Avatar is a bore. The visuals are stunning, true. The CGI animation is the new benchmark--yes. There are action sequences and concepts that are forward thinking and wonderfully executed. But that is it! The story and character are one-dimensional and trite. The dialogue is immature and laughable. A.O. Scott of the New York TImes said he had not felt the way he had walking out of Avatar since he was a little boy and saw Star Wars--but Star Wars wasn't three hours long--and it still captures our imaginations with technology from the 1970s.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
