This is just excellent movie going. You do not have to buy in to the "bad white guy/megacorporation" themes tp enjoy the story. Attractive heroes fighting against bad odds are universal. The 3D/IMAX experience was outstanding in every respect. The many action sequences and alien landscapes produced flinching and some vertigo, and created a compelling environment.

enjoyed the movie but were dissappointed that the 3D went out after about 15-20 minutes so we didn't get that effect. The movie events became rather predictable as the events unfolded.

I loved the movie. I enjoyed the special effects. I didn't think the IMAX 3D was necessary. The only real effects for the 3D were the scenery shots and I would have still enjoyed the movie without that.

Excellent movie-I saw it twice in two days and expect to see it again soon! James Cameron is an awesome writer/director and Sigourney Weaver still has it. This movie will become a classic and will define, for future visual creators, the standard by which their work should be measured!

An action-packed visual tour de force. Highly recommended in the theater, especially 3D IMAX while it is available. Compelling story and characters. While not compelling enough to jerk any tears, the story is convincing enough to bring you into empathy for the aliens, which is no mean feat given the direct conflict between human and alien in the story's climax. The true draw of the movie though is the visual experience, which does not fail to amaze. Clearly the biggest "ah" moment in the cinema since Jurassic Park and the only movie I've seen in the theater several times in succession since E.T..

A great movie and was captured by the look and feel of 'Pandora'; the alien world in the movie. For a 3 hour movie is sure went quick and I would definitely see it again in a heart beat. Only way to see this movie is in IMAX.

Avatar has a good story behind it, but not a great one. Despite that the groundbreaking advancements in this film take that good story and elevate it to a whole new movie experience.
My advice, see this film in 3D at the theater before it is gone.

This is a movie with visuals that are like candy to the eyes. It's a treat to go to Pandora and the only way to go is in IMAX 3D. It's something you have to see in the theater. Don't wait for the DVD.

Avatar is a bore. The visuals are stunning, true. The CGI animation is the new benchmark--yes. There are action sequences and concepts that are forward thinking and wonderfully executed. But that is it! The story and character are one-dimensional and trite. The dialogue is immature and laughable. A.O. Scott of the New York TImes said he had not felt the way he had walking out of Avatar since he was a little boy and saw Star Wars--but Star Wars wasn't three hours long--and it still captures our imaginations with technology from the 1970s.

This movie delivers on all accounts. It is visually incredible. The 3D Imax was so realistic you felt like you were there in the movie. Best use of 3D I have ever experienced. The animation and graphics rocked. Made you wish you were one of the Nuvi's. James Cameron doesn't dissapoint!!!

I fell asleep twice. The story was - universal, yes- but boring. I felt like someone said: what issues can we put in here and how do we touch each demographic: underdeveloped.
Kissing, check.
soft core %orn shots, check.
"car" car chasees, check.
blood and guts, check
tree hugging, check.
big name star, check.
ugh.
Was the "experiment" good - yes.
It was 3d; it was very PRETTY.
The amazement for me was the credits and trying to imagine the actual creation of the film -the steps, the jobs, the process, the masses of people.
BUT was the movie great, all the way around...no.
Go and see it - but remember you're going to see a peep at the future of movies - not for all-round brilliance.

While Avatar wasn't my first pick for a movie over the holidays, I'm glad my girls and friend swayed me to go! I enjoyed this movie tremendously with the special effects and storyline, and the movie was relatable to all ages. I don't buy many movies for my personal movie library, but this one is definitely on the list to purchase!

I am not a sci-fi-fantasy movie lover. But this movie was great! I was enthralled from beginning to end. Go see it. Also, it is definitely worth paying theatre price as you won't get the full experience at home without the 3D or IMAX screen.

I saw Avatar las night and it was breathtaking. If you have not seen this movie yet, get to your local IMAX 3D venue promptly. I paid $15 for my ticket and Avatar was worth every penny.

OK, the special effects are out of sight and the 3-D is great. But the story is lacking. Haven't I see this before? Bad humans come to a perfect world with a peace loving race that is in tune with nature. Bad humans tear up planet to get the resources they want. Evil military is going to wipe out every thing on the planet to get what they want. This has been done before. After a while the special effects can't counter a lacking story and it is too long. I will only recommend this one for the 3-D experience. There are much better films out there.

Even though I had heard great things about this movie. It turned out to be better than that. I found it a seemless, beautiful and absorbing journey from start to finish. The technology has changed the way we experience movies. And the story and characters were on a par with the technical developments....and that says a lot. This film is a benchmark for all movies featuring computer animation. It just seemed to merge every aspect of movie making at it's finest. And the 2hours and 40 minutes flew by as rapindy as the creatures in the film soared across the screen

Although the plot was akin to Ferngully in many ways, the amazing visual effects made the underlying plot elements so much more powerful.
This was my third time seeing the film in IMAX 3-D, and it was just as amazing this time as the previous two.
We stood in line for 40 minutes before getting into the theater, and folks from every age group and demographic were lined up.
Overall amazing film.

Great effects and use of color and imagination in creating this unique story line. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3D Imax experience! (except for the waiting lines to get in!) It was a total escape, with a nice ending, and little to no violence or cursing!

This was a fantastic movie that used technology to help tell the tale. There was a seamless integration of cg and live-action that really made me feel as though I was standing next to the characters. Having the movie in 3D just made it that much better.

We stood in line for almost an hour for the sold out show, it was worth the wait !! I am 49 and have taken my son to many movies with blockbuster visiual effects and no substance.I was suprised to see a great story that would have made it on its own merits,,even if its the same story as 'Dances With Wolves"thats Ok ,,that was another great movie !! Add the stunning production and IMAX 3D effects that blur the line between CGI and reality and sound that makes me want to throw my stereo in the river,,and you have a movie that I consider one of the best I have ever seen.
Well done Mr. Cameron and company !!!

Great Movie, Doesn't seem as long as it really is. 3-D has came a long ways. Must see in I Max 3-D. I dont think is would be worth the money not to see it in 3-D. The 3-D gives the movie so much more to offer the audiance.
