This was my first IMAX 3D movie and it was fantastic. From the opening scenes to the very end, this movie's special effects, graphics, realistic looking military technology was far above any movie I've seen. I will definitely see it again. I recommend you see it in IMAX 3D to enjoy the full experience.

The plot started out a little slow but that was masked by the wonderful visual world that you are surrounded in. I'm glad they spent the extra time early in the character development as the end of the movie was that much more exciting when you feel invested in the characters. I would highly recommend seeing this film in 3d and if possible in the imax. It is worth the extra money if you have one in your area.

This is a spectacular film. The cinematography and creativity were excellent, OMG, stupendous. The predictable plot was OK because of the incredible graphics and animation. The second half was filled with gratuitous violence that was quite tiresome, much like the third book of the Tolkein trilogy.

This was my first IMAX 3D movie. I was very impressed. The story was very good, snd was told very well, but I did not agree with some of the messages.
If you have not seen it, def try to make it to a 3D IMAX.... Real life to animation was seemless!!!

This movie was amazing, James you hit this one on all cylinders, great job. The story line was good. There was a perfect balance between action and the story. The creative aspects of the movie were phenomenol. The world that was created for this movie was one of a kind and will stay on my mind for many years to come. The special effects astounding. Lastly I found myslef lost in the movie. If you go see this movie see it at an IMAX theather.

I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D. This story has been told many times (think Dances With Wolves or The Last Samurai) but some would say there are no original stories left to tell. The film is grand and definitely worth seeing. It is NOT, however, a transformative film that revolutionizes anything. In fact, the whole thing could have been done in straight CGI (as opposed to "Performance Capture") with the exact same results. thumbs up to Cameron for an entertaining film. Thumbs down to the media for all the hype.

"This was actually my first IMAX 3D movie, I loved it! It is an extraordinary movie. I was waiting for something like this to come out so I can experience IMAX. I was captivated by the story. Will most likely see it again. The only people who appear to not enjoy and/or appreciate the story line in this film are conservatives who seem to equate this movie as being a propaganda piece against their candy coated version of Human History.

Some have called Avatar "Dances with Aliens," which is about 85% correct. What distinguishes this film, particularly in IMAX 3D, is the utterly captivating visuals that make it possible to immerse oneself in the alien environment of Pandora. There is an astonishing level of detail, and it becomes quite possible to believe you are really there. The storyline is very predictable, but that's hardly the point. When you get on a roller-coaster you already know what's going to happen, what counts is how it feels along the way. Avatar is the head & shoulders above anything else that has come before.

WOW, This was the movie that will always be remembered as bringing 3D into the mainstream. Characters on Pandora never ate but they surely did hunt. I'll go at least once more to Avatar in IMAX 3D. IMAX 3D is now the only way I'll leave my HD TV and DVD/DVR to pay for a movie

The IMAX 3D version of Avatar was great. It was by far the best IMAX movie I have seen. This is a must see movie. Even if you don't think you would like the subject matter, it is done very well and there are no slow moments. It is a break through in movie technology and well worth the time and money to see on the big screen.

MUST SEE THIS MOVIE ON THE BIG SCREEN...PREFERABLY IMAX! The movie was beautiful visually and musically. The dialogue could have been better but WHO CARES! This is an EPIC MOVIE and if you don't watch it in a good theatre you won't appreciate it as much. It'a a long movie and you will want to be in a comfortable seat. I was worried I might get a headache from all the 3-D so I took some Tylenol beforehand just in case. SIMPLY AMAZING AND COOL!

This has got to be the best movie I have ever seen. The advertisements say this will change the way movies are made and I really do believe it now. The movie made you feel like you are part of it. Like you were really there! The story line is excellent and the special effects are the best I have seen. If you do not see that many movies, make sure this one is on your list. Any other movie will seem boring after you see this one.

The special effects were terrific and the storyline can easily be connected to todays world. Reminded me of a National Geographic special with a political message and dramatic storyline. A must see for anyone who enjoys a movie about appreciating other cultures as well as some great battle scenes. Science Fiction rocks!

For a movie almost 3 hours long, the time went by quickly.
It is a standard story, wrapped in a SciFi blanket. Special effects well done, very much worth seeing.
Two things bothered me about the movie. First, the use of sound. It was probably about 90 minutes in to the movie before I heard any use of "located" sound (ie, coming from a distinct speaker to try to place you in to the scene) and when I did hear it I thought someone was leaving from an upper door and let it slam.
Secondly was the dichotomy of biology. It seems as if every creature on the planet has 4 forelimbs *except* the dominant species. It just seemed a bit jarring to me.
The story line is pretty predictable, but it is wrapped in a very nice wrapper.
