Fun movie for all ages. It lasted 2 hrs & 40 min, but time seemed to fly by. No one wanted to get up and go to the concession stand or bathroom. The only warning is for those people who get motion sickness. The 3-D can cause some problems, but you still ought to try it. I don't normally see a movie more than once, but I might make an exception for this one!

Go for the effects - stay for the plot.
Effects are incredible. Amazing. Awesome.
Plot is actually interesting.
A little too long. Could have done without many of the war scenes.

Sometimes the IMAX experience adds little to a movie. That was not the case here. I watched it first at a good theatre, and in 3D. It in no way compared to the IMAX version. I do see the point of driving out of your way (3 hour round trip for me) in order to have this experience. Don't miss it.

Wow!!! This movie was outstanding! The 3D was awesome... not "junk flying in your face" hokey, but rather, you are IN the movie. The IMAX experience was worth the money. Incredible graphics! Great story! I will see this one a time or two more before it goes off of IMAX

Great movie and well worth the price for IMAX. As good as the movie was the profanity added nothing to it except to get the rating they wanted. The graphics and visual effects where worth the price of addimission!

This movie will literally blow your mind! This was the first movie I saw in the new 3D effects and I'm glad it was. I needed a few minutes to adjust but afterwards I was actually on the edge my seat trying to integrate myself into the movie. My husband next to me was giddy as a schoolboy, like watching a movie on the big screen for the first time.
Cameron definitely came through with another epic movie and set the bar way high with his immersive 3D.

Avatar is an amazing film, incredibly beautiful and creative. You will be awestruck!!! The movie has a plotline that has been labeled predictable, but it has been done with such attention to detail and innovation that this hardly matters. The story contains emotion, love, and action, so everyone will enjoy it.
Watch in 3d or IMAX it's totally worth it.
I'm watching it for the 3rd time next week. Definitely a new favorite :)

Managed to see Avatar at the IMAX in 3D! Wonderful experience. We saw the midnite show (all other showtimes were sold-out). I thought I'd fall asleep, but I was captivated from the time the movie started. My 9 YO son was with me. In my opinion, the violence in a few scenes was a bit heavy kids. Be sure to research the rating thoroughly.

This is one of the most entertaining movies I've seen. It's Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas, and Fern Gully mixed together. I don't think reverting back to the stone age is better than developed civilization, but Avatar makes important connections about greed, love, and our need for connection with nature and deity. Despite evil warmongering soldiers, heartless corporate executives, or Cameron's obvious and annoying lines referring to the war in Iraq, this movie is impossible to forget.
Sam Worthington knocks the socks off Kevin Costner (which isn't hard to do) and Zoe Saldana delivers a fantastic performance. AND of course you can't have the experience without the wizards at Weta. You won't be disappointed.

"Avatar" is an engaging, visually-stunning movie in the classic James Cameron style.
In truth, the story is familiar ground, and comparisons to "Dances With Wolves" and "Ferngully" are not without merit. However, a good story is always worth retelling, and this one is told well. I'm not usually one to get emotional during a movie, but I freely admit I got choked up several times during "Avatar."
Some people have accused "Avatar" of pushing some left-wing liberal agenda with its anti-imperialism themes & "treehugger" message, but if this movie makes people think a little more about the path humanity is on, then that can only be a good thing IMO.

The movie was well-made and entertaining. I loved the colors and detail in the flowers and landscape etc. I did have a slight headache afterward. The only disappointment was the theatre itself - I pictured IMAX theatres to be bigger and multiple screens instead of the one, standard size.

This is my favorite movie, hands down, of all time. I have seen it twice already and I'm ready to see it another 100 times. Its an absolute must-see in 3-D, it is so vivid. It is a cinematic masterpiece that will be loved for years and years to come. It is to computer-animation what The Wizard of Oz was to color movies and it will change ideas about what is and is not possible in movie-making. Avatar is a masterpiece.

Despite cardboard characters and a predictable plot, this movie succeeds wonderfully on the strength of its beautiful world-making. I want to go to Pandora! Someday films like this will have deep stories and real characters as well as a stunningly realized out-of-body experience. But for now, enjoy the trip, and the many flashes of imagination in the lovely small details of its richly realized alien world. The story and characters are intriguing as far as they go, it's just disappointing that they remain so shallow, as in Disney fare for children. The film has welcome green and anti-imperialist sensibilities, without finding anything new or subtle to say about them. Kids will love it.

We are really lucky to be able to experience something like this. I bet if I went back again, I'd see even more the second time! it was amazing. I thought that the graphics were going to be the highlight but I was pleasantly surprised that it had a plot. How is it that this movie was a dream years ago and the plot is still sending a relevant message even today? it's amazing. GO SEE IT..don't miss out. The only thing I don't like is that I saw TMZ where James Cameron was really nasty to a fan. That's not nice to hear.

You feel like you are actually visiting another planet. The detail down to every plant and bug on Pandora is incredible. By far the most visually intriguing movie I have ever seen. I saw it a second time 2 days after the first viewing. You have to see it in IMAX, this movie exercises IMAX's full potential.

Exceptional visual experience, like nothing I have experienced before. Viewers, however, should be alerted that the IMAX 3D may cause motion sickness. I, and others, had that reaction. Take your Dramamine. It is a wild ride!

You simply MUST view this film on IMAX or 3D! Or both!! Absolutely beautiful. This movie takes you to a WHOLE NOTHER WORLD.
People talk about the story-line which is predictable because there are stories similar to this, but there is nothing wrong with a story that's been done before only this time done even better! I do wish the human world was explained more in the movie, but maybe that will be for a sequel.

The image is stunning where reality and fantasy are blurred to the extend that one forgets to get out of the theater expecting to be in this universe to erase the destruction human generated.
For me it was a futuristic "Dance with Wolves" with the ability to write the ending in a better light.
I wonder if the 2D experience can come even close to the 3D one?

I saw the movie in Imax 3D. While the story was ok, the movie experience was amazing.
This was the best 3D experience I have had. The movie was not trying to stick stuff in your face, it was just in 3D. Very realistic with amazing graphics. You feel as if you are in the action.
The only way to watch Avatar is in Imax 3D. Even if you have already seen it watch it again on an Imax screen. I plan on watching it again!

The movie in IMax 3D was awesome eye candy, but the story was weak (even though it did have some cool elements) and the dialog was simply awful. After Titanic, and now this, I've come to the conclusion that James Cameron can't write dialog. I was disappointed. Can this guy create villains that aren't two dimensional? And where have we seen "The Company" before? Honestly, I laughed out loud at some of the lines. And the closing credits with Celine Dion accompaniment had me running for the door. But hey, there are those state of the art special effects, which I enjoyed.

Saw It twice in 2 days in IMAX 3D. James Cameron has created an entire virtual world of action & adventure, this reminds me of when I stood in line in 1977 to see Star Wars, I was blown away then, & even more now.

Overall it was really good, but I wish they would have utilized the IMAX 3D better on the flying scenes. It would have been really amazing if you actually felt like you were the one flying. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing!!
