I am one of 'those people' - the 'twi-hards', but I also have a very open mind and have laughed on my own at all the obvious flaws in the series.
This movie was perfect! Excellently delivered jokes; I don't 'feel stupider' having watched it.
But I do believe this movie is probably only going to be best for people like me, who will catch every joke because you know the true series inside and out. I laughed way more than anyone else in the theater.
Please go see it with an open mind and just enjoy it!
There was some mild humor in this movie, but I wonder only if that came from the main characters' chemistry. Honestly, I have to ask, did someone really think to themselves "This would make a great movie!"
I would not even recommend this as a 'you need to see this at least once.' I definitely could have gone through my whole life without seeing it.
Perhaps I set my expectations for this movie a little high in my head. Honestly, I felt like I was watching a friend's home movie, they forgot to tell me it was going to be 2 hours long, and being a good friend I sat there and watched it.
I was borderline bored! It was cool to see people grow and change, but really, what do you walk away with after watching this movie? I know how it feels to send someone off in the military and not see them for months, it's heartbreaking. And you have to do it again and again. This movie did not bring me back to those times, as I expected it would.
