year was a nightmare on the seating front... Obviously a ploy to ensure better seating sales. I'm sure there will be complaints...
