Let me start off by saying I am not a fan of scary movies. With that out of the way, this film does what it was meant to do; keep your anxiety high in anticipation for the next haunting. There were parts I expected something supernatural to happen that didn't deliver, and parts where the incidents peaked higher than I thought they would. That is what makes for a good scary movie. Sure there were predictable scenes, but PA2 far outdoes the first. These movies are not about "ghosts". They are about demonic possession, so if that is not something that you can sleep pleasantly through, I don't suggest you expose yourself to it. Let's just say having the dog bark to warn me that my husband was hiding in the closet was enough to make me jump, twice, after we got home. He didn't even get to scare me, but he sure had a few good laughs, at my expense. ha ha ha
I enjoyed this updated version of the Holmes I was used to watching with my father as a child. There are an appropriate amount of comedic moments and the brotherly chemistry between Downey and Law is wonderful. I look forward to the development of these characters in a sequel, which is imminent.
I knew this installment would outdo Twilight, but I never thought that I would be blown away as I was! It wasn't just the performances from the actors that were better (direction really does have a lot to do with that), or bigger name cast members that made it better. The first thing I noticed was that even the picture itself was just better quality, brighter and more vibrant, rather than the dull gray/green/blue that seemed to be a fog over Twilight. I was immensely happy that they kept much closer to the book story with this one, and was thrilled throughout the movie with everything that was going on! Woo! It was awesome!! :)
Husband and I enjoyed this film immensely! There was nonstop laughter from both of us and another couple we went with during parts of the film. I found my jaw and cheekbones to be sore later from smiling and laughing so hard. It was brilliantly written enough so that any man would enjoy this film with it's witty conversation on both ends. I'll buy it on dvd as soon as it's released! :)
