At IMAX Providence Place Mall 3D: this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Not just for the unbelievable 3D and special effects, but the story was awesome too! Took the kids and there are scenes that are very intense for the under 10 set, and some of the flying scenes made the kids a little motion-sick but not too bad. I highly recommend this movie!!!

I'm not one to go to the theatre more than once to see a movie of any kind. In fact I can't remember the last time I did so but this movie is amazing AND inspiring! I figured the whole draw was going to be the "special effects" which was truly sureal but I was equally impressed with a story line that was entertaining enough to keep you going throughout. Bonding with characters and pulling for the Navi. I was so into it that I wanted to be Navi and join in the fight! I am going again to see it for the 3rd time in one week. This one is a great one. GO SEE IT!!

This movie was really great! It was everything I expected it to be. Seeing it in 3-D and IMAX made the movie very intense. It had a little of everything for everyone and we had a great time.

I went to see this movie to experience 3D... what I received was an absolutely awesome experience of being part of another world in another time. The story itself is thought provoking and highlights some deeply held spiritual beliefs .... it also draws some political parallels as well... and of course there is lots of action. During the flying scenes, you feel like you are really flying on the back of a dragon!

Avatar on the big screen, and being in 3D was a movie experience I will never forget. The movie was absolutely breathtaking. It was an emotional ride, that had a great story line.
I was so caught up in watching this movie, that after it was over I left the theater tears. Just pure movie genius!

This was the third time I saw the film Avatar. The third was in I-Max 3D. The first two times were in the regular format. This film was made for the I-Max 3D Experience. I have never before seen a film three times within three weeks. I can understand why the film has grossed over a Billion dollars already. At first I thought the 3D gig would be hokey I really don't go for the 3D experience, but this was very different. The Film was enhanced by the 3D. It gave it more depth... It seemed like I was in the jungle with the Jake and Neytiri. I was concerned I using cardboard glasses, but the theatre had large plastic glasses that they sanitize. Perfect. I highly recommend this film in I-MAX 3D. It's well worth the money. I just may go again

This was a great movie, although the ending was predictable, that did not spoil it. I would have like to have seem stronger use of the 3D, it seemed a little weak in this film. I highly recommend this film
My biggest complaint was the 3D glasses did not fit well and left the bridge of my nose and ears sore after the film and my daughter had to hold hers in place most of the film.

I am a sci-fi fan and waited to see this with the hopes that it would either be over hyped and not half of what it claimed to be so i didn't have to spend 15 bucks for the IMAX experience. That didn't seem to ever be the case after talking to many people that had seen it. So I went for the full experience IMAX 3D and it was worth it. The 3D adds a lot of depth to scenes in the movie. Not a lot coming at you, but a visual feeling of being there in a lot of it. The detail of the whole movie in all facets was incredible. This was the first movie in a long time that has left me mezmorized. I was unable to keep my mind off of it after. I am planning to see this again with my family. If you miss this movie you are truly missing a masterpiece.

Husband's birthday present, we saw the movie in 3D at an IMAX in Michigan.
Great visuals, beautiful love story and pretty true about our society.
We liked the movie so much we plan on going again today to see it on a regular screen and compare the two. My husband's family is joining us at the movie today!

I've seen this movie four times now, and the IMAX 3D was by far the best, even though sometimes was wrong with the film and now and then we saw some scratches on the screen.
This movie is truly inspirational and revolutionary. The moment I saw Pandora, I was in love, and wanted nothing more than to stay there forever. The graphics are simply the best to ever hit the screen. Each Na'vi looks as real as the people, and the world surrounding them is lush and eye-wateringly gorgeous.
Through every view I've never stopped enjoying the story, immersed in the acting. Weaver does a great job, as does the rest of the cast.
The film is a breath of fresh air and always leaves me asking, "When can I have my own Avatar?"

Calling this a movie doesn't to it justice. The only downside to this experience is that it had to end after only 2:45. If there were 11 stars to award it out of 5, I'd wish there were 12. Cameron nevers gets gimmicky, which would have bee SO easy. It sucks you in... makes you believe. I really don't enjoy going to movies at all, but this one will call me back. It's just ridiculously good.

Visual treat... Such a colorfull movie. Watch it in 3D movie theatre. I was watching the list of people who worked in the movie at the end, may be couple of thousand people worked for this project and Kudos to all of them for such a master piece..

This movie is absolutely wonderful in so many ways. It is beautiful; the story line, the animation, the people, the futurist world. The actors were the perfect choices, I would go see Avatar again. The only negative, for me, was the long battle scene towards the end; it could have been shorter. But, I realize the importance to dramatizing the intense and sad act of death; all because of greed. It's hard for me to help someone visual this movie because it's so 'beautiful' and unique. I'd just go see it for yourself, make sure it's the Imax 3D version, go early to get a great middle seat, embrace those funky 3D glasses, and allow yourself to enjoy a wonderful experience as if in the body of an Avatar.

The downside of this movie is that you will never be able to go to another movie, no matter who is the actor, no matter who is the director, no matter what the subject matter is, and not be disappointed. Never is a long time, but I can't imagine how the special effects could be made better.

While the story line is not new, the visual effects and creativity that went into making this movie are phenomenal. I will definitely go see this again, just for the experience, and see what I might have missed the first time. Seeing this at an IMAX theater is worth the extra cost of admission.

3D IMAX was interesting, stunning at times but in the end distracting, uncomfortable and gimmicky. I don't agree with Cameron that this is the future of movies. Blasting the sound track beyond tolerable levels doesn't add to the experience either.
As others have said, silly story themes stolen from vast number of movies made it very predictable and preachy. True to movie tradition, lots of inconsistencies (e.g. why do bullets not penetrate fighter jet windows and kill but arrows do?).
Definitely an event movie that should be seen but not even close to being the best thing ever done.

The scenes in this movie were so real at no point did I think I was watching CGI. They are way beyond what you expect from the trailers. Some plot lines were predictable but you didn't know how they were going to achieve them so it was still enjoyable to watch. There are scenes of death and loss that elicit an emotional response but it's not excessive and blends in well with the rest of the story. Going to see it at the IMAX in 3D was definitely the right choice. At one point I actually tried to blow away a bug from the movie that was floating in front of my face. I never felt the need to look at my watch even though with previews you're in your seat for three hours. Everyone needs to see it this way at least once.

This movie has definitely advanced the art of moviemaking, but the story is childish and has been done many times. I saw it in an IMAX theater and was blown away by the sound, music, CGI and the 3D. The 3D was not "gimmicky", meaning it wasn't used to throw things into the audience, but rather to present images naturally. Very effective. Cameron & Co.'s creativity with the image and production is unparalleled. The story though, keeps this from being a 5 star review. The screenplay is amateurish and has been seen in "Dancing With Wolves" and many others.
