One of the worst movies we have seen in a long time. If you can believe that anyone loves to fly as much as this guy does, then maybe you would like it. Starts with a false premise and goes downhill from there. No redeeming characters, and a terrible end, but at least it was over! As much as I like George Cloony, even he was not appealing! Go see It's Complicated instead. At least you will laugh!

Great movie for all George Clooney fans who get what they expect from him. Anna Kendrick is great but Vera Farmiga really sets the tone as the "male" version of Clooney, Witty, Charming, and yes very depressing subject that gets very little upbeat moments-but there are a couple provided by George...Not a great date flick as it leaves you with many questions and less than upbeat! Still all in all a very good movie for a drama-not a comedy!!!

Movies are supposed to take you to another place. Hopefully, its exciting, enlightening, or just fun. Up In The Air is quite possibly the most boring movie of the year. My wife and I wanted to both leave half-way through. Getting fired gets old real fast. Seen enough airports, hotels, etc. The story line is a complete downer, except for, well I'm not sure what. Save your time and go see Sherlock Holmes instead.

Do not believe the hype, as this is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. This movie has a very predictable, one dimensional story line that is long winded, tiresome and downright boring. The intended message is trite and is poorly communicated because of the extreme character flaws of the main protagonist. The best that can be said about the plot is that it is depressing. None of the three main characters are likable, and in fact each is deserving of contempt for at least some portion of the film. George Clooney's acting is simple and lacking in depth. This role could have been played by anyone. Why he has received any praise for this performance is mystifying.

Disappointed. With high reviews, I thought this would be a great movie. It had potential and the actors played their parts exceptionally well. However, it was slow to develop and there was not enough life events that really moved the story to the depth of thinking and analysis needed to make it impressionable and unforgettable. "Up in the Air" is really two good movies in one. On the first level, it's the entertaining but moving story of a hollow man, someone who starts out with less attachment to other human beings than he has to his frequent flier miles. Through the arc of the story he sees and feels what is missing, and he reaches out to someone, only to find that connecting with another person is harder than passing through an airport security line. The second movie is like a powerful, telegraphic documentary (with some real documentary elements) about the experience of being fired. We have enough exposure to a roster of discarded people that we have a visceral reaction to their plight.

Excellent movie to relax to and filled with light humor. Being a former frequent flyer I could relate too most of the situations and mind set of both main characters. I think those who have spent many miles in the air will enjoy more than those who have not.

Many things bothered me about this movie. There had to be a fair number in the audience who had experienced this exact situation (losing a job) at one time or another.Why would anyone want to relive that on the big screen.George Clooney played his part very well, as did Twilight star, Anna Kendrick. But there was no resolution at the end of the movie, they didn't learn anything from their jobs about the fragility of life and the need to build something real outside of work.Why did they have to make Clooney's love interest be a lying, cheating, no good woman? She validated every wrong idea that Clooney had about relationships. All in all, this movie was a disappointment.

This movie was very good. You should watch it in the right mindset though. It deals with a very sensitive subject...people losing their jobs. It was very realistic. After all the hype for this movie, I was really looking forward to seeing it. After the movie, I wondered where all the hype and accolades were coming from. The movie had a few funny moments but mostly it was a formula movie except for an ending that left you going "huh?". There wasn't one main character in this movie that I cared anything about. I left feeling this was another one of those films that covered up a thin plot and thin characters by feigning complexity. The only depth associated with this film was the depth of disappointment expressed by people leaving the theater.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great movie, sad ending. Sweet story but I hate that Clooneys character didnt have the chance to change in the end.

I found the movie depressing despite being superficial, cruel to the many people that were laid off. Those are portraid as old, overweight, badly dressed loosers, while the ones that make a living of firing them are glamorous, even to the risk of feeling they live an empty life. Acting is fairly good without any outstanding parts. If I am going to see superficial, I'd rather see a comedy and laugh
