Absolutely, positively see this in IMAX 3D. You'll find yourself reaching out to grab things that are floating right in front of you. The scenery is beyond "creative" and more than makes up for the perhaps slightly predictable plot. But there are also enough twists in the story line to keep you on the edge of your seat as well.

The IMAX 3D experience of this movie was the best ever! This was the second time I saw it , and I do not usually like to watch a movie more than once! The cinematography, storyline and the acting was first rate. James Cameron absolutely exceeded the Titanic, which I thought would be impossible to do! Everyone should see this movie.

Pretty amazing that a group of people come up with such an entertaining movie, The special effects and the setting were so amazing, Yes the story is little predictable but so what, it is by far a very very good achievement. I will go back to see it again for sure....enjoy the show.....

I saw this in IMAX 3-D and can't imagine doing it smaller; total immersion. Fantastic detail and sound.
The plot's been done before; I'd go again and just refocus on the wealth of details in set and costume and ecology that blur by the first time through.

This is really a great movie. Generally, I am not a fan of science fiction. With that said, I did really like it a lot.
The story is interesting...a little predictable, but the Na'vi culture provides some twists.. It was visually amazing. The 3D experience made it even better. The forest is amazing with the plants and the effects.
It was a little long and could have been tightened up with some editing. It was clear that there were some scenes that were left in just because they looked cool. My boredom was quickly relieved as the action picked back up.
Most of the time, I leave movies thinking that I could have enjoyed it just as much at home, but this is a movie that deserves to be seen on the big screen.

With so many movies being remakes and plots that are very similar it is refreshing to see a new ideal. Add to that good acting and great sets and you have a wonderful movie experience. I chose to see it in Imax 3D and I am glad I did. The 3D experience makes you closer to the action and you feel less like your watching TV; you get you more involved in the action. I highly recommend Avatar and think that the 3D experience will enhance your enjoyment.

I guess I was expecting a lot more. But if any more movies come out in 3D I think I might buy my own 3D "wrap around" "lite" glasses. They were too big for me and the little girl next to me took hers off completely for at least 3/4th of the movie.
A lot of creativity & imagination went into this move for the 3D section. I expected more 3D type stuff happening especially wearing those heavy glasses.
It was okay for the experience

The story on the other hand was a copy of a million other novels and films. Cameron ought to be ashamed of himself for that!

Spectacular movie! A word of caution to parents who want to bring children under 10 years old to this movie. There are battle scenes where humans and pandora peoples get shot by machine guns, trampled by animals, burned alive, impaled by sharp objects, shot by arrows and crushed to death. Also there is some bad language along the lines of calling someone a limp d??k ahole and bit?h. I saw parents there with kids like 7 or 8 years old and after the movie they were laughing and talking about the movie??? Sorry, the positive enviromental attitudes in this movie don't out weigh the violence and bad language sputtered by the "heroes". Wake up parents!

Almost waited too long to see this movie. The IMAX and 3D and sound were incredible! There was a good Saturday afternoon crowd in the theater (two thirds full) so there were good group dynamics. The audience didn't over actively cheer for the indigenous peoples against the USA troops. I didn't realize the Navi people were so huge until the movie's end.

I saw the regular version, and went back to see the IMAX 3D. The 3d was much better and more immersive. I enjoyed the story. People are sayiing that it is predictable and it is...because this is almost exactly the story of the treatment of Native Americans in the US.
As the price of the technology decreases, this will be the future of movies, actors will be replaced by avatars that will be computer created and will require voice talent.

I was so involved with this movie that I felt I was part of it. The IMAX plus 3D experiance was at times so involving that I could feel my heart pounding through my seater. My wife was gripping my hand so hard I started to lose curculation. If you are going to see Avaitar go to a IMAX theater you will be blown away!!

I took my 8 year old daughter to experience this movie in 3D IMAX. It was incredible! The effects go without saying and the message is a one that humans need to remember. Indigenious people no matter where they are can teach us how to keep the balance of nature. This movie allowed discussions of native americans & indigenious cultures around the world, rain forest deforestation and the need to protect mother earth. The movie made you believe in Pandora, the Pandorian Animals and the Na'vi. My daughter's first comment was will there be another! Movie rated PG-13 only due to battle scenes depicting violence. But acceptable on all other levels for her. I will definately see again.

The graphics and the 3D were terrific. The story line was good, but not great. You could see where a lot of the plot lines were headed and how things would end early on. But it was still a fun experience visually, especially the IMAX 3D.
