I absolutely LOVED this movie. I never ever like 2 see movies twice in the theater, but this movie is the EXCEPTION. I would totally go watch this movie again the theater. I definitely think everyone should see it in 3D, because it is such a BEAUTIFUL movie. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

The visual and 3D aspects held up the storyline in thoses areas lacking in character development and their actions. (some seemed unrealistic) However, the entire family was enveloped by the movie with the visual effects which are now at the next level.
I hope Mr. Cameron will not attempt to make a sequal, I would stand in conflict of all that he has been saying in all of the media outlets.

Seeing a film such as Avatar in this experience only enhances the pleasure and experience 100x fold. Avatar sets the pace with graphics worth astonishing and a almost flawless drawing-in storyline for any fan of films, not just Sci-Fi. The graphics are amazing, the storyline is mind-boggeling, the cast is superb, the lore is fantastic, and the whole experience has created a new fanbase around the world who haven't been able to stop thinking or discussing Avatar after watching it. This is how the box office has only dropped by a fraction per week. Can't wait for the two sequels.Seen it 3 times, twice in Imax-3D

Great storyline. A master piece for the visual effects, unlike any movie you have ever seen. Cameron brings back the best elements from his previous works and immerses the audience into another world. He takes in all aspects of the mundane world, from greed to religion to conservation, and in the end generates a great movie. A must see in Imax 3D... a lot of time was spent getting the right angles to intensify the effects. In summary, Avatar is the next generation of movie making that will transform the industry and save the theaters from extinction. For the best experience, get a clean pair of 3D glasses, sit in the middle of the theater room center isle and hold on for the ride into another world.

Unbelievable. intense, and what a message it tells. i went to see it just to be entertained, but I left feeling much more- inspired, moved and a natural feel good mood. I decided to buy tickets for my sister, brother and his wife to see this great movie. The only way to see it and really enjoy it is in an I MAX theater.

The iMax 3D experience was amazing! Forget about negatives you might hear about any aspect of it, as they are always there. Just go see this amazing, visually incredible movie production and enjoy the ride. Also, get there early and sit as close to the center as possible!

I hear a lot of reviews knocking the story, but I thought it was pretty good. It's a long movie and my only complaint on the story was it seemed a little rushed in spots. I think they had enough missing pieces that could have been expanded on for a very good trilogy.
The 3D quality, detail and special effects alone make this movie a 5 start selection. It doesn't hurt at all that the acting and story for me anyway is right up there as well.

This was most aesthetically beautiful movies I have ever seen. Some friends and co-workers told me that the story was not very good, but the 3D was awesome; indeed the 3D was awesome, but I felt that the story was just as good. I thought that there were some references to colonialism in the film, and I thought that some of the characteristics of the Na'vi lifestyle correlate to the lifestyles of some traditional societies around the world (in regards to religion and interconnectivity).

Any other format doesn't do "Avatar" justice. I saw it twice in Real 3D and just last night was able to finally see it in IMAX. Tremendous! I heard and saw things I didn't catch the other times. Stunning.

James Cameron has raised the bar once again in movie production. Although Cameron isn't the greatest script writer - the dialog and plot prove this out, his stories are engaging and the production of Avatar will draw you in like no other movie ever has. Not true animation, the computer rendering process he uses to create the on screen characters (as he did with Gollum in Lord of the Rings) brings realism to the non-human actors like has never been done before. Not only is this movie a must see, it's a must see in 3D to get the full immersing effects envisioned by its creator.

This has to be the best movie I have ever seen in terms of viewing experience. I am not much of a tree hugger so the story line was a little liberal for me but the movie was so well done that it did not matter for me. If you are going to see this movie you would be doing it a disservice to not see it in an IMAX theater. If you are afraid of heights this movie would be excellent therapy for you.

I saw the movie in IMAX 3D and it was just an amazing time. The movie doesn't drag even though a 2hr 40 min run time is way longer than people are willing to sit thru for most movies. You really don't want to see it end, you're so immersed in the storyline. The plot was not particularly original, but the world-building to create the ecology, mythology, theology of the planet was great. The best way to see this is in IMAX-it was THE BEST movie of this genre in a long time!

This is a movie worth seeing on the special effects alone, and that is pretty much all there is good about it. The story is terribly cliche'd which usually does not hurt an adventure movie. He uses common liberal ideology to propel the story line and attempt to make some statement about current events but is completely superficial. However the visuals are so immersive that you wont care.
Scorecard: Scale of 5
Story = 1 (At least he uses Sci-Fi ideas)
Setting = 2 (Too many sci-fi cliches in one planet)
Acting = 4 (great acting almost hides the terrible writing)
Visual Effects = 10 (Wow! Must see in 3d)
Realism = 5 (on the second cgi movie that I have seen with near perfect physics modeling! And consistent scaling. )

I was afraid to believe the hype. But I was wrong!!! This was a great movie. I totally bought into the charachter development, world view and shear beauty of Pandora. The integrated 3D was a huge bonus. Rather than adding an un-needful destraction it definetly enhanced the movie's storyline. Making you feel more viscerally for the Pandorans plight. Excellent choice for a three hour adventure.

I went to "Avatar" without any knowledge of the story. It was an amazing cinematic experience. There is a well developed storyline with actual character development (missing in most features lately). The visuals are beyond comparison with any recent big budget film that has come to the silver screen lately. It is easy to see where the budget was well spent. I've seen it in 2D and IMAX 3D and now want to see it in the Real 3D version to compare the 3D experience. If you have a choice please try to see the 3D version. I have recommended the film to friends and co-workers.

The movie was amazing. It really showed how inhumane people can be. The story line was great and kept you guessing for about 80% of the movie. The effects we beyond great. I recommend watching it in IMAX, it makes the whole experience 10x greater which is hard to do.

This is more than a great movie... it is an experience that embodies incredible imagination and creativity, more compelling than anything ever before projected on a movie screen.
The technology sets a new standard, producing animation so suberb it's almost impossible to distinguish it from the live action scenes.
And the 3-D process is used with great skill, making the audience feel it is on the periphery of what is happening onscreen, rather than sitting in a chair in a movie theater.
If you go to movies to be entertained, Avatar will meet your highest expectations. You will be immersed in it. The only downer to prepare for is that of returning to everyday life after seeing this exhilarating, idyllic other world.
