This was a superb movie and one that I would buy when it comes out on DVD as a keeper. I think Meryl Streep captured Julia's spirit, voice and compassion as if she were alive within her. Amy as Julie with her sweet, loving spirit was a great side to Meryl. It reminded me of my younger days of watching Julia with my Nana and knowing how Julie felt. It kind of was sad when the reporter said that Julia was unhappy with Julie, but I think you have to look beyond that statement and remember that Julia put 8 years of herself in the book and then it gets taken through in a year, but she was also 90 and we need to remember that when we get old, we get cranky and not our younger joyful self.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
