This is not a "chick" flick. My husband enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Acting is superb. Didn't read the book, so I don't know how much it resembles the book. I liked the movie and told my friends to see it as well.

If you're looking for a shortlist of likely lady Oscar contenders this year, this is the film for you. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are both wonderful (I predict a nomination for Streep), as are their male co-stars. Nora Ephron is also in top form, with a script where only individual lines can be nitpicked and effortless direction. All around, it’s a great movie.
As for the cooking content, any food fan will be in heaven, but even though I'm not particularly a culinary expert (and would eat less than half the dishes showcased), I found it very engaging and charming. Creating food is like creating any art: it requires skill, dedication, and a whole lot of emotion. I suspect making this film took the same things. Very recommended.

This movie was very heartwarming. I loved Julia Child on TV and actually made boeuf bourguignon when I was in high school. I made my mother get a special pot to cook it in and I remember the search for peppercorns as spices were not as plentiful in stores back then. It was a wonderful meal. Meryl Streep is an amazing actress. She really got the voice just right.

This was a really funny movie, but seemed to drag on. A movie with just JULIE, the cook, and not julie, the girl who really needs to get a life, would have been better.
She reminded me (the stalker Julie that is) of a psych patient desperately in need of in patient treatment and heavy med schedule.

I saw the movie last night and once again a superb acting of Meryl Streep - I love her! In this movie she is an inspirational, funny and an humble woman and a loving wife, who sticks to what she loves - even with some doubts in her mind, she still does not give up. What an inspiration she is! She handled everything with charm and a lot of credit for her loving husband, who believed in her and never put her down. I enjoyed the movie to the last minute.

This was a superb movie and one that I would buy when it comes out on DVD as a keeper. I think Meryl Streep captured Julia's spirit, voice and compassion as if she were alive within her. Amy as Julie with her sweet, loving spirit was a great side to Meryl. It reminded me of my younger days of watching Julia with my Nana and knowing how Julie felt. It kind of was sad when the reporter said that Julia was unhappy with Julie, but I think you have to look beyond that statement and remember that Julia put 8 years of herself in the book and then it gets taken through in a year, but she was also 90 and we need to remember that when we get old, we get cranky and not our younger joyful self.

LOVED this movie; have seen it twice & will probably go again. Meryl Streep gives a spot on performance as Julia Child, from the movement and mannerisms to that marvelously distinctive voice. What a chameleon she is. Amy Adams' Julie was believably fragile, self-absorbed, lost and ultimately found through her relationship with Julia. Stanley Tuccci and Chris Messina give heart-warming performances as the patient, loving and strongly supporting husbands. And the FOOD! I think I gained 5 lbs just watching & salivating. This is a foodie's delight. I can't believe that Mastering the Art of French Cooking isn't just flying off the shelves. I'm getting mine today!

There was some mild humor in this movie, but I wonder only if that came from the main characters' chemistry. Honestly, I have to ask, did someone really think to themselves "This would make a great movie!"

Giggles and laughs were coming from me as I watched this film. The only time it was unpleasant was when the husband couldn't take any more and left for a night. I watched the real PBS Julia Child's cooking shows when my kids were little. She was wonderful then, and Meryl Streep played the character true. I definately would go to see it again.

I really enjoyed this movie. Saw this with my mother last night. We both really liked it. Very good cast, very entertaining and a great story. See the early show and then go for a nice bottle of red wine and some good food and enjoy!

My mom and I went to see this movie last night. I thought it was funny and really entertaining. The cooking was awesome, when I got home later I had the urge to bake something! LOL Go see it with the girls!

Meryl Streep proves every time that she is the consumate actress. She did Julia's voice, inflections, and attitude superbly. I recommended it to my sisters and niece who are foodies also.
