3D effects were very good, I saw it in 3D IMAX, great way to view a film. BUT,not for young children. There were young children in the theater who were crying and had to leave in the middle. Follows the Dickens's story, uses old English, very well done

I am very glad that I previewed this movie before taking my 6 and 4 yr olds. There are several parts that are to intense for children under 10 to really understand or enjoy. Overall it was a great movie. Jim Carrey was great.

We saw this with my 7 yr old. I don't think he understood some of the details, but he got the premise of the movie. He asked alot of questions during the movie. The special effects were great. Might be a little scary for the younger kids, but overall a fun movie.

I saw this movie on Thanksgiving with my 9 year old son and mother. We all liked this movie. My son had lots of questions about the actions, I think he missed quite a bit of the sometimes lengthy dialog. But he certainly got the overall message. My mother liked it overall but could have done without the 3D or IMAX. I generally enjoy IMAX movies and 3D movies, and I think this was particularly well done. This movie is an hour and half which is a comfortable timeframe although I think the chase scene with the Ghost of Christmas Future could have been completely axed with no ill effect to the movie. Other than that one compliant, I loved this movie and thought it was a wonderful rendition of this story.

I don't know if Carrey is the best choice for the roles he played. I guess, I have been spoiled by the dramatic reading by Patrick Stewart.

I loved every second of this movie! Both my teenaged daughters enjoyed it, the boyfriend thought it was 'sick' (good) and the husband fell asleep...but still gave an enthusiastic review to friends we met for cocktails afterwards....(o; I would not recommend bringing any children under 10 to see this. Lots of new material for nightmares is explored! Pure genius, and a great memory maker for the holidays. Thanks Disney!

We saw the movie just last night over at Rockaway 16 theaters. I picked my usual seats (right in the middle!) and certainly enjoyed the total experience. Good to see that the traditional storyline was followed. Of course Jim Carrey is always full of energy, but also really enjoyed the Oldman, Firth, and Hoskins characters. It got a little loud at points, so I had to cover my ears (it was most noticeable when the hammers hit the bells). In general, it was really neat to see how many technical aspects of this type of movie-making have already improved (for example, Polar Express - loved it) in such a short time. This movie was incredible. The 3D effects were so good that I felt like I could reach out and touch the characters. You could almost see the hairs on Scrooge's nose. Some of the animated characters looked almost real. Loved this movie! There are some very scary sequences though, I would think twice before bringing small children.

The storyline, of course, was the classic tale and well known to me already. It deserves high ratings alone and has nothing at all to do with what version of A Christmas Carol this was. The effects were excellent, yet during certain parts there was some weird dark shadow in the left side of the glasses. I don't know if that was a foible of the movie itself or the screen upon which we were watching it. Loved the detail of Scrooge's character, and Jacob Marley's ghost. Some of the animation was so good that the faces looked real, even if for only a moment. Justice was certainly done with the effects for an already great Christmas classic. Some of the effects would certainly give many children a fright.

The MPAA rating system is a farce...like the college football BCS. I've recently seen far less scary (and adult) PG-13 and R rated movies than this PG-rated Jim Carrey buffoonery. The best part of the movie, practically, was Andrea Bocelli singing during the credits! Yes, the 3D effects, especially on the IMAX-ish screen (the retrofitted IMAX screens aren't as big as true built-from-scratch IMAX) was awesome...but the 3D glasses were so uncomfortable that I left with an awful headache. I actually discovered that the kids glasses are padded and more comfortable.
Don't take very young or immature/impressionable children.

This is NOT a kids movie. Small children may get nightmares. This is especially because the 3D is soooo gooood!!! Its as if the characters can reach out and touch you! 3D effects were wonderful. Really loved flying around the city. The storyline was perhaps appropriately dark and creepy. The parts intended to be funny were mild at best. Decent movie, great graphics Jim Carrey did a fantastic job. Some parts carried on when it was un-necessary, and the important parts went by quick. The Ghost of Christmas future was too scary for the kids, I referred to him as the angel of death. took my 4yr old niece to see this movie and she was terrified with the last ghost and the chase scene with the black horses who had red eyes. Definitely not disney's best and some scenes are too scary for the kids. Please beware if your taking your kids, be prepared to hide faces and hear some crying...

This classic story was told in a very enjoyable and entertaining way. The IMAX 3D was terrific and proves once again that 3D technology is here to stay. The use of motion capture and photo-realistic animation was along the lines of "Polar Express" and worked well with Disney's 3D techniques. Movie was way too scary for little children...especially death scene of Ghost of Christmas Present...and Death Horses and Carriage chase scene. Some scenes dragged on long beyond their desired place in the plot.. Overall, its a great story, entertaining, well worth seeing even with flaws...put me in the Christmas spirit & I clapped along with the rest of the audience.

The movie was overall amazing! Jim Carrey was fabulous! His voices were so unique and believable he must of scared himself. The 3D animation was also fabulous. We were also lucky enought to see it in IMAX. It follows Dickens story perfectly. And, I liked the way they gave credit to the marvelous novel that it was based on. I have a younger daughter and it was great tell her it was based a on a book writtten years ago. FAB JOB!!!

We thought the movie was fantastic. As always you can't help but love the story. Jim Carrey just has such a way of transforming into whatever character he plays. But the special effects were so good, you felt as if you could fly and found yourself trying to catch a few snowflakes in the snow scenes. We only wish the movie was longer as it was totally enjoyable

Took my 82 year old mother, my wife and daughter to it. We saw this in IMAX 3D. The effects were stunning and the sound and images intense. It almost pinned us to our seats. The 3D realism was super.
After the movie, it took all of us minutes to regain our equilibrium.
The treatment of the story, A Christmas Carol, was well done. The only exception is when Scrooge is chased by the hearse, becomes small and slides through some icicles. This will become a holiday classic even with that divergence.
Worth the money -- a good value.
