This is one of the best action packed movies I have seen in a long time that did not have any over indulging amenities. To me over indulging amenities referes to (1) excessive background and sound effects, (2) bloodshed and (3) dark and out of focus scenes. This is a good old fashioned mystery without all the excess.
Must see movie!

This movie was absolutely wonderful! Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious and Jude Law never fails to impress! There were certain points in the movie that could have been left out but overall the story, characters, and setting was perfect!

With a convoluted storyline that is hard to follow and not very interesting, we were disappointed in this movie. Had really been looking forward to it, but the final product just didn't hold up. Cinematography is very dark and the fight scenes are shot in a very unusual jerky/slo-mo style that is, again, hard to follow. The dialogue is very mumbly, making it impossible to catch some of the "funny" banter between the two main characters. Often sounds like RDJr. has a mouth full of marbles. Overall, my opinion is "see it" or "don't", its not a big deal.

the 4 stars is right on. there is enough action and engaging investigation to keep you interested in the plot. good fun for all, could have had some female nudity to make it better and my wife would have liked to see Robert Downey's naked bod

Best movie I've seen in a while. Picked this option over Avatar on New Year's eve and it did not disappoint. Maybe not the best movie for younger crowds, but for adults, highly recommended. Not quite perfect, but still a 5 out of 5.

I enjoyed the movie very much, and Robert Downey, Jr and Jude Law were excellent in their roles. I noticed that the writers swapped the traditional personnas of Holmes and Watson, and it worked very well. The plot held my interest, the comedy was subtle and well done, and the action scenes were well above par. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good suspense/mystery/action fun show.

I enjoyed this updated version of the Holmes I was used to watching with my father as a child. There are an appropriate amount of comedic moments and the brotherly chemistry between Downey and Law is wonderful. I look forward to the development of these characters in a sequel, which is imminent.

A very enjoyable 2+ hours. It is nice to walk out of a theater and not feel as if you have wasted your last couple of hours (not to mention $10). The film was well paced, the actors were controlled and did not play into the potential for parody or caricature. The action scenes were spread out and did not overwhelm the movie or the interplay between Holmes and Watson. Well done. A very pleasant holiday diversion.

Enjoyable, fast paced action. Not classic Conan Doyle, but fun with lots of action and easy to follow plot. Like the typical Guy Ritche action scenes. (including bare knuckle fighting a la Snatch!) Sound track seemed at times to have been borrowed from a Spaghetti Western :) Would definitely reccomend to lovers of action movies.

I enjoyed the movie very much. It had a lot of action and all the actors performances were excellent. You need to pay attention since there are a lot of details that you need to pick up on to follow the movie. All in all I thought it was an excellent movie.

I liked this movie, but it busted all former ideas of Sherlock Holmes that I had previously. Holmes was the neat one (in the books) and Watson kind of bumbling. The movie has the opposite - Holmes is VERY messy, and Watson the neatnik. They play off of each other very well, and I found myself more interested in them and their lives rather than the case. Watson's girlfriend was a nice touch - as was the girl that Holmes is smitten by. My favorite part was the slow-mo sections where Holmes told what he was going to do in detail - we kind of get into his head for a minute. Overall, not my favorite movie, but I will definately see the sequel.

A very entertaining, clever, well acted movie, with a lot of action, sleuthing, and twists and turns that leaves you wanting more as evidenced by 2/3 of the audience remaining in their seats to watch the credits which were also quite entertaining.

I enjoyed the street scenes, the clothes, the atmosphere. The story was slow; the audience was not privy to some of the information that Sherlock was collecting. The relationship between Sherlock and Watson was more important than the actual mystery.

I thought this movie was capturing to the mystery critic in all of us. It was interesting to try and figure out how certain things were done. Robert Downey Jr. was excellent in his character of Holmes and I loved Jude Law as Watson. Definitely see it on the big screen.

I thought this movie was tired, predictable and actually somewhat annoying given the fact they could have done so much more with the characters, plot and dialogue. I will give them an A for photography. Otherwise don't waste your money.
